Jon is simply the best. I purchased a session with him at a charity event with the intention of getting a portrait of my then five year old son. What quickly became apparent when I called to schedule the session is that Jon is no ordinary photographer. First, he wanted to meet with me and my husband prior to the photography session. I admit, I was initially puzzled by this but after meeting with him it made sense. During our initial meeting, he inquired about our goals for the session, general information about our family, our likes and dislikes. He educated us about the science and art of portrait photography and his philosophy as an artist. He talked us through his methodology about photographing the whole family - something that we had not previously considered. Neither me nor my husband felt like we were in our best physical condition and didn't necessarily want a family portrait to document that fact - but Jon convinced us to give it a go. I am so glad he did. On the day of the photography session, he was wonderful. He engaged our son and made me and my husband completely comfortable in front of the camera. He was patient and attentive to every detail. The results of his efforts are obvious with the finished product. To say that we were blown away by our pictures would be an understatement. Viewing the proofs and choosing our favorites to be printed was a daunting task, as there were so many great shots to choose from. I'm not sure what the problem the 1-star people have with Jon, but this is the second time we have used his photographic expertise, and he has again done a fantastic job. Yes, it is expensive. But we were looking for the kind of photos we will enjoy and remember for the rest of our lives. He did a great job working with our kids and brought out the best in them (teen siblings, actually smiling and radiating warmth and love towards each-other in a photo???). Can't say enough good about him. If you think he is too opinionated, you obviously weren't listening. He is an expert photographer, and will direct you to the poses he thinks will best show you. He also says his job includes your input, and will take the shots you want, after he gets the ones he knows will look good. You still get to select between your pose and his when it comes time to pick the prints. If you think he's rude, perhaps you were simply seeing a reflection of your own self in his eyes. The camera doesn't lie, it simply captures what you present. As mentioned before, this is our second time with him, and in no instance has he been rude in the slightest, even when we took a very long time selecting between a pair of photos. read more

What a wonderful experience to work with Jon to create an original piece of art. His professionalism shines through as does the pride he takes in creating a portrait that, in our case, exceeded expectations. Having no prior contact with Jon, I expected he would be professional, but aloof. We found him every bit the professional, but not at all aloof. His approach is interesting and involving, from determining why you want the portrait to selecting the setting, guiding in the selection of clothing and makeup, making the choice process engaging and emotional. My mother had a health problem during this process and he called just to check on her. Kelly and the other staff are personable and help to create the caring and professional aura of Jon's studio. Though more time-consuming than I initially expected, the hours invested resulted in a portrait that is amazing. And the individual portrait of my mom actually brought tears. I recommend him highly. This is the first time that we ever went all out for a family portrait. We couldn't be more pleased with the results! It looks more like a painting than a picture. The composition and use of color is absolutely perfect. We cannot wait to show the portrait to family and friends. The portrait will be hung on the wall of our great room and be something for us to admire for years. We felt that Jon did such a great job because he did not just take pictures, but spent a great deal of time with us, learning about our personalities, and what we desired as an outcome for the portrait. We originally found Jon Wolf through a friend and found him to be incredibly personable and devoted to ensuring the character of our family was provided through his work. He was very friendly and provided a great sense of concern focused on helping us find what we wanted in our family portrait. This consisted of gauging our interest in what were there for and thinking about where we wanted to place this piece of art in our home. All of this helped my wife and I narrow our interests down to a location and photo type. I was very impressed with his candor and care for all of us (children included, ages 7 and 9) during our meetings and photography session. The process for getting a beautiful work of art was certainly a lengthy one. That being said.. the portraits of our family are truly beautiful. Jon spent time with us to get to know our preferences, a little about each family member and best time to truly a joy to watch Jon in action. He spent time with us explaining light, color and possible places in our house that would best suit the type of photograph were were looking for. The actual day of the shoot was a great experience. We all had fun, marvelled at Jon's ability to get us in specific postions and accomodate the light as the sun set. Our family loved these portraits and although on the expensive side, would consider them heirloom pieces to be kept for generations. The clarity, in which he expressed his knowledge and skills in order to obtain a truly beautiful portrait was beyond my expectations. Back in 1997 Jon had a less expensive photo studio in El Con mall. I took my, then 9/10 year old daughter there. When it came time to see the proofs, the studio had misplaced them. Jon was very apologetic and invited us to his more expensive professional studio for a replacement shoot done by him personally--no extra cost. My daughter loved the experience and the photos turned out beautifully. My daughter never forgot the experience and has gone on to be a photo model recently signed by Wilhelmina, NYC.
