My daughter wanted a similar (looking) watch so I decided to resurrect it. The owner fixed it and put on an armband. Although it was purchased in Beaumont Texas in the 1980s, he remembered what it used to cost in Austrian schilling. As I said, a great place.

I went into Wempe this morning to purchase a timepiece. I was greeted by Friedrich Neulinger and…read morewas informed that while they did not have that particular piece in stock, they could obtain it within the week. I then inquired if I could obtain 15-20% discount as it is a customary discount level for most timepieces of this caliber. He told me that if I knew so much about his business, then I don't need to purchase from him. It was such an abrupt retort to a normal question during sales. He was right, I didn't need to purchase from him. So I thanked him for his time and promptly left.
