Visiting Helsinki for two weeks, wanted to get supplies, also see the local grocery. This place has so much good stuff! First of all, when you're eating out all the time, a salad bar is delightful! Sold by weight, a pretty large to-go salad container cost about 7 euros, and I really filled it up and even added some dressing which made it a little heavier. They have a really plentiful salad bar (with salmon and like 8 different cheeses, chicken, pork, eggs, falafel, all kinds of dressing choices, and iceberg AND mixed lettuce which is important to salad bar connoisseurs), they have a small hot bar (but a café out front with more), a fruit bar (with delicious sweet pancakes), fixins, and a bulk candy and nut display. In addition, lots of prepared sandwiches and salads. ALSO the hot deli is fantastic, all kinds of warm prepared dinner like food, meatballs, roasted chicken, 5 kinds of potatoes, salmon, pork/ham, some kind of delicious looking macaroni and cheese thing, etc. plus more cold stuff like potato salad, cole slaw and other things. I came for lunch/dinner stuff, but the store has pretty much everything a grocery store should, for visitors or for residents. I even got Moomin napkins. I could tell it was popular and the food was good because of the long line at the deli. Keep in mind, for visitors, they don't have much in the way of pharmaceutical items-you have to go to the pharmacy for most of those (I was looking for medicine and special toothpaste, so found that out). read more
