Scam. Ordered a tour through Viator. Tried to text the tour operator via text: invalid number. Called and was told the exact pickup point and time. Waited there for one hour, never saw a tour van. Tried to contact again through Viator, no response. Tour operator never called, emailed, nor texted - just a ghost. Viator would not refund, of course. Avoid this company. read more

Worst tour EVER. Booked the "Full day sightseeing tour to Gibraltar from Malaga" through GetYourGuide. Julia Travel was their local partner. Took a cab from our centrally located hotel to the outskirts of Malaga to catch our bus to Gibraltar (137 km) at 7AM. Arrived in Gibraltar at 10:45 after stopping to pick up passengers at every hotel in every town on the way. We were told to meet back at our bus at 12:20 for our tour. We were told to enjoy duty free shopping until then.....(there is better duty free shopping at any international airport than in Gibraltar) we did not want perfume or liquor so we waited for our tour and ate a yummy ham sandwich. The tour had 3 stops. A lower level look out, a cave, and the top of the rock. We never reached the top of the rock because busmates spent too long in the cave. We returned to the base at 1:15 & were told to meet back at our bus at 3. We spent more time dropping people off in Torremolinos than touring Gibraltar and arrived back at Malaga at 6:45 - an exhausting 3:45 minutes after leaving Gibralter. To add insult to injury our bus driver swore at me in Spanish when we asked if we could be dropped at our hotel rather than 10 minutes away. 12 hour day - 7 hours on a bus for a 137 km trip; 4 hours duty free shopping. 1 hour tour, never reaching the top of the rock. We purchased the trip to Frigliana and Nerja. It seemed like a decent group at first, but everything went downhill once the guide started talking. The guide spoke four languages. He was incomprehensible in all but spanish. Also, he practically whispered through the mic the entire time, so we could barely hear him. On top of that, he was very rude and overbearing. In the beginning, he only snatched our tickets. No please, thank you, or introduction to himself. On top of that, when we asked the old, white haired tour guide what time to be back at the bus when we stopped in Frigliana, he told us "half past twelve" he would leave. Obviously, he can't tell time. We came to the bus at 12:20, and he went ballistic, saying that he told us to be back at a quarter past twelve, even though the entire family distinctly remembers him saying that we had to be back at half past twelve. He made us take the walk of shame, where people jeered, insulted, and gave us dirty looks- all for an extra five minutes of waiting! Oh well. Terrible service. Do not take this company. Left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

We used Julia Travel as part of our vacation and although it was easy to get around and great having a tour guide, the tour guide should learn English first. Olga was very nice but didn't know much English and whatever she did know she didn't pronounce correctly so every English speaking person was completely confused and frustrated. She did lots of talking in Spanish and only a little bit in English but it was impossible to follow. Great rates and easy plan to follow but a tour guide that speaks he tourists language is a must and a plus. Francisco the driver, on the other hand, was sexy and so very friendly!! Would have to make sure I don't get Olga next time I use Julia travel but I would use them again. read more

On Saturday August 8th, we did the Julia day trip to Tanger from Malaga. I had read good things about this trip, and my aunt and uncle had gone on it five weeks earlier and had enjoyed it. They both raved about their guide. However, for this tour, our guide on the Spanish side was Janette. I am very sorry to say that her lack of organization and minimal communication with the group added an unnecessary two and a half hours to an already very long and exhausting trip. Luckily for me, my aunt was also with me on this trip and was fairly familiar with the procedures. If this had not been the case, I would have felt extremely distressed over the lack of clear instructions and her repeated disappearing act. Finally, after an incredibly long day, the entire way home, Janette carried on a loud personal conversation with our driver. A number of passengers had to put on headphones to try to drown out her voice. It just seemed very unprofessional. One would think there would be local sights and stories to point out; after all, this is a tour. Most importantly, she almost left a passenger behind in Morocco. She had not done a proper headcount to make sure we were all back on the bus, so when we said the girl was missing, Janette had the driver pull over. She expected the girl to cross a very busy highway to meet us - so dangerous! On the Moroccan side, our guide Hassan was great. He managed to keep our group together and moving through the very tight and congested market place. He also gave detailed commentary on all the sights we passed while we were in the bus, and he welcomed any questions we had. Our lunch at the restaurant selected as part of this package was mediocre. No drinks are included, so they make their money selling mini bottles of beer 2.5€ or glasses of wine at 9€. If you want water, it is 2€. The bread was pretty stale, the chickpea soup was decent as was the kebab appetizer. The main of chicken and vegetable and couscous was pretty bland. Overall, the meal was super rushed, and we had zero time to digest before we were herded out. The visit to the Cave of Hercules was a highlight on this trip. I also enjoyed seeing the various quarter of the city as we drove around. I could really have done without the snake charmer visit. The camel stop was okay, but I would have actually preferred to have time in the market to visit some of the stalls. The tour of the big building with the rugs, ceramics, and leather products was nice to see, but we spent too much time there. The visit to the spice market seemed misnamed as there were only two spices on sale, saffron and cumin. It was primarily cosmetic and health products on sale. Be aware that roaming street vendors are very very intense and will hound you the entire time you are off the bus or in the streets. All in all, for the limited amount of time you actually get to stay in Tanger, this trip is extremely long. So much of our time was take picking up passengers at various hotels in Spain and then dropping them off when heading back. Since we were in Malaga, we were the first stop at 5:30 am and we were not returned until 11:45 pm. There are no arrangements made for any washroom stops either on that 3 1/2 hour return bus ride which I think is unreasonable. Also, it takes a long time to go through security coming and going. This I understand as you are entering a new country, but still it is something to consider. read more

I could give this 1 star or 4 stars depending on what you are expecting. We left from Malaga around 5:30 and returned around 8:00PM, so it is a long day. There was an hour wait for the ferry and another hour wait coming back. I understand the issues with immigration, but it seemed like wasted time. Our guide, Frank, was average at best. When most people were trying to sleep at 6:30AM (still dark out), he was talking on the loudspeaker with some history of the area. Interesting, but not good timing. The ferry ride across was enjoyable. Hassan, the guide in Tangier, was good. However, be prepared for a rushed visit. If you want to check boxes - lunch, walk through marketplace, rug store, spices, and a camel ride, this will do it. However, the lunch was just ok. The rug store is a hard-core sales pitch to buy a rug. The spice store was interesting, but they were selling also. It felt like we were just being moved to one sales pitch to the next. What was advertised as a camel ride on the beach was a camel ride in a parking lot with guys asking for more money. They will try to sell something about every second you are off the boat. We enjoyed the overall experience of visiting, but would opt for a private tour guide next time. read more

If I could give this agency a zero star rating, I would. I booked a day trip to Ronda, through another tour group. Instead a Julia tour bus pulls up to the hotel pick up spot. I asked the guide if this was the correct bus, and he brusquely replied just sit down. Didn't inspire a lot of confidence. But I knew I was in Spain. And things are always subject to change. From my hotel pick up in torremolinos to the turn off to go to Ronda was over two hours of just picking people up from other hotels. I understand it's common for tours to pick up all down costa Del Sol. But two hours on a bus picking up other people, and we were not the first riders on, is a bit much. Our tour guide was Paco who was incredibly brusque and frequently shouted at people on the bus. His English was incredibly difficult to understand and his enunciation was horrid. He walked very fast in front of the group talking over his shoulder. Several in the group were mobility challenged and could not keep up the pace. It was impossible to hear (much less understand) the history of the tour he was giving us. I went on several other tours with a different agency on this trip and did not have this type of poor experience with them. read more
