When interviewing, I asked if they had experience supporting people with trauma and they said that it was "Trisha's specialty." This divorce wasn't the only thing going on in my life, I was managing the sudden death of a family member and a health scare at the time. The staff was receptive and courteous in the beginning but after a couple months there was a misstep by their office about filing paperwork. It felt like they had more clients than they could handle. It set off some miscommunication in email and that was the sudden end of it. The conversation was handed over to Jennifer and she was quickly defensive and dismissive. Her emails were harsh. She notified my ex's lawyer that she wasn't going to be representing me anymore and I started fielding his calls again. I'm sure trauma and abuse come up in a lot of cases for them. It's a tough line of work. I just don't think it really clicked for them how much I was going through at the time. I had very limited interactions with Jennifer up until the termination and the treatment I got was not trauma informed. If you have a lot going on like I did, I wouldn't go with this office. It's not a compassionate place.

One that is unfamiliar and structured in such a way that it's almost impossible to navigate on your own. So if you find yourself having to enter into this system with a deeply emotional or traumatic situation on hand the pressure to have a wider perspective on how that system works is essential! That's where Jenn McCabe came in and completely changed the trajectory of my case the moment she took it on. She goes above and beyond to do whatever she needs to do to give you the best fighting chance in court. Before I had Jenn I had so much anxiety entering the court room. After having her as my advocate she represented me in court better then I could have ever done and I finally got the justice I deserved. This brought down my anxiety and kept me safe knowing someone else I could trust was representing me and presenting my case the best way possible. I've had an ongoing custody battle for over 2 years now and after hiring Jenn and her team I was able to attain full custody of my son and child support. Bottom line if you're looking for a highly competent, experienced and hardworking lawyer you can be assured that Jenn will meet all your expectations and more. I am beyond grateful for her guidance and level of professionalism. She's the real deal and very pleasant to work with, down to earth and passionate in what she does. All my gratitude to Jenn and her team again I couldn't have done it without them!

I needed to have my Marital Settlement Agreement reviewed by an attorney other than the mediator my wife and I were using so I looked up divorce attorney/mediators on YELP and picked Aaron due to the many positive reviews. I contacted Mr. Aaron Lodge on Sept. 10th through leaving a message and following up with his…read moreassistant Mr Steve Wise. I spoke with them regarding obtaining a family law lawyer. I was told that I would need a consultation, so I pay the fee to talk on the phone with Mr Lodge for that consult. Durning this time I filled Mr. Lodge in on what was going on in my marriage from my side of the view. He ask several financial questions before advising me on what I should do moving forward. He explained to me that I need to keep my cool in all hostile situations where my wife would be trying to push me to do something physical that I didn't want to do. During our conversation I spoke about wanting to obtain him as my lawyer so I could move forward with my divorce. The cost to do such, was a $6000 dollar retainer fee that I paid on October 3rd after a major incident happened at my house where my wife left me no choice but to file for divorce. I paid the $6K and then proceeded with helping me file the divorce paperwork. I send the paperwork back to Mr. Lodge who filed the petition. It wasn't accepted so he refilled it back out and signed my name and submitted it again. He reach out later to tell me it was done and how to serve her the proper papers. During my consultation we spoke of my case in great detail, then after the paperwork was filed he pushed me into allowing him to become the mediator in our divorce. I didn't understand why he wanted to do this but thought it wouldn't hurt. I later thought about all the things I disclosed to him during and after our consultation and started to wonder if my Spouse knew he had given me strong advice on how to hold my cool in situations where she is verbally abusive and or blacked out drunk, where she is trying to get a reaction out of me. After we spoke a few times on the phone and he negotiated his way from the attorney I thought I was retaining to the mediator he told me not to tell my spouse of our past conversations where I had disclosed private matters of this case from my point of view. All in all, I don't want to have a mediator and now when I ask for a refund, he doesn't respond to me at all. This is very unprofessional in my opinion. I will not be using him moving forward no matter what. Im trying to get him to refund my money as he has done nothing to earn it and now that he has treated me in such a manner, I don't want to work with him at all. Please advise on how to handle this situation. Thank you.

I went to Mr Stinson upon the recommendation of another Family Law attorney who could not take more clients. All I needed was a review of an MSA and Mr Stinson did not waste my time. I was very happy with the outcome, he really went to bat for me even though our professional relationship was fairly new. I'll always be grateful for how he represented my case and for the compassion and care he showed me. He was also very reasonable in working out the total cost knowing that I'd already spent so much in the previous years with my first attorney. I highly recommend Tom for any Family Law issue you may be having!

Since the 2 stars (which equates to the "[service] could've been better") were due to the unprofessionalism and inattentiveness shown (not due to her being an LDA), I have no reason to change my rating or delete my review. TL;DR: Marizen is NOT a lawyer. She is a Legal Document Assistant that cannot provide you with legal advice. She is a significantly affordable option for a Living Trust but she is unprofessional and has poor attention to detail-- key characteristics that are paramount to detailing an important document. Details: I left a Living Trust inquiry via her site and Marizen emailed me back within 1 day to "text" her back for a scheduled over-the-phone consult. Upon speaking with Marizen it was clear she did not take the time to review the few questions I had sent her in my initial inquiry as she was confused as to what the consult would primarily be regarding. Her rates were significantly less than what other competing services were offering which raised an orange flag for me. Upon further research, I realized Marizen was NOT a lawyer, but rather a "Legal Document Assistant (LDA)." According to the CA Attorney General, LDAs cannot give legal advice. This was my first encounter with an LDA, which allowed me the opportunity to do the necessary research to make a more educated investment. Had Marizen gotten back to me with the necessary next steps and questionnaire as she had promised (it's been over 1.5 weeks), I may have considered her as a possible option to complete my Living Trust needs. But if you are looking for a more affordable option, perhaps Marizen is a good fit for you.
