When Jun Escario used neoprene for the first time early last year, he ended up buying a roll of every color of the fabric. Being a fan of freestyle draping, Jun made neoprene his choice of fabric because he finds it easy to maneuver and effortless to cut. Since then, he took the unique path of using neoprene or mixing it with other fabrics on his designs for cocktail dresses and different tops. Startlingly, each piece exudes an elegant vibe, may it be for evening or day wear, even if the textile is more commonly used for sportswear. He uses the neo cotton blend which is thinner and perfect for day wear. His pieces can be paired with a long skirt, shorts, or pencil skirt depending on the occasion. However, he says that the fabric might not be flattering for everyone. "I tried boxy type for larger sixes and it's definitely not flattering or it takes a certain type of personality to get away with it," says Jun "and I'm sure every designer has their own interpretation of the fabric but neoprene would definitely stay for a long time." read more
