Five Guys is quite an interesting chain, they take a twist on Mcdonald's, it is like a higher end, better quality and pricier version of that,a fast food chain with probably better burgers than an actual burger restaurant such as GBK.
The fast food nature of Five Guys is rather cool, they mainly have different people making your burger, but as I'm gluten free i was told that almost all toppings and the fries were suitable for my diet, just not the bun, so they basically wrapped by burger in lettuce, which was quite interesting but it wasn't great and i would really have preferred a gluten free bun with it.
The burger alone was quite expensive, as I recall a Bacon Cheeseburger was nearly £9 but you could pick up to 9 toppings for free including lettuce, tomatos, and grilled onions and mushrooms, I opted for lettuce, tomato and onions, while also getting some tomato sauce for the side.
I also liked the idea of using two thin patties rather than a thick one, which I preferred and made it feel like a better quality burger.
I didn't like how my burger was served, the basically prepared me to go, even though I was obviously sat down and eating in, with lots of tables free, I even felt rushed out, they bagged my item up into a paper bag and tinfoil, I didn't even get a plate!
The Medium chips was a rather huge portion, I was advised not to get this unless I was sharing them by a member of staff as they are huge, and they would be much bigger, and this was right and it was a decent portion, one again a little pricey at £4
Most of the burger was okay, however the cheese was basically a standard slice of Cheddar you would get with a £1 burger from Tesco, but still I liked this as the cheese was nicer and went better with the burger, and wasn't as strong.
The drinks machine was also quite interesting, a member of staff who served me seemed rather friendly and shown me how it worked, it came with unlimited refills for £2.95 and you could pick basically any drink such as Coca Cola, Sprite, Lemonade or Powerade mainly from Coca Cola companies, and combine it with any flavors, there were so many in all such as Fruit Punch, Lime, Vanilla and Raspberry I tried a Raspberry Powerade, Lime Coca Cola and Fruit Punch Lemonade, so definitely got my money's worth on that front!
Overall, the feel of Five Guys is quite nice, it feels new and quite cool but more of a place to go to get to-go food rather than eating in, in a way it is featured like an Old American Diner in terms of most booths.
I still think pricing is an issue especially for the whole "to-go" feature of this place, such as how my food was prepared, everything was paper or plastic, even the tomato sauce and the cutterly but still this is quite a cool place and I did reasonably enjoy my meal, but there was just too many issues such as the presentation in the way, such as all the onions being thrown onto the plate at the end, so I basically had to pick them up and eat them after my burger. While also considering issues with the drinks machine that not all flavors can go with every drink, the pricing and how this isn't really a fantastic place to sit-in, as much as I'd like I sadly don't feel this place deserves four stars but has just managed to grab a three star rating, which I feel is both generous and well deserved.
