I always make time to visit Coffeeberry when in Norway. They were really the first coffee place…read morethat embraced quirky and iced drinks. This location is great - the line always moves fast and it's near the malls and parking. The coffee is more like an ice cap (think Tim Horton's style) and not really iced coffee like you would expect in the US. It's very tasty, maybe a bit more sugary than I'd like, but really a decent coffee. Not as strong as some you'll find elsewhere so I wouldn't go here if your goal is the strongest coffee around. They also sell lots of packaged coffee - very big assortment and related coffee products. I didn't try any of their bakery goods this trip but have in the past and they're good, similar to other coffee houses.

On my previous visit they prepared the food, but forgot to bring it to the table. The long wait rendered it hardened and substandard. However, no compensation was offered. The next time the waitress denied that there was a wifi. While I went to the the cashier to get the password, the same waitress cleaned off my table - before I had been served. Taking a good bite of my burger, I realized it was a cheddar burger without cheddar. The waitress brought the burger back to the kitchen where they put on the cheddar - on the burger I had started on. Being reheated it ended up too dry, lacking in taste. On the other hand, the staff are friendly and smile - that compensates for a lot.

I had not yet had a burger in Norway and figured as it was my last night, why not get one? He seemed to love his meal. Me? Not so much. I guess they use frozen burger patties (our server had to come and tell us that there was a delay as they had to thaw one in order to make mine-I would not have ordered it, had I known). It had an odd flavor and texture. The hamburger roll was a bit dry. The fries were perfect and they gave me a tasty cheese to dip with to apologize for the delayed meal. Service was excellent. The restaurant is beautiful. Maybe if I was to go again, choosing a different option would offer a better meal.

But they…read morehave guest rooms, priced well and just about the best location you can get if you are in Sandnes - on the main shopping street, near the transit center / train station, and walking distance to everything Sandnes has to offer. One tip if you stay at Gamle Vaerket - get a room that has a window to the "outside" - ie: real nighttime air. We didn't have A/C in our room and it was one of the rooms with a window opening to the inside of the hotel. Those windows can let in hotel/bar noise, but they don't cool the room down much. We still liked our room, and they had fans which helped keep it somewhat cool. (Note - their web site lists air conditioning as a feature - either #201's A/C was busted or they are generous with their definition. The outside hallway was cool, so somewhere there was air conditioning, but our room tended towards stuffy and we didn't see an obvious way to cool the room other than the two fans. I'd book one of the outside facing rooms just to be sure.) Breakfast and wifi was included. The breakfast buffet was good, including a fair variety of basics with a few regional flavors for the locals or the adventurous (herring and brown cheese, for example).
