There are a lot of older people sitting around gossiping, complaining... people answer their phones, eat snacks and chew loudly... I was sweating in there during my first visit, but Dr. Kangadis is great. He and his office staff helped me get great care (I even forgive the huge bruise I got after bloodwork, haha), get sent out for tests, and listened to what was going on. It's really hard to find that. He seems to be very busy (understandable!), but still makes you feel like you are being listened to, and cared about. The entire team here are professional and deliver top notch performance. The front desk staff are spot on and just accommodating, the check out experience is accurate and fast paced. The office layout is spacious and immaculate. I can't say enough about Dr. Levy who has treated my mom's aneurysm for 10 years and there is complete trust in his capabilities. All in all a consistently great experience.

He actually said "oh, you'll feel better after surgery!" - I told him not to sign the surgery consent until they addressed his pain, they finally called in a few days of Tylenol 3s which made no sense to me as he was already taking extra strength Tylenol without relief. I get that there's an opioid problem, but when you're in tears and cannot walk from a massive hole in your leg, then you get surgery to have a wound vac installed, don't you think that warrants SOMETHING? Of course the Tylenol 3s didn't provide any relief, we went through several sleepless nights, at his follow up 3 days later, still complained of terrible pain but was told there was nothing they could do. The hole in his leg looks like a shark took a bite out of it and there's a machine attached constantly applying pressure! The hole measures 8cmx6cmx6cm - NOT SMALL!! Again, competent doctor but very impatient and dismissive, cuts you off, horrible bedside manner. He's at least 75 years old (doesn't look it from all the plastic surgery he's gotten), and I really think when you start to be so jaded you treat your patients like that, it's time to retire.

We've seen a few different doctors (sometimes we aren't able to see his PCP) and everyone is very knowledge, cordial and kind. The nurses are all great and attempt to calm my son down who get a a bit nervous as he's only 2.5 (he started seeing his doctor at 18 months when we moved to NYC). At times during afternoon visits when they're busier the wait time can be a little long but that's fine. We are patient and things work out.

And so I wanted to take the time to pay it forward to other Yelpers by noting that Dr Bungay has now moved his practice to NYU Langone Penn District over on 31st and 9th. I saw him there for the first time today and I have to tell you, I was IMPRESSED. The facility is brand spanking new and in amazing condition, and every staff member I met was friendly and helpful. The new office runs extremely efficiently. I arrived 10 minutes early, checked in at the electronic kiosk, and was welcomed in 2 minutes before my official 2pm appointment time by a nurse who did my intake. Dr Bungay saw me right after, and then another nurse came in to give me a quick and easy tetanus shot after about 5 minutes' wait. This facility also happens to have a phlebotomist onsite, and so I FINALLY got bloodwork done after years of never getting around to making a separate appointment at LabCorp downstairs! An extra bonus -- one of the nurses had already gotten me in "line" for the phlebotomist before I even walked out of Dr Bungay's office, so I had zero minutes of wait time once I walked down the hall to get there. Lab results began to roll into the patient portal later that same night, and I was notified by text message. All very impressive. Dr Bungay himself, of course, remains as gentle and caring of a doctor as he always has been. For anyone potentially worried about the loss of Gotham Med and the transition to the big faceless NYU Langone machine -- you don't need to be. It still feels like the kind and friendly practice that Dr Bungay's old office was, and now maybe even a little shinier!

Once in a while I did encounter a kind doctor who took their time to really understand my health concern. I've since tried NYU and Mount Sinai and have had a much better experience at both.
