If I could rate lower I would! My son is special needs. He received-a promotion an wanted to purchase a new suit. The manager had a salesman tell us, "He was a liability and they could not help him!" How do you look at him an say that? I am so appalled! At 34 years old I have never been told that! I will never step foot in the store again and will tell other people how horrible this was! I am disabled and in a wheelchair. I went in to see about getting a custom suit made. I figured if they could not do it they could direct me to someone that can do it. instead after waiting for 30 mins in the tailor, who would not acknowledge my presence, I was told. they "could not take on the liabilty" I've heard a lot of things in my time on this planet but never that., over clothing?? I'm always curious when people give bad reviews, saying that the customer service was horrible. I visited this location for the first time today, and Joe was extremely helpful and answered any questions that I had about the different types of fits. The shirts that I purchased fit perfectly. Anyone saying that they had a bad experience with Joe probably has issues with people in general. read more

My brother is getting married and established an "event number" with their store in another state so that we could rent tuxedos. When I called the store to check about this they told me "we don't rent tuxedos". Amazing. I finally went to the store and provided the Jos A Banks event number and was fitted for the tux. The salesman did provide me with a paper containing the measurements and then was DONE. He either was terribly trained or did not want to do his job related to the event and to help me pick up the tux in the wedding location. I had to google the location out of state an call them directly. I don't know if it is just this store or they just don't want to rent tuxes. What a pain. read more

Wow! Talk about service. I have despised suit salespeople and the entire process of buying suits, but Joe S. provided me with excellent service and only tried to sell me on what I wanted to wear. My husband and I visited this store on Harbison Blvd. in Columbia, SC a few months ago. We spent nearly $800 on slacks, a sport coat, and shirts. Because my husband is short, we paid over $20 per piece to have them tailored. What a mistake! The sport coat came back with one sleeve more than one inch shorter than the other. The slacks were no better. Every pair of pants had one leg shorter than the other. Additionally, because his inseam is roughly 26 1/2 inches, it often requires that the tailor splint the side seam and bring the taper of the pant leg itself in a bit so that the cuff does not pucker. Of course, your tailor did not do this and every cuff was puckered at the side. We brought everything back and received terrible customer service. The salesmen all but ignored us standing at the counter as they floated around the nearly empty store for several minutes. When we finally got a salesman to attend to us, he was not very friendly. He acted as if he did not believe our claims of poor tailoring (made faces, rolled his eyes). He had my husband put every piece on, and even he could not deny the difference in length. He begrudgingly agreed to have them re-tailored. When we got the pieces back the sport coat sleeves were closer in length, but still not exactly right. One sleeve even looks a little twisted at the cuff. The paints are still puckered at the bottom, because the side seams had not been taken in as they should have. My husband, being the mild mannered man that he is, was not willing to go back a third time to have the pieces corrected. I, on the other hand, get angry every time I pick these clothes up from the cleaner and see how horrendous they look. I went to Jos A Banks to take advantage of the buy 1 suit get 2 free suits. Sales person was very professional; however the sale is a major rip off. Typically Jos A. Banks keeps a suit for sale for $199 on the rake (type H); however when they ran the sale "buy one, get two free" they jack the price of the (H) suit to $595. So what's free???? What a rip off, shop elsewhere. read more

Wish I could rate this place a 0. I went in to get fitted for a tux and got measured at 44. I am 5ft 6 and 215 pounds. The (bald Caucasian male) guy said they didn't have anything that would fit me but he made it like I was some fat lard who couldn't fit anything they had. He then pointed me to the BIG AND TALL store across the street and told me that's probably the only place I could find something. Of course I went there and the lady looked at me in disbelief that I listened to the guy. She said that this store was catered to big people and I wasn't big. She then recommended Dillards, JC Penny, and Belk. Guess what? I found everything I needed at those stores. It seems that the guy working at the store just wasn't knowledgable about the area or just flat out didn't want to help. Not to mention the jackets he tries on you smell terribly of B.O. I would not recommend this place, bad service and apparently doesn't have good stock. read more
