We ate in so when the waitress slammed down our plates on the glass table it was quite startling! I had the Beef Burger, which was pretty good - not the 'best burger ever', but not bad either. Even the vegetarian was pleased - which was good since there was only one vegetarian option anyway. The only bad point were the chips, which were quite disappointing as they were soggy. Maybe they had not travelled well, but the burgers made it okay. Overall we will probably go back, but the search for the perfect team lunch take-away place continues.

These doughnuts are soft, delicious and come with a syringe filled with flavoured creams to inject into the doughnut. The cafe is located on a suburban side street so is more of a destination cafe than one you would accidentally walk past. We like sitting at the large street facing communist tables outside though there is plenty of space inside too. The menu is pretty big and features lots of burgers (brioche buns!). Lots of vegetarian options are available too. The milkshakes are pretty special: salted caramel or the not-on-the-menu-special pins colada! Coffee is by st Ali and is poured well. This is a nice cafe and I would happily go out of my way to visit it again.

The soft shell crab burger was succulent, soft and danced in a way that I have never seen a soft shell crab burger taste before. A perfect balance of mayo and ingredients that showed District North wasn't playing games. The zucchini and corn fritters were spot on, beautifully presented, showing vivid colours, with every element in harmony and complementing each other. The poached egg cooked perfectly to boot! For the drinks, we ordered the cleanser juice that had apple, kale, cucumber and lemon and the iced chocolate, with chocolate sauce, full cream milk and chocolate ice cream. Not as good as the soft shell crab, but they both came very close. District North understand balance and they preach getting the simple things right, which was evident in the cleanser juice. Iced chocolates usually disappoint because cafes do not understand what they are or how to make them, but you won't find that here. The iced chocolate is flawless, I wouldn't change a thing, sweet-tasting without being overpowered. They even got the presentation right with the chocolate sauce staining the inside of the glass and the ice cream floating in the clouds. District North delivered the perfect experience for us, which makes some negative reviews and low scores completely mystifying. Take my recommendation and ignore them, because you will be missing out on an essential lunch outing!
