I won't hesitate to bail (even as a new patient) just to seek out someone better. You pretty much get one chance to keep me or lose me. The biggest issue I face is that I've been cursed with ultra-sensitive teeth. And most people who work on my teeth just butcher their approach. They eagerly whip out the Cavitron, my mortal enemy that ejects sprays of cold water, something that simulates my teeth being ripped out with pliers. Lazy hygienists seem to prefer this approach over simply scraping away the plaque by hand. After circulating through at least 15 dentist offices in my life, I finally found Laser Dentistry in Franklin. The drive coming down from Nashville is absolutely worth it! At this welcoming office filled with wonderful employees who genuinely care about their pateints, they respect my wishes to avoid the dreaded Cavitron, carefully removing the plaque between my teeth one gentle scrape at a time. And that's all I've ever wanted. This is officially my dentist for life!

I have been a patient for over a year at Jolly & Morton and I went in recently for my 6 month…read morecleaning and told them I was having some increased pain around my crown on my front tooth # 7 (had the crown for over a decade) and I have an issue with clenching my jaw in my sleep and maybe that was part of the problem. I didn't get much a response to this. I went in about a month later with more concern for increasing pain around the crown (sensitivity, throbbing). They took x-rays and said I needed orthodontics that it was my overbite & clenching causing the pain (had the crown for over a decade and never had this pain but ok), then they asked me if I wanted to do invisalign with them. I said no and went to an orthodontist and scheduled invisalign with them in a month. The pain in my crown got significantly worse over the next month and I called Dr. Anderson with Jolly & Morton to speak with him about my concerns, because something was not right. He never spoke with me, just passed a message to the front desk girl to tell me it was normal and I needed to correct my bite through ortho, there was no infection. Twice I asked to speak with him and twice he passed me off that my concerns were not legit. He suggested my orthodontist look at my xrays when i went to him. My ortho listened to me, my symptoms, did some evaluating, said it didn't sound right, and sent me to an endodontist for a more detailed eval.....and come to find out I had a fractured tooth under my crown and significant dead tissue causing the pain. I had already put a down payment on my ortho treatment and they already ordered my invisalign but I don't even know that I truly need it. So under the direction of Dr. Anderson, $5600 has been possibly unnecessarily spent thanks to a 'professional' dentist that didn't listen to his patient, didn't take his patient's concerns seriously, and pushed invisalign as a treatment rather than getting to the actual cause of the problem. Terrible dentist.

I slept on it - and decided to share my experience here…read more I visited this practice yesterday because I have an unusual issue. I bit my tongue a few weeks ago and have developed an infection beneath the bite. It has bothered me for a quite a while and I was incredibly anxious and scared about seeing a physician about it. I have put it off because I was really, really nervous about it - and this experience did nothing to reduce my anxiety. It made me feel horrible actually. The younger of the two docs was in the room with me for about 4 minutes - looked at my situation and made a few, "oh, gosh", and "oh wow" remarks (this made me feel great, Dr. Thomas!) and then sat down and told me he had never seen anything like that and had no idea how to treat it. Let me repeat - a trained oral surgeon had no idea what he was looking at and had no idea what to do. I found reams of medical literature and documentation that explained it quite clearly and I did not even go to medical school. I called a physician friend at Vandy, who said I should have left with an Rx for antibiotics, at the very least, and a referral to a doc who could help me. He suggested I make an appointment with Vanderbilt Otolaryngology. Back to my story. Instead, this doc said he would consult the more senior physician and the pathologist about it and said that perhaps medicine would be more effective than surgery. He then left the room. No kidding, 20 seconds later, the aid returned to tell me I was all set and that front desk lady would be happy to take my money. I was charged $105 for 4 minutes and a physician who never returned with those recommendations, never made an effort to make me feel at ease, didn't suggest what I do as an alternative, didn't refer me to another physician, didn't prescribe meds, but did feel perfectly comfortable charging me anyway. I went to the car and cried for about 10 minutes. I took a breath and called Vanderbilt Otolaryngology and got an appointment later in the week. The scheduler said they see bites and abscesses all the time - I can see I should have gone straight to the best institution in the city rather than bother with a suburban, private, profit-driven practice. Better docs. Better care. No humiliation on the side. Lesson learned.

So I was left to be in pain for rest of my life if I saw no other treatment. Sought a 2nd opinion which immediately determined upon examination that the filling was compromised and needed to be redone. The 2nd opinion was communicated to this dentist. I sent an email and went in person to give this office the chance to redo the filling, release my insurance claim, or refund for out of pocket costs paid for the last filling. They refused all 3 options and closed my account. I later went to my pcp and was prescribed oral rinse which got rid of most my pain when used per the instructions. I got the filling at the 2nd dentist (as the pain would come back when oral rinse was not used) and the pain was gone the day after treatment. I am so disappointed that the dentist would rather choose a complaint to the dental board, filing with insurance appeal, a bbb complaint and negative review on social media sites, and the possibly getting sued instead of just taking accountability. This could have been easily avoided had you offered to redo the filling at the follow up (Like any other good Dentist would have done) OR just released the insurance claim OR paid back the $300 I paid out of pocket. You might be ok here with a dental cleaning but anything else that is irreversible Caveat Emptor. (Or in other words if this office makes a mistake beware you will foot the bill)
