Super easy shopping experience with so many great choices. I especially loved their little kids'…read moresection. They had all the fruit pouches you could possibly need, which made things really convenient. It's also very close to F6 Hotel, so the location honestly couldn't be easier if you're staying nearby. The market itself is clean, well organized, and the staff are incredibly kind and helpful. Pro tip: don't forget to weigh the bananas before heading to checkout!
A Solid market! Get smarket! This place is pretty good-…read moreit's got a wide selection of foods, at good prices. It's a good sized grocer in the basement of a shopping center. There's an escalator to get down there, and you have to rent a cart for a Euro. There's no fee for carrying around a basket. The produce section wasn't so great, but it did have the basic fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices. The dairy section was stocked with all kinds of weird cheeses I'd never seen before. One day when I went, they were sampling up the local cheeses in the aisle. Score! There's a large bakery section, with a huge variety of rye breads. Go for the ones with lumberjacks on them, or the one shaped like a cat for extra flavor. They also have a big selection of pre-made foods, like cassaroles, fish, meats, sausages, etc. If you wanna grab a bite to go, this is a popular spot. The fish selection was some of the best I'd seen in a supermarket- they must've had salmon prepared two dozen different ways. The beer selection is pretty primo too! They have mostly canned beers, but with a huge variety of beers from across Europe at discount prices. Many of them are kept cold, but the majority of the craft beers are kept warm. You can buy most of the beers as singles, or as 6+packs, so I chose to jump around with different local(ish) breweries that I'd never heard of. Finland's a cold place, the beer chills really quickly, so don't worry about them being sold warm. I've never seen such a licorice selection- they had all kinds of the local flavors and varieties. The local specialty is the salted licorice- they have some good examples of this in their huge selection of flavors and brands. It takes up about a quarter of an aisle. I think you get charged for a shopping bag, so you might try to save by bringing your own. The check-out lines were long, but it seems that they're (unsuccessfully) trying out a self-checkout system. In all, it's a great place to stop by near the train station for fresh or packaged foods!

The most impressive feature to me was their beer selection! I thought that we would have to go to Alko to get decent beers but there were two whole aisles and a refrigerated case full of both international and local brews. Of course being in Finland there were also some ciders but it seemed like the only one they have that isn't sickly sweet is Magners. The prices seemed very fair to me and the place was kept very clean and organized.
Hot stuff!
Dishonest scales! This place is in the basement of a…read morehigh-end shopping center in downtown Helsinki. They offer a small range of produce, a bunch of chips and paper products, with a heavy emphasis on prepackaged foods. Went I went to buy produce, the scales wouldn't tare out. Mashing all the buttons didn't seem to help, and I couldn't get a fair weigh on my produce. They jacked up the price of my tomatoes and avocados with their 'thumb upon the scale', so I put everything back and walked out. The place was busy, and well lit. If you buy anything here, there's no loading it directly into your car, this is purely a pedestrian shop.

Whereas on my first days went to Siwa and spent 35€ on what seemed to be 5 things. There is a fresh meat/seafood and produce section and each grocery section offers several international brands. I was able to get my favorite condiments made in the US, Thailand and my favorite laundry detergent made in Mexico! As stated above, everything here is resonably priced except the steak which was 49€/kg, which unless it was Japanese Kobe beef, is ridiculous. But depending on where it was from, could have been due to import costs.
