All is not lost, however, as a little shop in Pontypridd carry a good stock of most things the amateur beer and wine maker requires from kits to fermenting vessels and most of the other things required for the hobby. In addition to wine making they carry many other goods for example dried fruits a wide selection of wild nuts ,organic flour, and a large selection of loose herbs and spices, plus a selection of ethnic foods and products. The shop is run by two gentlemen Eric and Peter who are always ready for a chat and advice, which makes a complete change from the anonymiity of the supermarket. Its an old fashioned shop with a personal service and well worth a visit.

Well, if it can, Simply Fresh is definitely up there when it comes to beautiful supermarkets. It's just a relatively small shop (about the same size as Tesco Expresses) but the aisles are spacious and you never feel cramped here. It's also immaculately clean, well-organised, and even the decor makes you feel welcomed. Supermarkets to me are normally drab and hectic, but I really enjoy strolling through the aisles having a browse at Simply Fresh. ~ Variety: Because it's a small shop, you can't get much variety. For example, they don't sell any fresh protein at all and ironically their fresh veggies section is pretty limited as well. However, they do have plenty of pantry-type goods and standard purchases as well (eggs, bread, etc.) --- For a healthy-organic supermarket, I would've thought the prices would be a bit steep. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the prices at Simply Fresh. I guess the prices are a bit lower given that they're catering to poor students. I was right about the first bit. This is a wonderful little store with a really down-to-earth and funky vibe. From the snazzy and colourful (Caribbean influenced?) frontage to the actual products on display it's clear that a lot of thought has gone into this enterprise. The focus is on organic, fresh and healthy food and drink. Towards the back of the shop the store opens up into a huge back room filled with excellent raw foods, cleaning products, teas and so much more. There's often a good little deal on the go so things really aren't too dear - and the owner's lovely too! A real gem this one.

A good place to stock up on supplies, it's a actually fairly well priced despite being organic. And of course having museli every morning is a lot cheaper than a bacon sandwich, so a good place if you're tight on cash. Very popular, it can get overcrowded on Saturdays. They stuff quite a lot into a small space, unexpected finds include toiletries (eco-friendly ones, of course). Scoopaways a great idea and a good place for cheap staples.

A perfect place for the health and ethically conscious, the shop stocks everything from frozen food to sweets and sundries. I'm a particular fan of the gluten free range, as I have a caeliac friend who I often invite to dinner parties. The staff are always really helpful in showing me what's the best product for my recipe.
