Tucked away in Cliddesden, you'll forget that you're a stone's throw from the M3 and Basingstoke. The Jolly Farmer is a decent independent pub that's been given a lick of paint and a modern-looking sign on the outside, but remains local and cosy on the inside.
The pub's split into two sections, although only the right-hand section was open when we visited. Inside there's a small bar, a good spattering of seats and a little fireplace. The bar had four guest beers on the blackboard, suggesting a changing variety over the weeks.
The menu was well laid-out, with dishes separated by price rather than category. The food was well presented and tasty. I had the burger (juicy and delicious) which came with a mountain of fries.
No complaints at all really. Cosy pub, good beer, friendly service, decent value, tasty grub. read more
