What a delightful accidental find! We opted for the mojito, as we were advised there was some super fresh mint to be had & were pleasantly surprised by the crisp, clean flavors. I went with the daily specials all the way through (smoky pork panini & Mexican street corn soup). Everything was tasty and temps were correct. They offer gluten-free options as well. The hubs is a sucker for key lime pie, so, he ordered - he was disappointed to see it was a frozen pie slice but he still liked it. Loved the seating options - large booths, cozy tables for 2. The gent who helped us out was, I'm guessing, the owner. There was a lot of pride showing in the establishment, food, decor & even the town itself. He was also highly attentive. What a great little hide-a-way. It would be easy to miss this gem so make sure you seek it out. It is in the basement of an old J. C. Penney's building. The proprietor is an energetic, warm and ambitious young man. He is always very engaging and makes you feel very welcome. The menu is limted, due to his small kitchen space, but is fresh and delicious. I usually have the soup and salad combo because the soups are fulfilling and are derived from JP's family recipes. It is a relaxing lounge venue, not a loud rowdy bar. When we visit, there are always fun groups of friends laughing and sharing good times. We haven't been lucky enough to hit on an evening with live music, but hopefully that will happen soon. Enjoy this great place for local flavor. read more

The food when Jaron (the owner) is in the kitchen is top notch, when he's not there service and food is sub-par at best. Pickles plated too long before it was brought to me turned my chips soggy. My paninis have been burnt and always falling apart as I get them. Love this place as long as Jaron is cooking! The corn dip is always good, and I'm a fan of his pizza. Soup specials are my favorite as they are normally pretty good. Also, there are no highchairs here. This is why lots of people I know don't go to Jp's read more

JPs is a great place to stop for dinner and a drink. They had jazz musicians when I was there once. Great atmosphere for it. I knocked it down one star because service can be a little slow, so go when you have plenty of time to relax and have a drink while you wait. read more

Went to JP's 207 last night for a few drinks with friends, ordered simple liquors with mixers, was charged $8 for each (8oz-TINY) drink. When we asked why it was so much, they said it was a double tall... It wasn't. We saw the bartender use a 1 1/4 oz jigger and was charged double. It's not okay to lie and over charge, especially when it's in front of a fellow bartender who can tell what size jigger you're using. I really hope it was just an honest mistake. read more

I met Jaron (JP) at a Food Safety Class and he invited my staff members and me to come on down during lunch break. I am so glad we did! I am giving only 4 stars because I need to go back again to get the full experience when we are not in a hurry! I ate the Turkey Avocado Panini Sandwich. Very tasty, moist and full of ingredients. My staff had the special that day, which was the BBQ Pulled Pork Panini. Everything was wonderful in a unique underground space. Service was good too! Work brings me to the grand city of Washington about three times a year. While in any city that isn't my home I like to patronize the local establishments. This was a great disappointment. I ordered the chicken finger appetizer and added a side of waffle fries. I know, it's chicken fingers what do you expect......however sit a spell and let me weave my story. Chicken finger appetizer $8 side of waffle fries $2. What cane out.......three chicken fingers and cold waffle fries after 30 minutes. I would love to see somebody purchase the chicken finger appetizer by itself with a group of 4 and they bring out these three tiny chicken fingers. This never happens at any restaurant and I've been to many. The kid menu tenders have two. With the cold fries and all one would think to complain. However, they have mastered the technique of wait as long as possible to bring them terrible food. Most people are there for lunch so there not much time to complain or correct. I know it's a small town with limited options, but try not to waste your hard earned cash! read more

This place is special to me because I come back home to Washington to play music with friends. JPs is the place. Last night, I played with Chris Merz and his Very Happy Band. He is an associate professor of jazz at University of Northern Iowa, and his group is of the highest level. World class. We played his original compositions and the room was on fire!!! Would be appreciated in the most elite jazz clubs in Chicago, New York, or where I come from now, Baltimore. We opened with Randy Swift and local players with a set of world class blues. Went there with a friend for the first time today. Love the way the place looked. However, the service was not good. I got the special which was a sandwich and chips for $8 thought soup was included but could be wrong. Never got any soup. Also the waiter brought our drinks took our order brought our food and then disappeared. Never nice checked on us and we had to go up to the bar and ask for our ticket. I only finished half of my food and was needing a to go box but no waiter around? So disappointed in that. read more
