Our ancient garage door, (1941) had a cable break. The system had been repaired over the years by various companies and individuals, adding a garage door opener and replacing cables and modifying things as needed. It now was a "frankendoor". When the cable broke I called a reputable and well-known garage door company, who sent a technician out to assess the situation. It was then that the full jury-rigged nature of previous repairs was revealed. The technician did an honest assessment and gave me an estimate of $876 to put the thing back in working order. He counseled me that it would take three to four weeks to get the parts and recommended upgrades that would push the cost into the two thousand dollar range. I thanked him, paid the $60 service charge, and told him I would think about it. Now, I want to be clear here. This was not a scam or an upsell, but an honest assessment by a good technician who was very doctrinaire in his approach to the repair of an old system. He did not lack integrity, but only creativity. I know this because it was after his visit that I contacted JS garage door for a second opinion. The receptionist at JS took down the information and asked for photos so she could pass them on to the technicians. Within an hour Jeremiah had called me back and said he could come by that same afternoon. Long story short: He came, assessed the problem and the door, and with the equipment and parts he had in his truck, repaired and refurbished it and got it working that afternoon. He was able to do this because he approached it as an act of artistry, not simply as a technical repair. For this he charged me $200. I am writing this because I want to praise a good company that is both creative and conscientious. And honest, as well. Please consider JS if you need garage door work. Great service! Called them because my brother used them in 2019 and they looked local, plus I wanted to support the smaller business vs going with a chain. Spoke to Mike on the phone and was able to get something scheduled for 8 AM the next morning, they gave the option to come out right away when available if it was urgent, which I was fine with waiting till next day. The door wasn't going to go anywhere. Mike texted me when he was 20-30 min out from my house. When he showed up he was friendly and easy to talk with. Started assessing the Door right away and gave me a quote and explained what he planned to do and what he could try to save. Left him to do his work, which surprisingly took him less than an hour from start to finish. I had a few things broken that needed replacing/fixing/adjusting (Snapped cable, rollers derailed or fallen off, brakets bent/broken, and rail was bent/not straight). You could tell he knew what he was doing by how efficiently he got everything done. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the Service I received. Would use them again in a heartbeat. read more

We started a project in Dec of 2018 with JS Garage Door, we were told that it would take maybe a couple of weeks to complete. We had to constantly follow up and push to get this project done, and finally, we thought they were done around the end of March, that is right, 4 months later. The doors are damaged on the top, due to an admitted bad installation. The owner stated my guy is not always the best and tried his best to fix it himself. About 2 weeks after we finally had things done, the opener they installed actually fell out of the ceiling! Damaging the door and the track. The screws used to hold the opener up just got attached to the sheetrock. Just when we thought this was all over with. We are so lucky it did not damage the car. We thought at that point it was all done, well, we had the City out for another inspection on the siding and guess what - JS Garage Door did not pull a permit or get an inspection! The safety eyes did not even work for one door! We did end up hiring another garage door company to fix all of this, but such disappointment in this entire thing. It caused me much stress and frustration and I would not recommend using these guys. Buyer Beware. read more

Replaced Garage Door Springs, Cables and Remote Keypad I called JS Garage Door Services, because one of my garage door springs had broken and the keypad on my door remote had stopped working. Mike was amazing! I had him out to fix our old door earlier in the year and he did a great job...very quick, reasonable and friendly! Now, here we are on New Year's Eve and my door, after having been frozen to the ground from the recent blizzard, slipped off the track and was hanging by a wire! Mike was able to fit me in at the last minute and was able to take care of it right away! I am so thankful, particularly as tomorrow is a holiday and I was so worried that I would not be able to get it fixed until after the weekend. I was unable to update my review on Thumbtack so will do it here. My experience started out rocky with this company bad timing on our part with some personal stuff and then Mike and the company went on vacation out of the country and we had to wait until they returned. Once Mike was back on his feet from the long trip I can say that JS Garage door Services was worth the wait to install our new WLED-267 Liftmaster openers. Mike was very meticulous with his work and did an awesome job and installing our openers and also went above and beyond and added new wheels to our door as well as supporting the door a bit since we a dent in it. The door is super super quite and my Wife just loves her new opener. I would recommend this company to anyone who is looking for Quality service, Fair Pricing and a small company who cares about you the customer where the big boxes its all about the numbers.
