You can hear the traffic from the outside street at times but the sound of the water helps to drown the city noise. It was 5,50 EU per adult. Not sure about children. They do have a snack shop that was open that sold daifuku "good luck" Mochi and rice balls. There were other things but those two delicacies looked delicious.

You can see the black scorch marks where the castle burned and Frankenstein fell five stories when the floors collapsed inside the main castle structure. Wild approach through a tiny tunnel. Easy to miss the access point. Looks like you can't get up there but you can! Long healthy hike up hill that will make you feel great when you reach the castle on top. Goats run out to greet you as you walk up the hill. Park at the front of the church. Then start walking. One of the most exciting experiences you will ever have!

Schloßberghöhlen is Europe's largest sandstone caves…read more As part of the Hohensalzburg Castle - we were advised there are something like 10-12 levels that were once used primarily for defense. During World War II the townsfolk used the caves for protection against air raids. In more modern times, the caves were used as banquet halls and for raves.......recognizing the potential hazard to the structural walls ( as they are only sandstone & one can scrape sediment away w/ one's fingers ) the site was closed off and is currently being turned into an educational / tourist destination Layers of mineral deposits show where this was once all underwater from the swirls in the pattern of red & tan layers They prefer guided tours - hardhats are issued at check in & you can reserve tour guides who speak a variety of languages We walked around the 1 level they currently have open - there are large buttons along the way which will light up parts of the cave & showcase various points of interest. We saw roots from trees on top of the mountain we were currently under; the "Throne Room" with its huge, cavernous rotunda; and a banquet hall that still had a large wooden table in it - must have been where they held their events. I was just there last year and the park has been updated. I must say I'm very happy that the very long slide is till there along with the small zip line. There is a great restaurant nearby and restrooms are very clean. Lots of tourist pamphlets to pick up here including the bus schedule and various bike routes. If you have a question on how to get somewhere on the bike trails the locals are very happy to help. There are various trails to take in the woods. The actual Devils Table is an amazing sight to see. It hasn't changed much and that is good. Take your climbing boots and be ready to use those legs to get you up to ride the "slide of life". That's what my family calls it.
