How had I not been here before?…read more The space is great and their selection is killer. I mean, I didn't even know Alice Bouvot / Domain de L'Octavin made magnums, but they do, and they're abundant at Nicos. I saw all the heavy hitters of natural wine and some I hadn't heard of. Frank Cornelissen. Radikon, Gabrio Bini... And they buy A LOT of wine from those producers so the selection is mesmerizing in the best way possible. The woman behind the counter was beautiful, funny and charming, and they burn incense there too, which adds to the already perfect vibes. I haven't even made it to the bar downstairs, but I will. Surely. Nico's, you have something special going on. You'll love them.

Anyways most of the staff was sweet, the place is clean with low fi aesthetics. The bottle I received was definitely pungent. I mean if you are not fully accustomed to red wines this will definitely rock your socks off. The bottle was beautifully decorated from the outside with curated mahogany colors which was definitely the alluring point, hehe. Only thing is I wish my tolerance was higher so I could fully enjoy it! This bottle could be considered a kicker therefore proceed with caution (unless it's Halloween time) uhhh spooky lmao. Yes. Check this place out!

If you're in Highland Park -- or even just passing through -- do not skip Highland Park Wine. It's…read moreone of those spots that locals kind of want to keep to themselves but end up telling all their friends about anyway. It's tucked into this little complex that honestly just keeps getting better: you've got Hippo for dinner, Triple Beam for casual pizza, Go Get Em Tiger for coffee, and Kitchen Mouse just around the corner. The vibe is relaxed but thoughtful -- kind of like the shop itself. The wine selection here is so good. It's not just the usual suspects -- they've got bottles you probably haven't seen before, but everything feels really well-picked, never pretentious. Prices? Super fair. And on top of that, there's sake, craft beer, spirits, and even some great non-alcoholic options for your dry Jan that actually feel exciting. It's clear someone put a lot of care into building this place. Also, shoutout to the team -- every single staff is warm, helpful, and actually seems stoked to help you find something you'll love. That energy makes such a difference. And yeah -- there's even a parking lot, which in Highland Park? That alone is a win. Before you leave, do not forget to check the fridge. If there's a chilled bottle of Meinklang Mulatschak in there, grab it. Trust me. Take it to a pool day or a park hang -- it's the kind of wine that tastes even better in the sun, and you're gonna be glad you brought it. Cheers!

This was the first location and it's also the largest. The selection is vast and there are some great wines and spirits available for purchase - including some coveted bottles of Fortaleza Tequila. The evening's line up featured French natural wine from Bob Singlar - 4 tastings for $20. Much like the other two stores the staff here are friendly and knowledgeable about the pours. They had a nice turnout including some locals who gather here on a weekly basis. I enjoyed conversing with them and meeting some of their fur babies. Hopefully, I can return for another tasting soon.

I ordered and shipped two difficult to find bottles of Mezcal at a competitive price. These were gifts and I needed delivery before my flight. GL promptly shipped with confirmations and tracking via UPS. Sadly, I found out that the order was lost the day before I depart. Stressed, I called GL, told them the situation and they took care of everything from there. A few things to support their great customer service. They always have a human answering the phone. George helped me. He was apologetic, even though it was on UPS. He found my order info quickly and connected me with Andre. Andre knew my urgency and returned my call quickly with solutions. He offered to replace the order at cost! (A friend picked it up). After UPS confirmed their mistake, Andre refunded me my original order and submitted the UPS claim on my behalf. You let me know if this is not above and beyond.

This Thanksgiving week reminded me why I love Mission Wines, Chris, and the staff-- I was in a hurry and so I bought wine at Bristol Farms. It was a winery I'd bought before, I looked at the online ratings for the wine and seemed solid Got it home and meh. I said to myself -- next time I'm just letting Chris and his team pick my wines that way no mistakes or off years for me. With so many wineries -- no way I can keep up. Missions Wines is like a sommelier shop on that there is something excellent at each price point -- bottles under $20 will be terrific. And gift bottles will be special They are no adding high end spirits -- I bought a special Armenian brandy there for a friend that I could not find anywhere else Trust them to pick your wine unless you're an expert and your friends and family will think you've got the best taste ever!
