We went to the North Shore Art League for the first time to attend the opening reception of their…read morenew exhibit -- "Summer Open".  The art league is located on the second floor of the Winnetka Community House.  "Since 1924, the North Shore Art League has remained dedicated to its stated mission of "enriching the human spirit through art education and exhibitions".  We found that the art gallery space of the North Shore Art League was very airy and pleasant.  The exhibition was professionally and well laid out. The staff in the opening reception room was friendly and welcoming.  There was a beautiful charcuterie board, wine and sparkling mineral water for guests to enjoy. The "Summer Open" runs from May 13 to July 20.  Part of the displayed art work were for sale.  There is a great variety of beautiful 2D art to choose from.  A portion of all sales supports the North Shore Art League, a not-for-profit, 501©(3)  organization.

The space was really really nice. He made it very comfortable for students, great lighting, great ergonomic stools, the right table height with extra storage underneath. There are personal cubbies to store your work and tools. Coffee, tea, soda, water, candy...it's all first class. A very motivational space to create in. From the second I walked in, I was engulfed by a most delightful smell, perhaps a candle burning somewhere? I was greeted by the owner's assistant, Kate, who gave me an overview of the shop and some of the classes they offer in the back, like coptic bookbinding, collage, crafting, and self-motivation classes. They also have a meet up group called The Grown*Up Girls Club where you can meet up with other like-minded individuals and explore new art/craft/maker techniques. The Club meets the second Sunday of every month. The Collage Cafe is a newer business located in an adorable corridor mixed with other art-inspired shops. You can go door to door and visit each one while you're at it! Can't wait to stop back in. But, as I'm writing this, when I go back I realize the selection is too overwhelming for my taste (in a good way of course) because I want one of everything.

I signed up for one design but they are very flexible on what designs you do when you are there, you just have to use the board you signed up for. They also have lazy Susan classes. I saw that they previously did a Chicago bears logo class so I asked to do that and they printed me the picture to trace. The class was 3 hours and it took us the whole time. You have to be patient when wood burning. I really liked my final art! We were provided with instructions on how to take care of it and washing instructions so we can use it with food. I like that it is BYOB! The owner, Krystina, led our class. She was so friendly, patient, and provided great instructions. I'm addicted to wood burning! I will definitely be back!
