Jumpstart changed my life. It's about more than weight loss - it's about a change in lifestyle. The literature provided was most helpful to me - easy to understand and follow the diet. It also covers the mental and physical aspects of being healthier. I don't have to think too much now about my meal planning anymore and I know like the back of my hand what I can eat and what to avoid. The InBody scans and nutritional coaching really help you to understand your relationships with food and exercise. And the team at the Greenbrae jumpstart is wonderful. Everyone is nice and supportive and knowledgeable. I lost about 50 pounds. I used to wear clothes to hide my body. Now I can wear clothes for fun! It makes getting ready for work everyday a treat instead of a nightmare. read more

I just quit JumpStartMD. Multiple reasons. Up until a few months ago, it took 5-7 days to get meds delivered. The last time took 3 weeks. Iissed a dose and it took days to get responses to my queries and no the first 2 people I communicated with simply did not take me seriously. At my last weight loss appointment, the doctor refused to put me on a maintenance dose even though I was having trouble eating enough. And the BHRT doctor put me on a supplement and increased my thyroid medication so that my DHEA test results were through the roof and could have caused a manic episode if my psychiatrist hadn't caught it. Incompetence and terrible customer service read more

As much as I want to write a positive review, I really can't. Jumpstart used to be great a year ago but it's gone downhill. They are extremely disorganized. There is an App to message the team and request medications but no one responds and the App is broken. And you can't get a refill of medications through the pharmacy. It's through the clinician only. But if they aren't responsive online then it requires having an appointment in their office to request anything which isn't conducive to a busy lifestyle. When I try to call the office there often isn't anyone at the front desk. When there is, they are often apologizing for being late or for not responding. There has been a lot of turn over with clinicians and it feels like there is transition happening. Not sure what the issue is. read more

Wonderful coaches and team! They are highly organized, knowledgeable, and very prompt. I have been seeing them for years, and I appreciate how their business and care has changed over the years to really meet the needs of the community. Don't hesitate signing up. read more

I went to Jumpstart for hormone replacement and weight loss. I started them both a year ago February. I didn't think I would be a candidate for GLP1 but I was. Over the year I lost 30 pounds and was able to get my medical insurance to help me get the hormone treatment through Kaiser. Most everyone there is very knowledgeable. Dr Burke was able to help me change some of my other medications after he reviewed my blood test. When I went I didn't expect my first blood test to find I was vitamin D deficient and magnesium deficient. My A1C was borderline high. And my care there has helped me get all of those things in order. Their office staff is the best. My only complaint is their APP and message center through the app. It needs some improvement. Check them out. Better to work with knowledgeable people than to just order these medicines online! read more

For anyone, male or female, looking to improve their overall health and wellness, I highly recommend Jumpstart MD in Greenbrae CA. While Jumpstart is an excellent organization to help individuals with weight loss goals and increase vitamin supplement intake, their Bioidentical (Hormone Replacement Therapy) programs far exceed basic plans out in the medical industry. As a woman navigating peri-menopause, as I am 55, I was extremely frustrated with the lack of support I received from Kaiser (who only wanted to prescribe me birth control pills and anxiety medicine to address symptoms). However, once I joined Jumpstart and went out of network, Fran the NPR ran extensive blood panels to look at my hormone levels to augment what my body needed. Between increase weight work, increased protein, and BHRT I am back feeling 35 again. So much so, that I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro last year and made it to the top! Don't let Kaiser or any other HMO rob you of your optimum health! Jumpstart will change your life. read more

JumpstartMD - Weight Loss Centers Near Me - Greenbrae, California

I've been going to the Greenbrae, CA location for over 2 years. I've found the people there to be caring, helpful, and responsive. Carole, the nurse, has been especially instrumental in helping me navigate the medical issues and concerns I've dealt with re taking weight loss meds and in explaining to me exactly what I needed to do each week to become healthier. I could not have made the progress I've made without her expertise and kindness. I'm so pleased with where I am healthwise now: A1C reduced, blood markers normal, daily routine of walking and going to the gym, eating healthfully, and finally peace of mind around eating and weight. I'm very grateful to Carole and the rest of the Jumpstart staff for their guidance and help. read more

I get call backs quickly if I have a question and have had a good experience with my wt loss

It did not work for me. After a few months I only lost 2 pounds. Now I go to BrightBody in El Cerrito. Low prices Real Doctors and it works

I lost over 30 with this program, but I believe the benefit was due primarily to the medications, which are available at much lower cost elsewhere. Lots of pressure to buy overpriced and debatable supplements and injections at exorbitant cost. Some of the clinicians much more knowledgeable than others. Lots of staff turnover and short staffing issues. read more

I use Jumpstart for their Hormone replacement Program and It's been a really good experience for me. Their program is very professional and thorough. I get my blood work done and see them once they've received the results. They go over everything with me each time and adjust whatever may need adjusting. They are so easy to talk to and I feel very heard and seen by them and my results show that I'm in balance and I feel great! Another plus is the "In body machine" that tests the whole body's levels of fat to muscle ratio. It's incredible because it allows me to know where I am with my fitness results and what I need to work on. Every part of this program has been great for me. Randi T. read more

Fraud., they get you sucked in and paying up front and then they tell you what the program will really be like. Dishonest bunch of people!

I have seen behind the SCREEN. the entire thing is a FRAUD. there is no MD behind the jumpstart MD, it's basically poorly run pretenders who are highly paid for their BS. Do Keto on your own. Spare yourself the expense. Management is so embarrassed and shameful they won't even call you back when they charge you for months of services no rendered. They owe me for months of charges they illegally charged me and are continuing to charge me when i've been very clear that i did not want any services from them unless I worked with Kate who was out on leave. Management has some serious customer service skills to learn. I taught customer service for my entire career and my specialty was cross cultural communication skills for race, gender, and LGBT communities of difference and inclusion and this place has major flaws in basic customer service. Not to mention major HIPPA violations. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE AVOID at all COSTs!!! read more

My son went to this program for a month. It did not help- he needs more guidance- 5 min appointments are way to short - he stopped going . We just realised that we we charged $388 since February ,. Four months ago if you had told me that today I would be 40 pounds lighter I would've thought you were crazy. I had told myself for years that I needed to go on a diet but truly didn't think I could be successful. Then a friend told me about how his wife lost 40 pounds using jumpstart M.D. and I decided to go talk to them. That was one of the best decisions I've made. Today 3 1/2 months later I am 40 pounds plus lighter and feel better than I have in years. Last week I had my annual physical exam and my lab work came back better than it has been over 10 years. Wonderful MDs and coaches!! However, they fall behind on insurance filing, so I suggest you do it yourself.

Renee Richardson here, former spokeswoman for JumpstartMD! I still visit the Bon Air/ Greenbrae location once a month for maintenance. The staff is great, they've helped me take off the weight as well as navigate the many changes in life that can cause weight gain. I've worked with the Jumpstart team for more than 7 years and their knowledge, tips, and recipe offering have helped me stay on track and not get bored! Jumpstart has changed my life! I started in Dec/Jan of this year (2019) I lost 12 pounds which is great , but what is better I lost 6 inches in my waist, and 9% BODY FAT. My visceral fat ( fat around your organs ) was 11 and now its 6!! I am 50 so losing weight was at a standstill. Once I met with Kate I knew that this was the best decision of my life. Kate is medical genius ,she motivated me and taught me things I didn't know about my own body. Kate insisted I test my Hormone levels. My thyroid was non existent and my testosterone was gone. I then met Fran, She is Bioidentical Hormone expert. I have been on Armour, Estrogen, Progesterone and my beloved testosterone now for 7 months and I feel exactly how I did at 40. My muscle mass has increased, my energy incredible.I am doing Orange Theory classes 5 days a week and my husband loves all the extra attention to our love life. These women are the real deal, medical professionals with genuine interest in developing a program that gives you a better life. Diet is Keto and non negotiable yes you count carbs - I just made sure my carbs went to wine and I rarely missed a glass and still had amazing results. I am taking all their supplements as well ( Multi,Mag,VITD,DHEA,Probiotic etc) . I love BeBe, she greets you at the door and remembers everything you need, appointments ,blood tests. Kate is like my new GP, she is better and way more knowledgable. Fran and Carol well they are my life savers...They have turned on a light that was dim for too long. If you want to lose weight in a medical way, not like the other nonsense out there, test your hormone levels and receive hormone replacement there is no other place like this in Marin. They are the best! read more

Greenbrae MD gone downhill since former Director left. Today I got a new trainee clinician. I was escorted into the office by the experienced person, introduced to the new person sitting behind the desk. COVID makes meeting new people weird, but she could have stood up and acted interested. She barely looked up from her computer, asked rote scripted questions and giggled at my answers. The experienced person sat in the corner looking at her computer screen. So weird - no eye contact and completely impersonal. Although I have been with the program for almost two years, the new person did not glance at my records or recent history. Was like starting from scratch. Miss the folks who take a genuine interest and are more qualified to coach the program. read more

I love this program. The entire team at the Greenbrae location are amazing. I look forward to seeing Bebe and her giant smile every Friday. The entire team of clinicians and coaches feel like friends now! Kate, Emily, Jamie, and Caitlin are so sweet and knowledgable. I've really enjoyed getting to know all of them. They have really helped me understand that I'm making a lifestyle change. This is not a diet - which is exactly what I was looking for. The best part is the weight loss has been slow and steady. In 4 months I lost over 25 lbs and at least 7 inches from my waist. I feel younger, more energetic and happier than I have in a long time. I'm also confident that I can keep it off. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to lose weight. The team in Greenbrae are top notch! read more

Five star clinician 3 star program. I have gone a few times and you will find my clinician Alfredo outstanding but the program needs some tweaks. I have some medical conditions that should be addressed and a modification to the program done for my individual situation . The program did nothing for me , however Alfredo on his own time researched and came up with a plan that worked wonderfully This program does work , is expensive and you would think it could be modified for any medical or other situation. I probably will go back, but only to Alfredo, the rest of the clinicians did not remember me or seem genuine, they seem to be going through the motion. Please contact me it you want more information and if you choose to go, request Alfredo for a winning experience. read more

Losing weight was easy with the help of the team at JumpstartMD. Really? Really! I wanted to lose 20 pounds to get off my C-Pap machine. In a little over 3 months the weight...and the machine were gone! Sure, I had to change my eating habits. But I can honestly say I was never hungry. And my counselors told me that If I was ever hungry I probably was doing something wrong. I continued my normal moderate exercise routine but nothing else. I'm a raving fan of this program. Follow their advice and you Will lose weight! read more

They're expensive. Horrible customer service. Not worth the price for what they do. They just see you for 15 min (if that) and you do a check in for that and every month do a body scan. Might as well be virtual. For what they do, they should be more online and cut their prices. I lost 10lbs but I do think it's more because I used the sheets they gave me. Motivation comes from you. read more

I recently joined JumpstartMD for the second time. The first occasion was in SF, but I could not complete the program because of spinal surgery. Fast forward a few years and too many pounds and I joined the Greenbrae clinic. Everyone was fantastic and corporate was extremely helpful and expeditious with solving a couple of issues. I successfully lost 20 pounds and have kept it off!! However the last few days I have slipped into some old habits. Thankfully I saved all my materials from Jumpstart and all I had to do was refresh my memory, get out my Daily Tracker and 'get back on the horse'. I am an RN/NP. I evaluated many programs. Jumpstart is by far the best. It is based on science, the eating plan is easy to follow and not too restrictive. I remember one meeting with my counselor, can't remember if it was Fran or Kate, they are both superb, I was going out to a high end restaurant and I wasn't sure what I would do about dessert. (My favorite part of the meal) Fran or Kate reached into their file and gave me a paper with excellent information about eating in restaurants. Then she smiled and said, " If you do have dessert really enjoy it". What great advice. I highly and strongly recommend JumpstartMD to anyone who is committed to weight loss and new habits. When a friend of mine saw me for the first time, after my weight loss, she called JumpstartMD the very next morning and now she has lost over 20 pounds!! Great program. Good luck to anyone who gets onboard. read more

If you like watching the Bachelor, you'll love JumpstartMD. The people you meet with have about ten stock phrases they repeat each week. There is no MD at the "clinic" in Millbrae. The whole thing has a kind of mindless Stepford Wives vibe. read more

Full disclosure I am a clinician who also used to work at JumpStart. When I worked there I decided to try out the program because I was trying to get the last 5 pounds of baby weight off of me. The program really works. Not only that but it teaches you how to eat and how to make healthy choices that I still use to this day more than two years later. read more

I've been going to jumpstart now for 2 years for the hormone shots and I definitely feel much better. I highly recommend them. The only problem I have with this office is that it's almost impossible to get a hold of anyone in the office. When you leave a message for one of the doctors it could take weeks until they get back to you and when they miss you and leave a message about results or anything else it's always conflicting or confusing, then I have to call back and wait around for another week or so to finally connect with the Doctor. It could be very frustrating, especially when your trying to get answers regarding your health. I just wish they'd be more on top of it! read more

JumpstartMD is a game changer!!! I joined JumpstartMD due to experiencing low energy (too tired to play with my kids), mental fog, general fatigue, hormonal changes, and grumpy moods; daily living felt effortful -- I was alive, but not fully living. The JumpstartMD team was, and continues to be, exceptional in helping me rediscover my inner strength with one-on-one health coaching, personalized dietary education, BHRT, and lifestyle management.   There are not enough good things that I can say about the entire Marin staff (Carol, Kate, Emily, Jamie, BeBe, Caitlin, Fran, and Manny --  big hugs and deep gratitude to all of you for your steady support!!!) I have learned to love the process of committing to a healthier and more disciplined lifestyle. Weight loss is secondary to the sense of accomplishment that is felt as a result of nourishing my body, mind, and spirit by working hard and seeing the results. Simply said, I feel better and it feels great! Thank you, JumpstartMD, for teaching me that health and fitness is not about arriving at a particular destination (a number on the scale), but it is about the journey toward a balanced, healthy life. So glad to be on this journey together! read more

If you are ready to change your mind, body and spirit, JumpstartMD is the perfect place to start your transformation. I joined JumpstartMD one year ago with the goal of loosing the weight that had "crept" up on me over the years. I not only lost the weight I wanted to loose, I have kept it off by simply changing my eating habits. I was a self prescribed "sugar-a-holic" and knew I needed help to break my insidious habit. From the very first day I felt empowered and knew I would be able to achieve my weight loss goal. The entire staff at the Greenbrae office are extremely knowledgeable, supportive and compassionate. This program is tailored to your individual needs, not a one size fits all program. No group meetings here! The best part of this program for me is the bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. I can not say enough good things about this type of hormone replacement. Each woman has to choose what she feels is best for her, this is my choice and I am so thankful for all the personal attention and guidance given to me each and every time I go for my check ups. I have a renewed enthusiasm for life, more energy, mental clarity and an increased libido which is one of the best "perks" of the program. I tell anyone who will stand still long enough to listen about this program, it is transformative. Some insurance companies will cover the expense of the visits, unfortunately mine did not. That being said, I would pay twice as much for this excellent care if I had to, it is an investment in my health and my peace of mind, which is invaluable. read more

In four months of the JumpStartMD program, I lost 20 pounds, lowered my sugar from pre-diabetic to normal, increased my HDL and dramatically lowered my Triglycerides. Not only that but my energy and alacrity have improved. I bought and read "The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living" which explained the science and benefits of this new lifestyle. It works and, by the way, I have never felt hungry. The Greenbrae staff are cheerful, helpful, knowledgeable and motivating. Thanks to them for making me healthier and my clothes fit better. read more

So I started Jumpstart MD just before Labor Day 2012 after my mom had great success with the program. They offered me Phentirmine, and I declined (the whole Fen-Phen drama of the late '90s scared me enough to not want to try the safer half of Fen-Phen). It seemed to go well at first, I really liked that I got to meet Dr. Burke (one of the founding doctors of Jumpstart MD), and I got to do an "In-Body Scan" that analyzed my fat and muscle proportions. The idea was simple enough: limit your carb intake to 20g or less per day and you'll force your body into ketosis, which then starts burning your fat for energy. But as Thanksgiving and Christmas came closer, it was really hard for me to stay on track -- how was I supposed to forgo the mashed potatoes and stuffing? Nonetheless, I kept meeting with the advisors, only one of which is a NP (the rest do not seem to have any RD or nutritionist credentials, they are merely unlicensed medical assistants if that). Every time I'd meet with a different advisor, they would tell me something different. One would tell me not to eat the protein bars because it's not real food, the other would say it's fine. I was really struggling to keep on track, I mean, if I could do it on my own, I wouldn't be overweight, but the program seemed to work so well for my mom that I just kept going back every week, letting them take my money. But I really didn't get the support and encouragement that I needed from a restrictive diet (if you're a so-called carb addict, then it's pretty challenging to cut it all out cold turkey). Honestly, I got more ideas talking to my co-worker in 1 hour about low-carb diets than I did from my 6 months at Jumpstart. The big kicker was when I went in today for my weekly meeting and weigh-in. Dr. Burke was in the office today (lucky me, right?!), and instead of meeting with the NP or the other advisors, I got to meet with him. FIrst off, he didn't remember meeting me 6 months ago (which is fine, but instead of saying "nice to meet you" maybe he should've said "have we met?"), but when I started saying how I was having trouble finding motivation and staying on-track, he kind of condescendingly said, "how so? what's so hard about sticking to the foods in this book?". I mentioned how I was on a tight budget, how it's hard to get the items the program recommends all the time, and he starting going into a spiel about how the government subsidizes cereal grains and how America's becoming diabetic because of it. I DON'T REALLY CARE! After being (what I felt) attacked by him, I started to cry, and he was so unsympathetic to that. All he said was "all I can say is, I feel bad for you." Nice way to support your clients, doc! At that point, I was pretty much not listening to what he was saying, and he kept mentioning how carbs are super addicting and how I should just eat all the meat in the world, and asked me a couple times "how can I help you?". I replied back, "that's why I'm here, I don't know how you can help me." His reply was something about learned helplessness, and how I have to learn to help myself (is this really why I'm paying for this program every week, to hear that I need to help myself?), at which point, I packed up my purse and left. Maybe I'm a problem client because I can't stick to this program. But if someone is paying you to help them lose weight, wouldn't you at least give them pointers on how to stay on track? All in all, I feel that the people with the most success on this program are the ones who elect to take the Phentirmine. So, if you are into weight-loss programs utilizing stimulant appetite suppressants and little guidance, then this is the right program for you. read more

I want to start off by saying that the woman I worked with on the phone was very understanding, knowledgeable and polite. She answered all my questions with ease and understanding, that's why I am giving it 2 starts and not 1. She was very helpful, so much that I scheduled appointments for both my husband and I to start the program just a week later. Fast forward to the day of my appointment, I made arrangements to leave work early. The appointment was at 5:45 so this required me to leave the city about 4:40 to ensure I would make it in time. Traffic was bad that day according to Google Maps, so I called and let them know that I would likely be 15 min late. I showed up 15 min late as I had communicated and they would not see me. I was shocked. What a complete waste of my time. They wouldn't even do a partial visit to get things started, nothing and I got the condescending "have a nice day", ugh. I immediately left and called the nice woman I spoke with when I signed up. She empathized with me, offered me a discount, apologized on the Greenbrae locations behalf. She told me that she was surprised and disappointed by their actions at the clinic. I have not rescheduled since my first impression of this program has been tainted. If they treated me this way before I even paid a dime - then what does this say about the service I would receive once I was a member. It's honestly shocking that in an industry where they are so many similar medical programs, you wouldn't want to stand out for great customer service - not for piss poor customer service. So disappointed. BTW - this is my first Yelp review. I hate that is is a bad one, but I hope that Jumpstart MD would reconsider doing this to the next person. read more

On February 28th I was so uncomfortable in my clothes that I decided it was time to buy a new pair of pants. It was time to go up another size, yet again! I headed to the store tried on 2 pair of pants, walked back out to my car and called JumpStartMD. I made an appointment for the next morning and decided I couldn't continue taking care of my comfort by growing my clothing size. I needed to take care of my comfort by shrinking my waist. Everyone was so attentive and kind. I walked into the office on the Morning of March 1st and started my healthy eating habits on March 2nd. I have gone from 170 pounds to 145 pounds, lost inches in waist and hips, have increased energy, better digestion and lower blood pressure. ALL OF THIS IN JUST 3 MONTHS!!!!! I opted for NO meds so it has been a completely natural process--that being said I have been incredibly committed. Noone can do this but me and there is no going back this time. I am looking more forward to the 6 month maintenance part of this plan than the actual weight loss. I have sent uncountable people to this plan and, although it cost my disposable income (+) to make this happen it has been the BEST money ever spent. It will last for the rest of my iife!!! In fact, the financial has been a good motivator to make my loss happen as quickly as possible! :) I can not say enough about this AMAZING plan--make sure your support system is in place with friends and family, this can benefit you on a daily basis. You may need someone to take that beer out of your hand instead of handing it to you, especially on a hot summer day. To the other reviewer. Don't give up, maybe this plan wasn't for you. First of all I would like to say that Jumpstart allowed me to finally lose the 20 pounds or so needed to be healthy. The program is basically a modified Adkins with vitamins and supplements to help lose weight. I have been doing maintenance on the program for over a year and have managed to stay close to my goal weight. The clinic has some great coaches, but Alfredo is by far the best one I have worked with. He was able to tailor the program to my needs as I do travel for work quite a bit. He has given me tips on recipes for the program and also work out ideas for being healthy. He is always happy to see me and is willing to spend time explaining how to make the program work best for me and my schedule. He is up on all the latest health and fitness information which he is happy to share. I have to say that having Alfredo working with me has been a key to my continued success with the program! read more
