Indian with a Mexican twist? Well, I constantly eat Indian food, but I've found Mexican to be somewhat hostile to vegetarians and I've always avoided it. So how is this going to work out? Pretty well. They had a buffet just about going, but I didn't want to wait to them to set it up, and I ended up with a chickpea curry, rice, and bread. There was a little extra zest to that chickpea curry that might have been some Mexican spice, and it was pretty darn filling. The cheese and spinach naan I got was less impressive, fairly bland and only really good dipped in curry. Getting a rice and a bread wouldn't usually be necessary (I was hungry); note that you do have to order rice separately from the main course. What a lovely find thanks to Yelp! I was enjoying an extra long weekend holiday in Caloundra and wanted to check out the culinary delights of the area. This was a wonderful place to have lunch! My friends and I ended up ordering four different curries to share and my other friend ordered chicken fajitas. We ordered two curries that were not spicy and two that were: Seafood Korma (not spicy), Chicken Tikka Masala (not spicy), Lamb Roganjosh (spicy), and Andry Madras Beef Curry (spicy). We loved all of them and after awhile, the heat started kicking in. At first, I was thinking that they were not hot at all but it would sneak up on you. I could have definitely had it more heated though. The table consensus of the favorite was the seafood korma! The flavor was delicious and no one could get enough. We shared the curries with two garlic naans and one serving of rice which was perfect for us. We also ordered the bacon cheese garlic chili oregano naan as well! They have an indi-mex special which is where the fajitas fall under. The fajitas were filling for my friend with chicken tossed with bell peppers and onions topped with salsa. They treated us very well and served the food very promptly. The meal was perfect. There was nothing leftover and we were ready to roll down to the beach. Highly recommend this place. Service and food were excellent! It's right off the main road but you will be able to smell it with your nose. read more

The Short: Probably the best Indian I've had since living in Toowong about five years ago. The Long: After a bit of Yelp stalking, my wife and I agreed upon Indiyum for dinner, after a decidedly average day dining at the chain eateries along the foreshore (avoid at all costs, because there are better just a block away). It was a breath of fresh air walking into the small dining space that Indiyum offers it's diners. The tables are brightly coloured, and Puerto Rican music was ringing out. This might seem strange for an Indian restaurant, but ignore that and just go with it. We had curries: the Saagwala Chicken and the Tikka Masala Chicken. We also opted for the Pilaf (instead of plain rice) and a whole wheat Roti. All of these dishes were excellent. The Tikka was just delightful to eat, with the creamy tomato gravy perfectly contrasting the spice and heat of this medium dish. The Saag was equally as good, and was by far the greenest Saag I've ever enjoyed at an Indian restaurant (which suggests that there was plenty of Spinach). Out of the two, my preference was the Tikka. The Pilaf was decided upon because we both didn't want the normal steamed rice affair that most would opt for with curries. And we're really glad we chose it. The Pilaf was full of spice, but not heat, and fresh veggies including perfectly cooked potato. I would wholly recommend Yelpers get the Pilaf to accompany their dishes. It is about twice the price of steamed rice, but it adds an extra dimension to the curries and is worth treating yourself to. The Naan gave off this yeastiness and warmth to it when it hit the table. I can only describe it as being wholesome, because for a bread it was a real delight mopping up the sauces with it. I was originally put-off by the tag line of Indiyum (Fair Dinkum Indian), but I'm glad I dropped any ideas of what was wrong with the name and how it affected my perceptions of the authenticity of the restaurant. Once you read the menu, and get the lo-down about the back story to the tag-line, you'll understand why it was chosen. Just go with it, and you'll have a great dining experience. read more

Indiyum yum yum........ this was a pleasant dining experience. Despite being a fusion Indi/mex restaurant the Indian flavours were not compromised and the Mexican structure complimented the Indian palette. Service was warm as a vindaloo and the plates were as packed as a street in New Delhi. This is definitely a high 4 and we will be Korming back again for for sure. read more

Excellent filling flavoursome Indian food, lovely staff. Spice level was appropriate to what requested - I would recommend 'hot' myself!

No wonder that this is the highest rated indian place (if not highest rated restaurant) on the coast. The food is incredible. The spices and the flavors were a taste explosion in my mouth. The menu is fun, a fantastic range to choose from and the indian / mexican fusion works perfectly. The naan bread was hot, fresh and to be honest....perfect. the flavors to choose from far exceed the standard cheese, garlic etc. The one I picked was Cheese, bacon, chilli and herb and it was incredible. The vibe in the place was great, the staff were exceptional and the food was very reasonably priced. Even though we're from Adelaide we will definitely be back again everytime we come up here. This place is interesting, in that they serve an eclectic mix of Indian classics and Mexican-inspired fusion dishes. This works out well for me, as Indian food generally isn't my preferred cuisine. So while you can get all of your Indian favorites here, you can also enjoy guacamole that's better than what you'll find at most Mexican restaurants on the Coast. Or a Bombitto, which is an Indian take on a traditional Mexican burrito. It's filled with curried chicken or lamb, topped off with fresh salsa, guacamole, and sour cream, and ridiculously good. The only problem with the Bombitto is that it discourages me from trying some of their other dishes. Prices are reasonable, and portions are generous. I've never gone home from Indiyum hungry. read more

Quirky little restaurant just off the main drag (behind Tides Waterfront). The staff are friendly and helpful, and judging by the number of people coming in to dine in or take away, it must be a popular joint - and rightly so! My thoughts: The Goan Seafood curry. TO DIE FOR. Going out on a limb here, but I'd say it was one of the best curries I've ever had. Garlic naan was also amazing. Unfortunately, Lamb Briyiani rice was a little disappointing. Indian food is one of my favourites. Having been to many Indian restaurants I probably have very high expectations so I apologise up front for giving only a 3 star rating. My wife had the chicken korma and I had the beef vindaloo. My wife enjoyed the korma. I found the vindaloo to be a bit milder than I expected based on its write up (warning patrons that they use Trinidad scorpion chillies). The naan bread was a bit crusty and rice servings were on the small side. There also wasn't an extensive wine list which was also a bit disappointing. When visiting Caloundra again I will definitely give this eatery another go and will probably talk to the waitress about beefing up the spiciness of my curry a tad. read more

Glad we stopped by to check out this local Indian Restaurant found on Yelp while staying at Rolling Surf Resort, 700m-800m stroll along the waterfront from where we were and this place was a treat. Yep...yum!!! Had the chicken tikka masala, paneer saagwala, coconut rice, and garlic naan. Would go regularly if I lived in the area!

We were staying at the hotel above this place and decided to give it a go. We were more than impressed. The food was really tasty and filled you up for a reasonable price. Beware the kids fish and chips had a tiny bit of spice in the fish batter which one of my kids didn't like but the other two didn't notice. All in all highly recommended. read more
