We've tried this place twice (to give it "another chance"), but cannot discover its "reputation". The formula of leaving your phone number and wait to be "invited" to dine, should say enough: arrogance all over. Which is not founded by the food you will be served: that is OK to GOOD (but definitely NOT outstanding). The fact that ruins the experience is the lack of decent service; FOOD 3,5 / Service 1. Definitely NOT recommended (again: cross the bridge to the Rechtstraat for the real Italian restaurants... Yes: more than one...!)

I didn't care for the fact that my plate was chipped and the French fries were something I maybe should've seen about substituting. Overall the décor and atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Yelp really let me down with this restaurant. We were in Aachen on vacation and looking for a place…read morefor dinner and the reviews led us to this place. The food was OK, definitely nothing special. But the service was an absolute joke. The servers just stood around and talk to each other, right next to our table sometimes, instead of doing any of their work. We ordered drinks and watch them chat about the weather and about a new grocery store in town for more than five minutes, right next to our table. Then one of them turned to the bar, which was just a couple feet away, and finally poured our drinks. And, in a first for me in Germany, the beers were poured about an inch short of the legal measuring line. (beers in Germany have to be poured up to the mark that matches the size such as .3L, etc) I thought that was illegal? The decor is cheesy, kind of like a Pizza Hut. This place is highly un-recommended. (Though it did seem popular with over-70 set.)

In the…read moreNetherlands it is so very hard to find a good pizza and this is the only place that comes close to a decent slice. A proper coal oven with thin crusted pizza (the way it is supposed to be!) and even, buffalo mozzarella. No ridiculous toppings (pineapple is blasphemy) and not too much tomato sauce. This little bear found something "just right". I am not a fan of all of their combinations (pesto on pizza is weird to me), but you cant go wrong with the regina with tomato sauce.

It's always crowded and even with reservations you will have to wait a couple of minits for a table. They will give a free aperitif while you wait. We had an appetizer together, funghi e lumache, which was ok but not great. The escargots were chewy. For mains i had the filetto funghi porcini (entrecote with cep), which was nice. My wife had tagliatelle mari e monti, which was excellent. I would have given it three stars, were it not for the price we payed, which was steep in my opinion. I think you can eat great here, but keep to the pasta.
