LOVE IT! Older and younger people can find things!! Prices are decent! The workers are SO sweet and helpful! But some shops have AI art..

We learned about this place when we recently visited nearby Madison. Specifically, the owner of…read moreMadison Dry Goods recommended the marketplace. We made note of it and decided to stop in. My wife and I both enjoy searching (picking) used, vintage and antique items and are always looking for items that catch our eye. No, we are not hoarders! But we have found some random things that make us happy and on many occasions have made us money when we decided they should go to a new home. We had some time on a rainy Sunday afternoon and decided we would grab something to eat and find the Stokesdale Marketplace. We came here about 1pm. From the road, the building looks like a big warehouse. Pay attention to the directions because it is not immediately accessible from the main road. You need to enter on a side road to access the parking lot. We parked and walked inside. Looking down the walkway, my wife said, "wow, this place is huge!" We proceeded to begin walking through each area strategically so we wouldn't miss anything. We were surprised when we came to their indoor bar and snack area. Today it was closed but we thought it was a good idea. We were impressed they have a nice place to sit and ponder your future purchase or the purchase you just made. It also looked like they even have outdoor seating when the weather is nice. We found a few things for our house and will be back. It will also be a good place to bring out of town family when they visit.

Checked this place out while visiting my dad. Plenty of stalls/vendors to browse. Was able to pick…read moreup a vintage tablecloth and a couple postcards. Prices for the most part seemed reasonable.

Located in downtown Madison. Gift shop with a variety of nice clothing selections, local pottery,…read more various gift items.. Adjacent to a walk through dry goods/café. The café is closed on Monday. Upstairs there is an another section with antique curio booths with items for sale. Creaky floors in a very old building with a small walk through museum regarding the infamous family murder in the 1920s. Upstairs needs a good dusting. Friendly staff .

My wife reminded me there was a recent paranormal show we watched on Netflix that was filmed at Madison Dry Goods. I remembered the show and the impact on the people that stayed there during their 28 days. We actually talked about not wanting a ghost to attach to us and follow us home! We arrived a little after 2pm on a Saturday. Street parking was easy. We walked in and started to peruse the clothing area and were greeted by the owner. We learned he just purchased the business 11 days earlier. We chatted about the history and the filming for the Netflix show. As we began to look closer at their clothing items we were really impressed with the quality and their prices. They also had several racks featuring discounted items. We then walked over to the dry goods area which offered a lot of local products including honey, jams and jellies, popcorn, candy, grits and more. We decided to walk upstairs to look at the museum and some of the history of the hotel. This space was featured in the Netflix documentary and while it was cool it was also a bit creepy. We also learned they plan to use some of the space upstairs to have a antique marketplace area where people can rent booth space in the near future which will be a cool addition. We both ended up buying some clothing items and chatting with the owners. They were very welcoming and helpful. Wonderful stop and we will absolutely be back when we are in the area. Stop in and support this small business.
