Charging $200 for a trial is steep especially since she worked on the makeup for 45 minutes to an hour. I might have understood if the makeup ended up being amazing but I looked horrible. The correct shade wasn't used and my skin looked dry and aged. The original invoice sent to me quoted $100 for the trial. However, she charged me $200 after seeing my displeasure with the work and told me the $100 quote was actually for a hair consultation; a clear scam on their part. I've done 3 other consultations in New Orleans and no one else charged close to $200. This was by far the most unprofessional experience I've had. I've attached photos of our original agreement, as well as before and after photos of what the makeup looked like vs. what I looked like after wiping it off. I would not recommend Faces of Virtue to any bride looking for a positive and professional experience.

He spent all of 5 minute cutting my hair before he started blowing it out. He said he would cut more after blowing it out. Inferring my hair was so unmanageable that it was necessary. I have wavy hair, just above my shoulders. I've never had a stylist not be able to cut my hair while it was wet. He then began aggressively blowing out my hair, constantly hitting my shoulders with the styling brush. I finally had to ask him to not be so rough. I left with hair all over me because he made no effort at all. Barely said a word to me except to take off my glasses. I am a person of color and the only thing I can't infer from his behavior is that he was disgusted to work on my hair. Too bad, I really wanted to like this salon as I live two blocks away.

They were also perfectionists -- Jennifer custom-blended my extensions to perfectly match my real hair, and both spent a lot of time making sure that everything was perfect before I left. The result is that my hair looks absolutely amazing! After I was done (at around 9, since they stayed open late to see me), it was taking the cab forever to get there, and both of them waited with me for over an hour and called multiple cab companies until the cab got there. Jennifer was even ready to drive me and my bike home if the cab hadn't shown up. Overall, GO TO THE PARLOUR. Hands-down the best salon experience I've ever had.

They will even help you with things you didn't hire them for such as assisting a few minutes with flowers or suggestion with my wedding dress. They do more than they are hired for and are happy to do it. They make you look more beautiful and your pictures will look fabulous. I did have a hard time getting Emily to fax the contract after she received my deposit but when it came down to the week of the wedding she was there communicating with me via phone and email.

They were organized and timely - two girls left, leaving one makeup artist and one hair stylist (which made me nervous because of what happened with my own wedding hair) but they got everyone finished in a timely manner! The price we were quoted for hair and makeup was $90, and ended up being $120 - so that was a bit of a shock, but turns out it was because they used airbrush makeup and false lashes. In my opinion there shouldn't be a $20 difference just to get airbrush makeup - you don't pay extra for waterproof mascara, do you? but we weren't going to cause a scene and stress out the bride. All in all they got the job done and everyone looked pretty.
