Not to brag, I suffer a major trauma four five years ago and spent two months in a coma and then a…read morelong time in a hospital in rehab and met a lot of different doctors and nurses. so my experience level with them maybe a little bit more than most people require hahaha. I've had a neurologist, a cardiologist an orthopedist, a Thoracic Surgeons and just about any other kind of doctor you could imagine work on me. but I never ever ever realized the true value of a nurse until I spent all that time in the hospital. I had the great privilege of being a friend of one of the most respected Thoracic Surgeons in the country, dr. Joseph Wilson, in Palm Springs California. And dr. Wilson told me if I truly wanted to know what the best thing to do was, just ask the nurses that took care of the patients after the doctor got done working on them? What an interesting concept coming from a doctor, it may be one of the reasons he is so highly respected! What does this have to do with Johnson City Family Physicians? When I decided to leave California and the comfort of all my knowing doctors in that area I came to Johnson City and found out that sometimes that care is not always the same or the care allowed is not always the same in different states. So after a few failed attempt to find a family physician here in Tennessee, something led me, for those of you that believe in God you'll know what I mean for those of you who don't let's just call it a very interesting set of circumstances. I made an appointment with a nurse practitioner? That is a person who started out in the medical field to provide the care and compassion that a nurse does and then through their own personal desire went back to school and got a master's in order to be able to prescribe and care for patients just like a doctor does. So you get the care and compassion of a nurse send it in with the capabilities of a doctor, and I can assure you did some doctors aren't really that interested in your personal being? I know that sounds funny but if you would like me to share instances out of the hospital with you I will. So went to the office and I should have known right when the nurse came out to get me, her name was Doris Hardin, and my aunt Doris was married to my Uncle Joe and brought me to Great cousins and I used to work with a gentleman named Denning Hardin, who always made me laugh because he said there is no ding in Hardin hahaha and then the nurse practitioner Doctor Pat Gibson came in, and it was my aunt passed who offered to adopt me from my mom because my mom was only 17 years old when I was born set my mom chose to come to California and live with her sister on Gibson Road in Woodland Cprovideralifornia! So the words and the word Gibson were both big parts of my life before I even got here and I mean a lot to me and fortunately they mean far more to me now than they used to because I have found a caring considerate understanding and a dog loving oh, and it was a dog's love and push that actually got me back walking again so, well, I would have given Dr Gibson 20 Stars but that would have been a couple hundred too short? Or maybe thousands?

While I was intending on paying my bill, as I always pay all of my bills, and while still in communication with billing over this matter, they sent me to collections. They apologized for the inconvenience, apparently it was too inconvenient for them to look at my pay history or give me a call or tell me this when I called. This is neither inconvenient or unfortunate, this is part of the bigger problem with healthcare in the U.S. today...the gatekeepers are holding us hostage, no wonder ChatGPT has become our new Primary and UGL's our new pharmacy.

Next I told the docs I had Hep B 40 years ago and they tested me for Hep C which is more or less intravenous drug use sharing dirty needles. Me? NEVER. When asked my major concern I said SLEEP. For the next 4 months with NO SLEEP MEDS I only sleept 2-3 hrs a night. I still have issues and they don't prescribe anything for sleep. I tried Ambien which caused my left eye to water and 3 months later, the eye still waters constantly. They prefer you have NOTHING rather than Xanax or clonazepam. WHY? No side effects on either for 30+yrs but it MAY cause dementia and I would rather be demented at 80 than suffer the side effects of useless drugs that don't work. Testing for dementia was a misleading test. Look it up.

People coughing everywhere. A total germ bowl. This was last March 2019 before the pandemic. He was eventually seen and given antibiotics, cough suppressants, etc. A week later, still not feeling better, we went back. They put him on another course of meds and sent us on our merry way. Well we got billed for first visit 106.00 and second visit 179.00. I have been disputing this for several months, would have settled this sooner if not for the death of both my parents within a 6 month period. I spoke with them on different occasions trying to get this settled and it ended up in collections. They ended up taking a 25% discount off, so instead of $285.00 it is now 214.00. Still way too much money. They blamed it on insurance and deductions. Maybe so, but let's face it, they can and will bill however they want to. They said it's the way it's coded. Whatever. Bottom line is They have the power to adjust billing however they want, as they did with the 25% discount. I ended up paying it because I wanted off our credit report. I will tell you that I could be dying and I would not go back to this place EVER. I also had taken my now deceased mother there for immediate care, she had a bad cut on her shin, and they did not treat her well either. It was like first year residents, didn't know what they were doing. They ended up sending us to the hospital for treatment. So bills from both. Ridiculous. FOLKS, do yourself a favor and never go to this Urgent facility. It may kill you, or bankrupt you.
