Their food is typical Ligurian style with local classics and lots of options for pasta, fish and meat. I wanted good seafood so, I ordered the local fish stewed in a tomato gravy with olives. This is a huge dish and takes about 30 mins to prepare and, enough for two people to share :-)) at €17 for this main, it's the best fish I have had in a long time. It's a dish made with mussels, prawns, scampi, sardines, cod and couple of other local fish I don't know the names of. Caution : if you don't like bones then don't order this dish ;-)) I even ate the prawns in their shell as it was a thin edible shell. Many people don't like this but, this type of prawn should be eaten whole without peeling :-))) For dessert I had a fabulous milk based cake with a strawberry jus. All in all a fabulous meal and the place was packed outside with no tables free for the evening. Prices are very reasonable and I would have paid almost twice that for the same food in France or Germany :-) If you want good local Genoa cooking with some decent local wines then check this place out. We ordered some chicken cotoletta, zucchini, salmon, meatballs and some mixed seafood. Did cost a bit under 30 Euros for everything. Quality was very good, the veggies very delicious. So was the seafood (mussels, squid) and the cotoletta. Meatballs were nice and tender, pork possibly, which we enjoyed. The salmon itself was a standard quality, but it was in a vinegar sauce, and that was an unlikely, but actually fantastic combination. Surely something we'll try back at home. Food-wise and quality-wise there was no issue. A very enjoyable meal. Price-wise it really could be a tad cheaper - compared to other food in town on a similar food-quality level. Upon arrival, the owner offered the best seat on the boat (pontoon boat) which was docked right across from the restaurant. However it afforded great views of the town and harbor. For my appetizer, I had the warm octopus and potato salad and it was wonderful. The octopus was tender and nicely prepared. For my main, I had the seafood pasta. The pasta was of course prepared al dente and the clams, mussels, shrimp and langostino were all fresh and perfectly prepared. To accompany the meal I had a great bottle of prosecco. Throughout the entire meal the service was nothing short of exceptional. The entire staff was attentive and ensured the wine glass was always full. I would certainly return on a future visit to S.M.
