I originally went in on an emergency case basis, and have continued my care from there. Dr. Patil is just wonderful. He and his staff made me feel completely comfortable from the moment I walked in. He explains everything clearly, reviews all treatment options, and provides pain free care. I had two root canals performed by him and never felt any pain at all. He even called me personally the morning after a particularly difficult procedure just to make sure I was feeling well. I have never felt so at ease at the dentists office! Their appointments do book up quickly, but you can always leave a note that you would like to come in earlier for an appointment should one open up (and they actually follow up for you!). The office was just remodeled and is very comfortable.. all treatment rooms are private.

Then, upon leaving, they noted that the dentist applied another layer on the tooth, so that was another $65 charge. So again, had to pay the balance. Out comes the wallet, credit card and payment procedure #2. Why not just pay for all services at the end, like virtually all professional offices I have ever encountered? This was: 1. Aquidneck Dental still gets a 5 star rating from me BUT Dr Ruel gets a 0 rating!…read more Disappointing Denture Relining Experience with Dr. Ruel I had a highly unsatisfactory experience with Dr. Ruel at Aquidneck Dental in Portsmouth for a hard relining of my dentures, which cost $1,600. My upper denture was initially comfortable, with only a minor thin spot prompting the relining, but my lower denture was problematic, requiring denture adhesive before meals and still becoming loose during eating. Dr. Ruel, nearing retirement and working only one day a week, scheduled my impressions for the following week, promising a next-day turnaround. However, when I called to confirm post-relining care for potential sore spots, the office assured me Dr. Ruel would be available. Upon dropping off my dentures, he then informed me they would take a week, contradicting his earlier promise. After I reminded him of his initial claim, he made a brief call to the lab and stated they could deliver the next day. I suspect he was reluctant to come in on his day off, leaving me without dentures for longer than expected. When I received my dentures, the upper plate was uncomfortably tight, and the lower plate felt unchanged, as if no work had been done. After pointing this out, Dr. Ruel reduced the charge to $800 and offered an immediate soft relining. Unfortunately, the soft relining was poorly executed: the lower plate had untrimmed excess material and there are sharp edges on the outer teeth, while the upper plate's roof lining felt like sandpaper, causing significant soreness in the roof of my mouth. I had to return multiple times, waiting a week between appointments, to address persistent sore spots and problems. The teeth still feel unpolished and rough. Now, my upper denture requires adhesive to stay in place--unlike before--and moves when chewing tougher foods like steak. The lower denture is so loose that I need to re-apply adhesive multiple times during a single meal. Overall, my dentures are in worse condition than before, and I'm don't think they can be fixed. I strongly advise against seeing Dr. Ruel, who has since relocated to Tiverton. This review pertains solely to Dr. Ruel's service, not the other excellent dentists at Aquidneck Dental in Portsmouth.

I called Dr. Moody's office where I explained I would be a first time patient and described some brief details about my condition. I provided basic information on the phone and was lucky enough there was a cancellation. I showed up at their office 10 minutes after I hung up the phone. They were expecting me and I was sitting in a dentist chair with an x-ray completed in 5 minutes. While waiting for the x-rays to develop- Christine, the dental hygienist, thoroughly reviewed my options depending on my x-ray results/diagnosis. Unfortunately, with this practice being "General Dentistry", many of my treatment/resolution options could not be performed at this location. She researched my dental insurance and called multiple dentists in the area that offered the treatment options. She also was able to obtain pricing from these other offices. Once my diagnosis was revealed, Dr. Moody and Christine began working on options that they could perform to help ease my pain immediately. They went out of their way at 4PM to ensure I would not go into the weekend with any pain and performed the necessary procedure to relieve it. They provided me with a prescription to treat potential infection, which they called into my local pharmacy and also scheduled my appointment for a root canal at a local dentist. I am so appreciative that they took the time out of their day to treat my symptoms where they could've just sent me away with pain medication prescription and sent me on my way. I'm now able to enjoy the weekend with my kids instead of being all doped up- something both I and my kids appreciate. To be quite honest, this is the first review I have ever done so willingly- whether it be an Amazon review, movie review, or one as such. I am usually too busy to even take the time out of my day to provide feedback. The service and treatment and care I received at Dr. Moody's office warrants a review far superior than I can put into words. My fillings and crowns were expertly crafted and placed. Never had a problem with any of his work. I had some front tooth-colored fillings done and I can't tell the filling from the teeth!
