Was craving some fresh squeezed healthy juice bomb and found a few places on Google Maps, but they were all closed due to the Labor Day Holiday in Mexico. Luckily my Uber driver knew of this place and dropped us off.
And boy, do I feel stupid for paying 10$ for juice at Whole Foods back home???
This family owned business has a huge variety of fresh fruit and vegetables and also other healthy ingredients such as fresh yogurt, bee polen, oats, flaxseed, granola, cottage cheese and the list goes on.
The family working here is extremely friendly and kind and you can tell they take a lot of pride in their work (even the younger kids help, which is very cute to see them learning good values from their parents). The dad cuts the fruit in front of you and makes the juice and he's extremely skilled with the knife. (yes, he peels and cuts the fruit to order. it doesn't get any fresher than this).
We got the Verde Juice (Nopal, Celery, Parsley, Spinach, Broccoli, Pineapple, Orange and Grapefruit) which was extremely fresh and delicious and also the Vuelve a la Vida, Spanish for "Coming Back to Life" (Plantains, papaya, pear, apple, melon, mango, prune, pineapple, apricot, orange, carrot and beet) - an incredible and tasty mix.
To finish it off, we shared a Yofruit, which is basically a fruit salad mixed with granola and yogurt. Everything fresh and natural and each juice varies from 20-40 pesos (1-2 dollars) depending if you get the small, medium or large. SO CHEAP!!!
Next time I'm in Ensenada, i'll definitely pay these guys a visit and savor some yummy juice and their welcoming smiles. They are a few blocks off the touristic zone, in a very safe and calm area, so totally worth a short Uber ride if you're in a thirst quenching mood and down to support a family owned business.
Oh, and by the way, F you, Whole Foods! read more
