Joyful Noise Preschool offers great curriculum. The staff are eager to teach and watch the students learn, grow, and have fun.

I really have nothing bad to say about this school at all. Loved all the teachers. Highly organized…read moreand efficient. Feels safe for my child. He just graduated and I feel so grateful that we found this school for my son. Miss Katie and Lisa in the "Wise Owls" or 4-5 year old class have been there for as long as my son went there. So at least 3 years. When you see a daycare with high employee retention, they are doing something right. It's a play based school and that was a great fit for my little boy. Highly recommend.

I would not recommend this facility for child care…read more The majority of the staff don't seem to enjoy children --there is no sense that the teachers actually enjoy children. We found the staff to be rather rigid in their teaching & discipline styles. They don't seem to be able to adapt to a specific child's needs. They are frequently understaffed. Always sending out messages to get parents to "volunteer" to skip school/pick up the kids after they've been dropped off. They offer you "credit" if you do this, but the "credit" is significantly less than their daily rate...so essentially you are paying them so you can watch your own kid?!? And if they don't get enough volunteer pick ups, they'll just close classrooms, meaning you can't come to school/you have to pick up your kid after drop off AND you don't get any compensation at all--you are paying them full price so that you can watch your own child. Heaven help you if your kiddo ends up in a class with one of the director's / teacher's kids. They let those kids run wild and pretty much run the classroom. The directors clearly favor a couple staff members over others. That whole situation is super awkward to be peripherally involved in and observe. It reminds me of mean girls in high school...so awkward and not something to appreciate having to see when I'm paying this much for allegedly professional care givers. The cost of enrollment is astonishingly high, even compared to other facilities. They don't do anything there to justify a higher price point--they don't have better staffing ratios, don't offer more activities or provide better food. On top of that, you are expected to help cater a seemingly endless number of meals for teacher appreciation. The formal "teacher appreciation week" consisted of several breakfasts and lunches and the food requests were bizarrely specific. There are several more times throughout the year that you are expected to help cater meals for staff. Overall, I felt that this facility treats the kids as economic units. Their priority is making money, that's it. The facility is clean. Sometimes they have good teachers, but usually the good ones leave within ~12 mos, likely due to the toxic environment. I have heard from others that the care is better for the babies (like up to 18 mos or so). I don't have experience with that at Goddard.

They are very patient and kind. They helped my son build a lot of confidence and autonomy. He always come home with a smile for the most part. When we first started the first month of drop off was hard but they help him feel safe and secure. If you are like me, a worrier, I would caution you against enrolling in the Newberg location downtown. Tiffany has two location one in Dundee and one in Newberg. I wanted to enroll in the Dundee location but it was full. I am not comfortable at all with the traffic of the homeless population going threw there. If this doesn't bother you then disregard. If I could I would give the good Life a 5 star and the Chehalem center a negative 100. Original review 2 star review "The teacher are amazing. That have really helped my son blossom. The reason for the low review it due to their Newberg location at the Chehalem Culture Center. Most mornings you will encounter homeless people treating the front entrance and park like a hotel. When raising concerns with the Director of the Chehalem center I was ignored. Tiffany the owner of the business reach out to me, but still nothing has changed. I even reach out to the police serval time but the Chehalem center refused to have the individual trespass so their hands are tie, all they can do is ask them to leave."

Our fourth grader is reading at a tenth-grade level, and our first grader is doing second-grade math--but more importantly (to us), they LOVE their school and are having an awesome experience. The teachers are just exceptional. They're all deeply attuned to each child's learning style and emotional development. The narrative reports we receive twice a year are so thoughtful and insightful that it's palpable that our kids are really KNOWN and appreciated for who they truly are. Their personality quirks, the edges where they're being challenged by a concept... it's all there. The teachers seriously SEE our kids. All of the teachers we've had has been experienced, compassionate, and connected with the kids. But the best part is that our kids have fallen in love with learning, which is what we hoped for most. Our oldest was quickly becoming an anxious perfectionist at a public school in kindergarten before we made the switch, but as soon as we moved to Marylhurst, he began to expand into a flexible, growth-mindset oriented student who understands that mistakes are one of the best ways to learn. The kids get to learn not through endless worksheets or computer programs, but through student-led projects that often turn into elaborate, imagined worlds. Since the kids own so much of the process together, they are invested in their projects, and learn to collaborate across ages in blended classrooms. And the campus is beautiful; it's woodsy and peaceful, with a pond and forested trails for cross-country running. We couldn't be happier with our kids' experience at Marylhurst. It's a nurturing, inspiring community that fosters curiosity and confidence. 10/10, five stars.
