We had Joy Marie Studios do a shoot for our business in Seattle and could not have been happier with the process AND the outcome. She had the very natural ability to put everyone at ease who was being photographed and captured the people and space perfectly! While it feels like an investment of time and money to have photos taken, the value add from this felt huge. read more

I won't lie, I was lucky enough to be able to call on an all-star cast of vendors for my Palm Springs wedding, but Joy Marie was, far and away, at the very top of the list. Joy is an artist. Truly. She has a degree in art. Her mother is a celebrated artist. And her pedigree shows in the photography she produces. She is amazing. Although you wouldn't exactly know all this when you meet her because she is just so dang down to earth and fun. You start to goof off around her, all the while not knowing she's capturing you in your best light. Which is great, because I HATE posing. For the sake of brevity, Joy and her talents are beautiful, and she should absolutely be trusted make your most special times eternal. read more

Amazing!! From a newly wed husband, I repeat HUSBAND, to any couple that is deciding on which photographer to go with for your special day, you've somehow; through many possible means, been lucky enough to come across Joy Marie Photography. I honestly, have no idea how to express how happy my wife and I were and still are with her Studio's services and end products. Joy and her team were outstanding throughout the entire process. She captured our wedding day in a way that allowed us to really experience it from our guest perspective with a little pleasant twist on how we experienced it ourselves. Her way of finding the most beautiful angles and very powerful shots was the reason we met with her in the first place, after an exhausting search (I MEAN EXHAUSTING) search through endless pictures and slideshows and books and slideshows and pictures, thankfully we found Joy Marie. If you want pictures that will actually excite you, make you smile, a few joyful tears and bring back the absolute best memories of the most important day of your life, you've come across your best option. When you call Joy tell her Alan & Melissa Ogletree (Oct. 7th, 06) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED her and her studio (tell her Melissa & I are available if anyone would like to contact us with questions or just to hear this from us live.) We can't possibly say enough good things about her and her team. Start worrying about the thousands of other items you need to check off, you've found your photographer. You will not be disappointed. Good luck and remember to enjoy planning your, oh so special day. Sincerely, Alan Ogletree read more

It's hard for me to put into words what a phenomenal talent Joy is behind the lens. She has an other-worldly ability to "see" the beauty and the profundity in the ordinary. Her capacity to capture beauty and awe-inspiring moments is second to none. She photographed my wife during her fight against breast cancer. It's hard for me to express how sacred and intimate those moments are, Joy was able to capture not only the moment, but the emotion and the beauty in the midst of pain. I can't recommend her enough. She not only takes pictures, she tells stories and tunes our hearts in to what is most important. read more

Hands down--THE BEST PHOTOGRAPHER IN THE INDUSTRY! As a wedding planner, I've had the opportunity of working with Joy on many weddings and I've also worked with hundreds of other photographers. Joy stands out as a leader in the industry for many reasons. Joy is an artist, not someone who decided they loved photography and picked up a camera one day. When the time came that I needed to book a photographer for my own wedding earlier this year, the choice was clear--Joy Marie. And I am SO GLAD she was available because my photos evoke every emotion that I felt that day and are so perfect that they are beyond words. She nailed it, as I knew she would since she's made so many of my clients SO happy in the past. Why I love Joy Marie: She talks the couple through the engagement session so they feel more than comfortable with the photo session on their wedding day. She positions the couple perfectly to catch the most beautiful angles. This is crucial to any bride who isn't a professional model. You'll feel like the most amazing version of yourself was portrayed when you get your photos back! She has a keen eye for lighting and backdrops as well. I don't need to go into this because her photos speak for themselves. On the back end of things, Joy is professional, kind, prompt, thorough and genuinely passionate for what she does. She's a team player and will do ANYTHING to get amazing photos. She also seems to capture even the quickest moments. Whenever something is photo worthy during your event, Joy is there and makes that split second in time, a piece of art. On top of all of this--there is nobody else I'd rather have following me around on my wedding. Joy is incredibly likable and that is SO important when this person is following you around on one of the most important days of your life. She can get along with anyone as she's very easy going and has the leadership skills to pull groups of people together for beautiful family photos. I'm blown away by how incredible my wedding photos are and Joy has blown away so many of my clients. She's an icon in the industry and you cannot go wrong with Joy Marie! read more

Joy and her team are the most incredible photographers. A lot of wedding photographers have the same cheesy poses over and over again, you won't get that with Joy. What you will get is amazing photos from your big day. If you look at what she's done, it's evident. She photographed my wedding and a few friends and my sisters wedding and she's an absolute pleasure to work with and be around. She creates photos that you want to proudly display in your home, with incredible backdrops and scenery. Photos that make you want to relive that day. The best decision you can make is hiring Joy to photograph your wedding. Her work is beautiful. read more

Exquisite. Stunning. Art. This is what Joy Marie & her talented team captures--absolutely incredible art in her wedding photography. There are not enough words to describe how much we LOVED having Joy Marie as our wedding photographer. A very dear friend highly recommended Joy Marie & once my husband & I saw her work, we knew instantly who would capture one of the most special days in our lives. When you take a look at Joy Marie's work, you're just amazed at her talent. She is blessed with such vision, creativity, & passion to create masterpieces. Joy Marie cares greatly about her clients & respects their wishes. She will not leave any details incomplete. My husband & I would make this decision a million times over--without any hesitation or worries. After receiving our absolutely gorgeous pictures, we'd tried to find ways how we can have Joy Marie capture everything in our lives. We felt as if we can be Joy Marie's specially picked Spokesperson. As a bride, I had hundreds of things going through my mind, but when it was time to be with my handsome husband-to-be to mark our day, I couldn't wait to work with Joy Marie. Those moments will forever be cherished. When we received our pictures, we were overwhelmed with happiness. Every single photo just took our breaths away. It seemed as if we were looking at a Vogue magazine but it was still us, our personalities & culture. We proudly shared with family & friends & still do now. The difficult part was deciding which picture to display first. Joy Marie & her husband, David, are the dream team. They will deliver beyond your expectations. Thank YOU Joy Marie & David for your dedication to your work!!! read more

Joy Marie ruined our daughter and son-in-law's wedding reception and cast a large black cloud over the honeymoon. How? At the reception she took the engagement and wedding rings to another floor to photograph them on a glass table. When she was asked to return them, SHE COULD NOT REMEMBER WHAT SHE HAD DONE WITH THEM!!! They were never found. Police were called and a report taken during the reception. Joy Marie was woefully inadequately insured for the property loss (1/8th the value of the rings). Although she cried about how badly she felt (nothing compared to how the bride and groom were feeling, I can assure you!), we noticed on her blog over the following days how much she and her husband were enjoying a visit to London and "making art" in South Africa. We did not get photos of different groupings of friends and relatives that we wanted because Joy Marie had declined to accept a list from us earlier and asked that we assign one of our guests to that task. Needless to say, the people closest to the bride and groom were going through trash baskets looking for the rings, not gathering people for photos. This was a huge loss, as some of these people had not been together for years, and might never be again due to age and distance. I was incredibly proud of how our bride and groom pulled themselves together for the sake of their guests and salvaged what they could of their wedding reception. My daughter came back from her honeymoon with a string tied around her ring finger. After two months and a claim for emotional damages, the custom engagement ring and wedding rings were eventually able to be replaced. However, we can't get the day back. We just recently got our completed pictures. They remind me of how much of the reception I missed. I feel so cheated, and am as angry today as I was a year ago. P.S. Be careful - when the itinerary for the wedding day was shared with Joy Marie, she told our planner that she and her assistants usually left after the cake was cut. Since our daughter's day included a sparkler send-off at the end of the reception, she wondered if they had to stay for that. Since our contract covered the full event, we were able to insist they stay. read more
