Vauxhall is the United Kingdom version of a lux-eco car as I call it. Sharing some "luxury" lines, sans the leather seats and giant spoiler, nothing fancy, with a huge savings on Petrol. In Germany the same line of cars are under the name, Opel. There's several models out, but I have a Midnight Black Astra to suit my lifestyle of today. For a little car, you'd be surprised the room she offers. I also like her handling on the turns on the Autobahn. "Well I'm a-running down the road trying to loosen my load... I'm okay with my UK lux-eco hatch in Midnight Black, sans the Lambo roar. It's a small car, nothing fancy, but on the turns it still gives me that Jason Bourne thrill run from the Illuminati...Ta! Cheaper than Halfords - and a great deal happier too!…read more I needed a new car battery, phoned round a few places but most would have to order in, Halfords on the other hand had what I wanted in stock. They had two types - normal (460 crank amps for those who know what I'm talking about) at £80 and £90 for the heavy duty battery (510 CA) and they were asking £4.99 to fit it - I worked that out to be nearly £60 per hour fitting! I found them a bit pushy and desperate for me to buy the more expensive battery. Reluctantly I phoned my main dealer as a last resort before parting with £95, Subaru are bound to be more expensive I thought. They had the heavy duty in stock, supplied fitted and VAT £80, saving myself £15 which I intend to spend down the pub on Friday - who says Main Dealers are pricey, well Woodford Motors are not. I must say that the staff at Woodford Motor Co were a lot more pleasant too (big bonus in my books), this is the first time I've used them and I was impressed with what I saw so I'll be back in August for a service... I'll let you know how I get on.

We were told it had Sony CD player and the bodywork was 'PERFECT'.. yeah my foot perfect.. scratches all over the car... It only had a basic cd player which was originally with the car. The guy who brought the car was in a miserable mood. They cannot do enough for you, their services are good value, and although they are not the cheapest, they are definitely worth paying a little more for when you have something major to do on your car. They will even fit second hand parts you supply to them if you wish. The only caveat I would say is, DON'T ever let these people - Ballards of Finchley ever include your MOT TEST for YOU! Ballards don't test for MOT themselves. They 100% sub-contract this to a local garage nearby called Glebe Motors, which are the poorest performing and rip-off MOT station i have ever experienced in all my years of motoring (approximately 40 years). I am concerned they may have a back-hander arrangement with the management of Ballards but this is only conjecture and certainly it's no reflection on Ballards Service department which is simply excellent.
