Since the first time I ever walked into her store, a few years ago, this lady always has what I need and just what I am looking for. Priced right antiques, folk art, country art, useful things, spoil yourself things, linens,candles, kitchenware, floral arrangements, sleds!, I could go on. This store is right in the heart of the Clarence Hollow and is worth stopping in to browse and visit and mmmmmmm just smell. A light and pleasant scent is in there although I cannot for the life of me identify it. Starrgate General sells something for everybody and Jane's eye can help with decor dilemna. If she doesn't have it , she can find it. If you have a minute stop in and if you have a day scheduled for antiquing or browsing in the hollow, make sure you have Starrgate General on your list. It was also rather eerie, note on the door to call the owner saying he was in the basement and to open the door. The place looked haunted and the old man was sort of creepy. Mainly light fixtures , chandeliers, some metal ware, so if you're in the market for vintage lamps or ceiling lights, you just may find it, if you can navigate the disarray. No ceramics or glassware, the dude said he didn't like breakables. Skip it, you'll thank me later!

He is one of the nicest and knowledgable dealers I have dealt with. He was invaluable to me when I refurbished my 1892 Victorian home. I was able to replace all the "creepy" new fixtures they had put in the house with beautiful gaslight fixtures as the house was built with. He helped me customize fixtures from his vast "eerie" storage of stock. His shop might not meet your "white glove" treatment for cleanliness but he is always willing to help those customers that are serious antiques shoppers and not ones looking to try their hands writing gothic novel. Easy to pass by while driving down Main, as are most of the shops along that road, but I've got to say that this is one you shouldn't be passing up, especially if you're a collector! Muleskinner has a fair variety of old relics, and cool items to check out. A lot of the pieces that grab your attention are incredibly unique; they definitely have a lot of things I've never seen before! They always have some furniture for sale, such as cabinets, doors, chests, chandeliers, but they also carry things like old bird cages, oil lamps, cups and jars, even old signs. Quite a few old rocking horses as well. If you're looking to spice up your home with a relic from the past, go to Muleskinner! I'll probably never stop praising their "back room" area -- the sale area. A lot of the objects are things like framed photographs, old toys and cameras...really whatever they decided to put back there! What's in that area is at a discounted price, lower than what they would have normally sold something at. I'm such a sucker for a good deal; I bought an old oil lamp from these guys for only $18, and now it sits as a centerpiece for the table in my room. I truly could not be happier with what I've found there. As with every antique store, the objects for sale are always changing; you never really know what you're going to find! To paraphrase what the shop owner told me, "If you see something, and you think you want it, GET IT. Not just here, but everywhere you go. What you want could be gone the next time you decide that you actually want it!"

Recently, my mom and I took a class with Mandi at her space. We were also there with another lady…read more Her friend was supposed to also attend the class, but didn't feel well, so Mandi ended up doing the crafts alongside us by making them for the lady who couldn't attend. I thought that was pretty cool. I have been to other craft classes and I don't think I have ever seen the person running the class do the crafts for the person who couldn't attend. We really enjoyed ourselves. We made a welcome sign to hang on your door, and a key holder for your wall. The class was easy to follow and it was relaxed. We were able to take our time and didn't feel rushed at all. This was the first time my mom walked out of a craft class, or painting class, and genuinely had a great time, because we weren't on a time limit. Mandi was extremely helpful. I will definitely be back with a group to take part in more craft nights.
