She has been in business in her location for many years, it's a cozy welcoming salon. I'm always offered a cup of coffee & a piece of cake or candy while I wait my turn. We say her shop is like a bus stop, full of men, women & even kids, waiting their turn for a trim, color or perm. She is worth the wait, I highly recommend Linda. Added bonus, she is a super nice lady with a knowledge of current events so time passes fast at her salon. She takes walk in's, but if she has appts ahead of you, you do have to wait so she can serve those customers, but the wait is usually short. I usually call a couple hours before I plan to come by & she accommodates me. Parking can be tricky, there are only a few spots out front of the storefront. But there is street parking or you can park in back.

I've been to 6salon, Alchemy Color Lab, everywhere. Now, I've got thick, straight, black Asian hair. I've been blonde to the root for about three years now. After the 100th disappointing and overcharged hair appointment left my root brassy and chunky, I decided it was time for a change. Peter at New U2 is a godsend. He told me he worked in New York for 15 years before moving to Michigan. I have no idea why he would make that move, but I sure am glad that he did! He and Jake spent 5.5 hours sectioning, foiling, toning, washing, cutting, and drying my hair. It usually wouldn't take that long, but I had grown out my black roots for like. Four months (yeah, I know). After drying, they went through the trouble of touching up and toning some spots that I didn't even notice, so they did the wash/dry cycle one extra time just to be thorough. I also had a brassy band coming in from my last appointment, so they had to figure out bleaching and toning and blending the root from black to brassy to blonde. Not an easy task! All in all, I was pleasantly surprised. This appointment also cost less than my last one, where they did a worse job. They speak Mandarin and Cantonese and English, of course. I can't recommend them enough!

The owner, Manal, was very kind. She washed my hair throughly with shampoo and conditioner, removed any damaged hair pieces, and recommended a short bob cut to provide the look of volume to my hair. I'm very picky about my hair and am learning what I like as I wanted to go shorter. At my first cut short with Dream, it was storming and the power went out at the salon and we didn't get to do the finishing touches, so she gave me a free product had me come back a couple days later for a complimentary cut where I decided I wanted to go even shorter and get bangs. I still was not satisfied with the cut (let me clarify that Dream is an amazing stylist and did exactly what I asked her to do, but I wanted to pick an owner's brain about what would look good on me), so I requested an apt with an owner. Tony got me in the next day and we took it even shorter and he cut it with a razor. He made it look exactly like the picture I showed him but I still was not satisfied with it on me so I requested to come back again for a pixie and he got me in a few days later. I LOVE how the pixie looks on me. It just took me four separate haircuts to get there. I only paid once for the initial cut. And after the last cut Tony still said to give him a ring if anything else needs to be done. This is pristine customer service. Everyone I interacted with was so patient, accommodating and supportive as I learned how I wanted my hair to look. Additionally, both salons (Clawson and Birmingham) are super clean and just cool spaces to hangout when getting a haircut. Highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend.
