It's a bit removed from the beach, but I've generally felt the premium Noosa Heads stretch to be unimpressive and not worth the money, so I come here to Noosa Junction for food. Happily in this case, as the spinach dal I ordered was delicious and well rounded in flavor. I usually don't order that dish as I'm worried about the spinach overwhelming the spices, but that didn't happen in this case. It also came with an orange garnish, an unusual choice. Why orange for your spicy spinach lentils? Is it: A. The vitamin C in the orange juice reduces the non-heme iron in the spinach to its ferrous form for easier absorption B. I really should take a vacation from studying medicine C. Who cares it's delicious D. etc. etc. ... In any case, the saffron rice (included in the price, which isn't standard in Australia) and potato bread I ordered topped the night off well, and I'd be happy to eat here again. Note: their prices for taking out or eating in are significantly different if that matters to you.

In fact, their dal fry was filled with a delectably fresh mix of lightly charred peppers and onions, but also a surprisingly vicious kick. Not that I'm complaining, but after ordering it without rice, I had to go back and get some to dilute the stuff down. Their special naan was fine; I might sooner order a tasty appetizer though. They were a tad condescending, but I find this unavoidable; little do they know my spice tolerance. I'd go back again, with a bit more respect for their menu this time.

Things went well when we arrived, a friendly greeting, our wine opened, glasses provided, but it all went downhill after our order was taken. It took over half an hour for the entrees to arrive (during which time a waitress asked if we would like her to remove the entree plates) and almost as long for the mains. Fortunately we had plenty to talk about, but the young family at the next table had two young boys falling asleep before they finished eating. The waitress asked if we would like more poppadums - they never arrived - and if we would like anther jug of water - ditto. A very pleasant meal spoilt by very poor service.

When we went an incredibly warm and friendly grandmother was making all the food solo on the stove, and absolutely everything was transcendently delicious. Highly recommend the butter chicken, which was beautifully spiced and creamy without being overly sweet, and the palak paneer, which was less oily and more flavourful than I've had elsewhere. The naan was superb too--I'd suggest the naan makhni. This place is tucked away from some of the more swanky, noisy joints in Peregian and has a lovely quiet spot opposite the park and the beach. The cheese and spinach naan I got was less impressive, fairly bland and only really good dipped in curry. Getting a rice and a bread wouldn't usually be necessary (I was hungry); note that you do have to order rice separately from the main course. I'd order differently next time, but I would go back for a next time.

Goat Madras curry ($20.50) with all the trimmings (naan, salad, rice etc) all served up within 10 minutes of ordering. All dishes were absolutely delicious. Just the right amount of spice (medium hot) in the curry and lovely moist Tandoor chicken with a refreshing mint sauce made my taste buds tingle. Yum yum yum. Royal Bombay lager increased the attractiveness of my wife and complemented the food spectacularly. Best Indian dining experience on The Sunshine Coast for a long time
