The second barbershop I had gotten a cut there before and was a happy returning customer. But this time there was a female in the shop and she became afraid when I walked in so I never returned. The barbers are always sure to clean their tools and the shop is relatively large. I never have to wait for more than one person in front of me and Junior has even held my spot in line a couple times. He remembered my cut from the first time and never skips a beat when I sit in his chair. I'm a picky customer and he always nails it. I'm sure the other barbers are great as well. The atmosphere in this place is SO chill. Fun music and lots of laughing. Seems like a good mix of young and old clientele. Prices are standard, hours are forgiving, and service is great. The owner calls me, on my birthday mind you, And offered to refund me my money but only after I deleted the post and goes on to talk to me about how it is people like me that annoys him....just because I left a review of the haircut that I received and that this is why he would rather not have black customers in his shop!!! Due to the current political and racial climate, I think it is important that business like yours, with owners who don't want black support, be exposed. What disgusts me most about this business owner is that he himself is black and literally told me, a black customer who spent $50 on a Bad haircut, that he doesnt like black customers. When I wandered into J&P I was actually walking to another barbershop. Needed a local expert closer to home than my regular guys in the city. There was an elder already with another older gentleman. While he was cutting away, I wondered if he could finesse my beard. It was then Gene walked in, a bald dark-skinned stocky man, chatted quickly then got out his crisp white barbers jacket. I was the first in his chair that day and when I looked up almost hour later I marveled in the detail he put into my hair with the clippers, then his expert and steady hand with the straight razor. I looked into the mirror when he was done, now well past an hour after he started and was more than satisfied with my cut, I also knew this was my guy. The time spent in Gene's chair is worth more than the cut. You are sitting with a bonafide professional. I'm not going anywhere.

This place is a little pricey, but they do a good haircut…read more I called up Brooklyn Tonsorial and they said they could get me in immediately, so I headed on down. I got a great cut. They were able to do a very accurate fade. And I liked how they trimmed the line on my neck to perfection. Parking can be a little iffy. You have to park on one of the side residential streets most of the time. Its not too bad. I can usually find a space within 2 blocks. Better way to do it is just to take the subway. There's two stops nearby.

The overall vibe in there is not very inclusive as far as barbershops go but hey I just need a weekly haircut. My impression of this place is that it has good barbers that don't value their customers. On a couple of occasions I have come into this place in the evening and there are only 2 barbers there. The hours posted are Monday - Thursday 10am-9pm; Friday - Saturday 10am-10pm and Sunday 10am-7pm. Good luck getting a haircut on a slow day, (i.e. Monday or Tuesday) unless you know them personally. Barbers can never give you a schedule of when they will be in. You can call or text them but most of the time you never get a response. Once I asked what time will you be in on Saturday and I was told it depends how my Friday night goes. I find that to be an unacceptable response when you are offering a service. But hey others tolerate it and it seems to be their standard practice. It's sad that you have to chase down barbers to perform a service that they are being paid for. Maybe if they begin to lose their clientele then they will get their act together. For me I'm going where I am valued as a customer and advise you to do the same.
