I love getting oxygen facials and a variety of others that I just discovered last spring when I signed up for a subscription plan at the spa close to home in New York. Upon moving back to NOLA, I searched Yelp for a med spa with a subscription plan and immediately made my appointment. A subscription plan is nice because going monthly is key to keeping your skin in tip top shape. Admittedly I haven't done much more than use good products throughout my adulthood but now I'm a believer! I also get the occasional laser Genesis treatments (evens skin tone, erases fine lines et), which Hickham has here as well. It's the least invasive laser (honestly, I always think lasers hurt) and leaves you positively glowing. My appointment was with Dawn and she was great! We did dermaplaning and the laser Genesis and I left loving my positively dewy skin. No downtime with Laser Genesis either. Hickham offers two kinds of subscription services, one for facials and one for laser treatments and microneedling (which is a little scary for me but I may check it out eventually). Both plans get you discounts on other products and services at the spa. I also visited with Dr. Hickham for that oh-so-crucial full body scan, which was quick and easy. Dr. Terezakis prides herself on great skin. She routinely seeks out new information and she is the poster child of great skin at any age. If you see her you would know what I am talking about. It looks like she has been in a hyperbaric chamber. She has no wrinkles and her face is skin is awesome! It's pretty amazing. Many recommended products are sold at Celeste Labs. Celeste Labs is onsite. You can purchase products which are offered elsewhere but they prices are the same. They offer everything from Green Cream to Tinted Sunscreen. They also ship nationwide. I'm consistently blown away by each and every interaction I have with her--not only is she a highly credentialed physician, but she is also a deeply conscientious and kind person. She's approached my acne treatment holistically and has turned me on to alternative health practices--from dietary changes to stress-release and relaxation techniques--and these, in addition to the Spirinolactone (a potassium-sparing diuretic or water pill) she's prescribed me, have been successful in clearing up my skin. Every over-the-counter product made things worse, and previous dermatologists either shrugged it off or gave me treatments that didn't help at all. Dr. Koppel took the time to really listen, ask the right questions, and then explained--clearly and confidently--that I was dealing with rosacea, not acne. I was floored. No one had ever suggested that before. He walked me through the science of it (in a way I could actually understand), laid out a game plan, and even managed to make me laugh along the way. His sense of humor is subtle and sharp--just enough to make the whole experience feel lighter without ever taking away from how seriously he takes his work. I was recently told by a friend that her dermatologist saw her via Zoom call and sold her a face cream that cost $100 which was not that great either... When I asked Dr. Clairborne for a moisturizer recommendation for my sensitive and highly inflamed skin at that time, all he sold me was a... plain jane VANICREAM that costs like $10 for a huge bottle. He said he recommends vanicream as he thinks this does a great job of moisturizing. He prescribed me two things which was a oral antibiotics and a cleanser but re-wrote a prescription for the cleanser next day just to keep my out of pocket cost low. I asked so many questions to his staff for a few days after my visit but they answered my email in a timely manner. In a nutshell, I liked this doctor because 1. he did fix my issue and 2. he tried to lower the cost from my end. I mean do you really need more than that from a dermatologist?
