The first time I stopped by JRK Kitchen, I had already prepped for dinner at home, so I just picked up a couple of patties as a snack. They were really tasty, so I was quite motivated to go back and try some mains.
Due to some cancelled dinner plans when I was in this area, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try them out.
However, since I had just had a large cup of coffee, I wasn't immediately hungry.
They do deliver, via ubereats and deliveroo. They have comfortable seating space for a couple of tables and the space is bright and well lit.
A couple of spicy sauces are at hand on the table, if you want extra punch.
I however decided to pack a takeaway. The mains come with a choice of rice or rice and peas, 2 pieces of fried plaintain, a portion of coleslaw and a portion of salad. They have good quality boxes, with separate compartments for the salads, so the liquid doesn't leach into the rice.
The food stayed hot in the containers for over an hour. The curried goat was amazing. Super soft meat and very flavourful. The rice and peas was yum. The coleslaw was good, but the regular salad did not have much seasoning on it - which makes it perfect for cooling your tastebuds if you so desire. We happily added hot sauce to the salad.
Portion sizes are large. I'd packed 2 curried goat and 1 pepper beef, which was more than sufficient for 4 large meals. The pepper beef was tasty, but since it was dry, the meat was also a bit tougher than the goat, especially when kept overnight.
They have loads of fresh juices and shakes if you want something when eating in or even as a takeaway.
The staff at the counter are very friendly and can help if you have trouble deciding. read more
