From the moment I stepped foot in the door, Jonathan listened intently as he asked questions that really dug deep into my physical and mental health. He has a super bedside manner which effortlessly lowered my guard almost all the way. I didn't realize how incredibly exhausted, stressed and guarded I've been lately, both mentally and physically. The years have indeed caught up and during the acupuncture treatment, I was feeling emotions and thoughts that I didn't even know I still held on to. He had music playing in the treatment room that really pulls you in. It has such primordial sound to it that it seemed to deeply reasonable with my soul and inner being. At some points, while laying down, it felt like I was having a psychotherapy session with my inner self being the guide. During a few moments, it got so intense that I was about to call it quits, however I focused on my breath, accept the present moment and the emotions that surfaced. From there, I was able to relax even deeper. While I'm not squeamish with needles, I certainly don't like them. Jonathan has a great touch and threaded the needles so smoothly then I barely sense them when they entered the skin. I say barely as of course, your most sensitivity and troublesome body parts will feel it a bit than other areas.. naturally. After the acupuncture portion ended, Jonathan gave me a very relaxing and much needed back massage. After he left the room, I listened to my body and deep some deep self stretching for another 5 minutes. I will certainly be making this a part of my overall regime as I embark on a journey of self-discipline, physical realignment and spiritual discovery.

I was a mess physically and mentally; not healing well and not having the proper chair and sitting for hours was too much. I tried a chiropractor with no relief. Adam provided relief and I am back at action! I don't know what I would have done if Adam had not been recommended. I couldn't enjoy anything. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't think. All I felt was the endless pain all over my body. I asked my friends on Facebook if they knew of any amazing acupuncturists. A few of them mentioned Dr. Zhao. So I called, made an appointment for that same week. At our first appointment I explained what had happened and how I was feeling. Dr. Zhao was very thorough and extremely knowledgeable. I was there for an hour and felt confident she would get me back to my old self again. I went back a few days later. I was feeling slightly better as these things take time. I had my second appointment and started feeling less depressed and sad and in less pain. I continued to go every week and got better and better with each visit. Dr. Zhao has a wonderful personality. She is sweet, kind and VERY caring. I look forward to and very much enjoy going to see her every week!!! My pain went from a 10 to a 0. I sleep much better. I don't feel sad and depressed from pain. I started going to acupuncture this year to deal with a repetitive stress injury/compressed nerve issue. I've gone to occupational therapy, doctors, fixed my work station, and started working on posture - all of which helped a lot, but I still felt pain and residual tingles and never felt 100%. Being in constant discomfort really affected my mental health and happiness. My family suggested I try acupuncture to help with my pain since it's something a family member does to deal with back pain rather than getting a steroid shot, and I was so desperate for relief that I agreed. Listen, I'm someone that believes and uses Western medicine - I come from a family of medical professionals, but acupuncture totally works and I tell all my friends and family to try it. To me, it feels like tension in my body dissipates once the needle is taken out - like a rubber band that is no longer being pulled tight. I was never a believer before I tried acupuncture but I can't stop raving about it. I'd go every day if I could - it's much better than damaging your liver with anti-inflammatories. I think I have a decent pain tolerance and I'm neutral towards needles, but you honestly shouldn't even feel the needles if your acupuncturist is experienced and communicative which they definitely are at Su Acupuncture. I never feel the needles when I go here - I've seen both Dr. Su and Lin (Lynn? Lynne? They do a full evaluation and it's crazy how they know things about your health just by looking at your tongue and taking your pulse. I didn't even realize how tender and sore I was in some areas until they did their assessment and gently pushed on my arms and legs. Even though I was satisfied with my other acupuncturist, I started coming here because I saw a new location opening up, saw a Groupon deal, and it's closer to me. I am so glad that I did and I feel confident they'll get me back to feeling 100%. The inside is brand new, the women here are friendly and professional, and they offer so much more than other acupuncturists. They give a massage and do cupping as well - those aren't offered at the other places on Long Island that I've gone to. I got the hot stone massage and it was just the thing for my tense shoulders. I feel like a brand new person when I go here. There's plenty of parking available, close to the train station, and it's near some pretty nice restaurants too. They also accept insurance from most carriers.
