I hired Jake Wirtjes from JW Landscaping to do a job in a property I own in Mesa, Arizona and it turned out to be a bad experience. In fact, my experience was so unpleasant that I decided to open a Yelp account just to write this review. Mr. Wirtjes 'company' was hired to remove the old weeds and grass in both the front and backyard and properly layout rock/desert landscaping. Mr. Wirtjes was very aware we were working with a tight deadline and that pursuant to him finishing the job our realtor would enlist a photographer to take pictures of the home in preparation for selling the home. The day Mr. Wirtjes was scheduled to commence the job he and my mother discuss the job at length. My mother told Mr. Wirtjes that unless he applied/sprayed enough weed killer that new grass/weeds would return and quickly. My mother's concern with weeds/grass stemmed from the fact that the photo shoot was scheduled for a week out. Mr. Wirtjes told my mother that JW Landscaping's monthly landscaping fee was $60; but that if whatever reason weeds/grass sprouted that he would 'take care of it' (and I should point out Mr. Wirtjes emphatically said there would be NO weeds/grass). Well, not even three days following the conclusion of the job the backyard was littered with weeds/grass. When we called Mr. Wirtjes and asked if he'd laid out tarp/plastic, which is customary for these types of jobs, he said 'no'. We requested that JW Landscaping return to the property and correct the issue with weeds/grass and Mr. Wirtjes agreed, but for a change of $60. This was unsettling since I expected him to keep his word and not charge us. After much debate back and forth, we agreed on $40 and a date/time for Mr. Wirtjes to come back to the property. Well, not only did Mr. Wirtjes not show up to the appointment but Mr. Wirtjes has yet to return any of my calls/texts/emails. I'm extremely disappointed with Mr. Wirtjes and JW Landscaping. I wish I were able to recoup some of the money spent hiring someone else to fix the mess. read more

Jake arrived when scheduled to provide a quote for landscaping/yard work and trash removal. We live on a large lot and there was plenty of bushes/trees/plants that needed tending too. I scheduled for yard work TWICE and both times the crew failed to show up. Even worse, I tried to contact Jake after the second no-show and didn't even get a response back. I hired Jake in May 2017. While he was working on my job (removing a couple small trees down to a stump), he had a problem with a chain saw and said he would come back in a couple days to finish the work. Most of the work was completed, so I paid him. He never returned. Several contacts occurred and he had excuses, and promised several return appointments - all were missed. His number now seems to go straight to a voice mail box that has not been set up. I can't leave a message and he doesn't answer texts. I finally had to start hacking away at the unfinished work after chasing him for over a month to no avail. Deal with JW Landscaping and Jake Wirtjes at your own risk.
