It started the night a veneer fell off, front and center of my smile, the night before flying out for an important event the next morning. Panicked, I reached out to Dr. Ohanesian and to my amazement, he texted me back (at 11PM!) and had me come in before normal working hours in order to squeeze me in. He completely saved the day! I just went back to take care of a couple of things and just can't say enough regarding how kind, patient, compassionate, funny, and what a great dentist he is. Making a living is of course important, but he is clearly not in it just for the money. This man clearly loves what he does. He has integrity. I have had a few appointments already, and my opinion has not changed. Rebecca, the front desk receptionist who assisted me, deserves praise and recognition. She made me feel very welcome on my first day. She was cheerful and made me feel important as a new patient. They also gifted me a "Welcome!" goodie bag!!! How nice is that?? Priscilla is the dental hygienist who has assisted me a few times now. She is very polite, knowledgeable, and patient. I can tell by all of the happy employees that this is a healthy work environment. I have had the opportunity to see both Dr. Gerald Shinkawa and Dr. Nichole Shinkawa. Each of them was super kind, intelligent, and made me feel at ease. They are very efficient at what they do and make you feel appreciated for coming into their dental office. I was greeted upon entering the office and was introduced to all members at the front desk. I was given what was basically a pricing sheet for services the office provided as they relate to my particular insurance. I appreciated this to circumvent any questions or surprises. The dental assistant called my name, introduced herself, and provided an introduction to the practice itself. She showcased the accreditation of all three doctors (also father , son and daughter) as well as a photo walking the family. There was a little welcome gift bag in my exam chair with some small person hygiene items. The dental assistant took the time to ask about me and made me feel valued. The cleaning and exam was done by the patriarch of the practice. His mannerism and knowledge is precise and comfy at the same time. It was a great experience and happy to say that this is an an example of a door opening when another has shut.

Rarely have I gotten the same dentist or hygienist so you don't really feel a connection. After my cleaning today, was told I had to wait for 3D scans. The tech that did this didn't explain the purpose other than this is new and done annually. Not a comfortable experience. Not sure why they make you sit in the waiting area after you are done, though I suspect it's because they want to be sure if you owe money, they will get paid before you are "dismissed." Prior to be dismissed today, I asked to get a calendar reminder for my appointment 6 months from now. Was told they text reminders and they can give me a card with the details and "I can put it manually in my own calendar." Showed her my reminder I received just this week that I inputted into my Outlook calendar. She literally rolled her eyes and said "we don't control automated reminders!!! The good: The hygienist I had today was really good. The employees here are typically nice and professional (today was an exception of the eye rolling receptionist).

I have never been treated with such disrespect by a healthcare professional in my life. His behavior was rude, aggressive, and completely out of line. The staff has always been wonderful, but after that experience, I have lost all confidence in Dr. Mark Takeda's (the son) professionalism and skill. They got me all the paperwork I needed as a new patient and informed me that they would be able to get me in to see the dentist today. I had been fighting an issue with a toothache for 4 days which was causing me extreme headaches. My fear was that I was going to need to have that tooth pulled and they weren't going to be able to help me today. I was able to get in to see the dentist get an X-ray of problem tooth and have the tooth extracted. I was so relived that they were able to fit me in.
