Depends on what you come here for, the wait can be quite long. Unfortunately, in the last year, I've been to this place three times. One of our longest visits was 9.5 hours long overall. It was crazy, but at least I had many things done that day. During that visit, I came in with very bad back and neck pain following a car crash that had happened a few months earlier. It was pretty hard to convince them that I needed an MRI, but when we finally got the referral, we had to wait about 5 hours before it was done. Another issue we faced was that the referral was only for a lower back MRI. It was my first MRI ever, and I was already very scared, tired, and hungry. So when I got to the MRI room and was told they were only scanning my lower back, I got visibly upset. Big thanks to the two gentlemen who were helping me get ready for the MRI. One of them helped me calm down, while the other spoke to the doctor and convinced her to include a neck MRI too, since I was already there. I am very thankful for that. The MRI did reveal some findings, and after a few other tests, the doctor referred me to see specialists in the future. Another thing I want to mention is my experience with one of the nurses. She measured my blood pressure. The first time, the results came out too low, and she literally said "That cant be right". Then she measured it two more times until the results were higher. I have low blood pressure! For me, 90/50 is somewhat normal. The fact that she kept remeasuring until it was "higher" felt a little weird. Overall, it can really be hit or miss depending on who you get to take care of you while you are here. read more

Some of the workers are fine and have a pleasant attitude yet others look at you like you are unwelcome to the place! Had to place an ER visit and while it was expected to have hour or so wait but this turned into over 5 hours wait before we could get to the root of it all! The nurse aides most of them do a half way job and some of the nurses don't take people's pain seriously! They definitely seem like they need to have an empathy class and how to treat all patients as individuals not just a room number. The janitors and cooks definitely were the nicest part of my Kaiser visit! They actually wished a patient to be well and weren't acting as though one bothered them when they got asked a question. read more

Starting with the security first people you see they are very rude completely unwelcoming. The ER is as empty when I got in after 15 min someone came up to check me in the same person I heard talking to another staff member about what lunch they were eating. The nurse that checked the people in after me they were rude and raised their voice at the other patients, treated everyone like crap. Two patients later walked out because they were so rude. I appreciate what nurses do but this one along with the security staff are not helpful nor showed any sort of humanity. read more

I give one extra star for the staff who were all incredibly friendly and positive despite a constant overwhelm of patients. Otherwise the ER is a horror. Everyone there spent 6+ hours waiting for care. No one was triaged or given priority, not those doubled over in pain for hours, not babies, not the elderly, no one. They literally told me "I just need a number for your pain scale for the system, a 0 or a 10 it doesn't change our course of treatment, it changes nothing we do." That was quality feeling care, not. The waitroom was packed, every seat filled, people in wheelchairs in the walkways, people sitting outside in the cold and dark on the benches, and people standing, all waiting for care. There is no reception, the nurses have to do double work to check people in, in a very rudimentary seeming system. More security workers than nurses. The biggest horror was the cleanliness and sanitation. There is none. Our 6 hours in that waiting room and not a single person cleaned or disinfected anything, masks were not encouraged, I watched multiple people with infectious eye diseases touching things, and nothing was sanitized or even cleaned. To top it off when I went in the back my nurse put gloves on and then touched her hair and all other random things, dropped my blood draw materials on the floor and then proceeded to use all the same stuff. Very concerning. And saddest of all, I had to have a traumatic ER experience after 4hours of talking with nurses and staff on the phone before the 6 hours in the ER and only had to go to the ER because all of kaiser is overbooked (minimum 1.5 months wait for appointments in any department) and understaffed making it so that I could not be seen in the office. 10 hours of dealing with kaiser in one day for some blood work. read more

I received excellent care from the minute I walked in the door, to the time I left - eight hours later. The Doctor was incredibly caring and thorough, not giving up until we got to the bottom of what was causing me acute pain. Every nurse, and each technician was kind, caring and attentive. Here we go again with a 5 star review for the XLNT care I recieved while in a severe SVT attack in full on arrhythmia. I drove myself in, not chancing waiting for paramedics. I was checked in almost immediately by a triage nurse that felt my pulse and realized I needed help (!) NOW...I was whisked back and was surrounded by paramedics doctors and nurses, and I was in the middle of my own personal drama. Scary to say the least...I thought I was going to buy the farm, completely aware they were having a difficult time cardioverting me. I owe my life to Kaiser hospital. I saw my primary the next day and a cardiologist the day after that and was given a beta blocker for 2 weeks before my ablation in Santa Clara. I would not hesitate recommending Kaiser Hospital. When your life is on the line, you are taken seriously, and, they seriously deliver! read more

If I could give no stars for our experience today. Their incompetence is beyond me. This is by far the worst experience we've had here. Apparently my 3 year old daughter isn't a priority because they have us sitting in a room for 4 hours and the lady was surprised no one came to check on us. We had to track someone down. I would suggest avoiding the ER. Your week wait for an appointment would be faster than this. read more

I have a liat of stuff that srsly surprises me about this particular ER. This is the ONLY ER I have ever been to that 1) Doesn't allow backpacks (why tf do they care?) 2) literally tells people to quiet down if they cry or moan/yell in pain, or "carry on" in any way. What tf do they think they are? Not a hospital? A hospital is the ONLY place where crying or yelling in pain should be taking place. I just couldn't get beyond that point. 3) has nurses publically loud speak and shame patients right tf in front of otuer patients. I was listening to a nurse tell another for ten mins that a patient was verbatim "a f***ng r*t*rd for refusing a (very personal) exam. Ugh! Anyways I have 2 stars because the waiting room is generally cleaner then other ER's. But clean waiting room doesn't make up for attitude issues. read more

excellent service, excellent experience, from security and reception, through nursing, techs, and doctors--extremely knowledgeable and super nice. had a great experience! if i could say one thing that might need a tiny improvement, it would be improved communication between personnel at shift changes, regarding the patients, their history and what diagnostics are needed. but this is a small thing. I am shocked by all of the bad reviews found here. Nothing could be farther from my truth. We have used this ER 5 times in the last 30 years, the last being today, and we have absolutely no regrets or complaints on any trip there. Relating today's experience, we were seen within 5 minutes of arrival and within 2 hours we had triage, IVs, 2 doctor visits, ultrasound and ct scan. All personnel were friendly we witnessed constant motion by all. As to cleanliness, it was very clean and what you would expect in a hospital. Many of the prior reviews seem like people expect some kind of concierge service. It's an ER! Be glad they're there. read more

Interesting visits to say the least! I've unfortunately been a patient as well as assisting for someone here and honestly both times have been "okay" but disappointing compared to other hospital ER rooms/service. When I was a patient here, the bed side manner was good, but it was quite slow for any assistance. Thankfully it was not a life or death situation, which may of played into it, but still a tad disappointing. Either way, I was in an hour within a few hours for some minor issues. When it came to assisting someone else, this is where it fell to shambles. They were a Kaiser member, so I'd expect less trouble, but it was pretty terrible. Upon a long wait for a major issue, which I can understand to a certain degree due to the volume of people waiting, it still was concerning. It was only followed with lackluster advice from the ER MD, which basically opted for over the counter medicine to solve the problem (Not ideal for the situation). Essentially left with a deductible for over the counter medicine is what I would not expect in that situation. Could it of been better, of course, but honestly left with a middle of the road review at this point. read more

This is the worst place absolutely not recommended we took our daughter there with a cut on her forehead that needed stitches and they had us in the waiting room for over 3 hours and we asked 3 times and every time they would just say your next and that never happened we ended up leaving and going to a different ER in Petaluma and huge difference. Worst experience! Took my daughter to the ER per the advice nurse. The way they handle the check in process is horrible. The lady comes out with a post it note 30 mins after arriving, to write your name on, takes your medical card and walks away. Weird process... anyway, they finally call us back and put us in an "exam" room to wait for the doctor... let me tell you.... This room was disgusting! How could you even put a patient in here... floors, cabinets, sink, bed and curtains were all dirty! Used gauze on the floor, garbage on floor, and a bucket with water just sitting on a tray with plastic in it..Even saw a sticker above the door saying the room was cleaned/checked 8/20! Well it's 3/29 so what's up with that?! Multiple employees coming in the room to grab items and I think one felt bad about the condition of the room and tried to tidy up while we were in there. Overall I'm sad that my daughter has to be a Kaiser patient.. you're just a number in here.. they don't care... they just wanna shove pills down your throat and send you on your way. Go to a different Kaiser ER. As an elderly female patient (I am in the youth of elderly age) the treatment at the Kaiser Santa Rosa facility is terrible. The we don't care about you (just die already) was clear and disheartening during my more than 3 time visit(s) during a misdiagnosed and delayed treatment of Pneumonia and Pericarditis. 7 weeks in bed at home and 9 months to recover. In my weak and quite ill condition I fortunately had family at my bedside to advocate for me but the obvious passive aggressive age and gender discriminiation from the nursing and physician staff was glaring. For example, excessive wait time for basic care and assessment (fever, increased heart rate), physician less than five minute room visit with uninterested attitude, nursing hostility with possible medication error due to uncharted med being given and my questioning why I was receiveing the same drug again. Other instances of ER visits to this facility have been the same. My male partner who recently had a crisis however was treated immediately, admitted to an ER bed for 3 days, and had better care overall. The culture at this campus and ER is weird as I have experienced and heard from other Kaiser members in this area. What is driving it?? read more

Go somewhere else. Save yourself. The staff is horrifically nasty to anyone they think is poor. I was in so much pain, that I could not answer their questions as fast as they asked them. The staff decided I was homeless and drug seeking. They literally threw me out before the medication could have a chance to work. I was forced into the most painful positions during the intake process. This ER is an absolute DANGER. read more

I took my wife into the emergency room in the middle of the night. We got there and checked her in and I preceded to wait with my daughter in the waiting room until my wife returned. It took 4 hrs for them to figure out what was wrong and around 7 in the morning one of the nurses kicked me and my daughter out because of covid restriction bull shit but it was ok for us to wait inside prior. My wife needed my assistance to walk her from the check in to our car because she had extreme virtigo and the staff risked her safety. Extremely disappointed with kaiser. read more
