Pros- Great atmosphere with the fire and crowd. Really good vibes from the staff…read more Cons- Food is awful. AWFUL. I ordered a wedge salad with steak. How can you mess up a wedge salad?!?! They did. The steak was more like a chewy gyro meat (but I like gyro meat. this was disgusting). The salad was underdressed (yes, I could have asked for more ranch) and the bacon was not edible... and I had to put force into every bite because it was also so chewy. It was so strange! The tomatoes were good. My huband got the filet .. he said it as cooked well. but the compliments ended there. My girls both got chicken fingers. Disgusting. Even the fries were gross. This was our first night in TVS. I was scared out of my mind this was how the food was everywhere. Nope. Just The Blake. And it's the talk of the town. Stay away until they figure it out. Dont waste your money.

The place is nestled right in the middle of ski valley Taos! It's right by the main area. It's…read morebeautiful inside with a wood burning fire, comfortable seating to get out from the cold and the service was spot on. They were very attentive and kind. While I can appreciate the craft that went into the cook, I was a bit disappointed in the execution. What we ordered: Eggs Benedict: it was absolutely beautiful when it came out, but upon breaking open the poached egg, it was about 10-15 seconds under done. I had runny whites, which shouldn't happen. Also, the hollandaise sauce did not have that lemon flavor (you need a bit more punch). Finally, the sauce to me was broken as I could see and taste the eggs curdled. While I loved the fresh spinach and tomatoes as it gave it a good acidic taste, I was just a bit disappointed in the execution. The potatoes were good. They were fried to perfection but it needed a bit more zest or seasoning. Breakfast Buffet: typical buffet of sausage, eggs, bacon, pastries etc. nothing exciting or anything to be negative about. The one good thing to note is that there was a pastry that had some sort of apricot or peach jam in the middle which was lovely! Out of the places we ate in the Ski Valley, I would come back here to eat lunch or dinner.

Don't get me wrong, we love Mexican food, but nothing can beat our TexMex! Beware they are open 7 days a week for the holidays until 5 Jan. They open at 4:30. When you come in, it's beautifully decorated for Christmas! They have a fire burning where you can wait and not definitely had a rustic feel to it! They sat us next to the fire which was really nice for it being cold outside. Our server was very attentive, nice and knowledgeable. The menus were pretty spiffy too as it looked like an old newspaper clipping! They had a variety of steak and also had different animal options like elk & bison. The prices were a bit steep but given the quality and how well they executed the meal, I would say it was well worth it! You are offered a pretzel like bread with butter while ordering. Our waiter was on it and he continued to fill our drinks before we could even ask for more! What we ordered: - Bison ribeye (medium+): this was a gem! If you've never had bison before, don't get scared! It tastes just like cow only it's better for you! The cook was perfection and the seasoning on point! My 13 year old ordered it and devoured it! He had initially asked for A1 sauce but because it was flavored so well, opted not to use it. He said it was one of the best steaks he has ever had! - Ground Elks (medium) w/ chile and grilled onions: it comes dry but our waiter suggested adding green chile and onions to it (beware that's an $11 up charge). It was flavored well, cooked well and tasted amazing. My husband never had elk and said it was really good. Tasted just like ground beef with just a hint of something different. - 12 oz New York sirloin (medium): cooked to perfection, seasoned perfectly and topped it with a garlic/butter compound. My daughter, who rarely eats anything more than a 3oz, ate more than half because she liked it that much. - 10oz ribeye (medium): cooked and flavored to perfection again!! On top of that, it was so tender and melted like butter in my mouth! It was so smooth, and just an amazing quality I hadn't had in such a long time. While ribeye comes fatty, this was utter perfection! I typically only eat about 4-5 oz, but ate the entire thing! If we decide to come back to this area, we will definitely stop here! If you want a good steak, go here!!!
