Johnston Dental Care was established in 1960 in Ruston, Louisiana by Dr. Lamar Johnston's father, Dr. Jerry C. Johnston, whom passed away in 2008. Carrying on his dad's legacy, Dr. Lamar joined the practice in 1983 with the mission to provide the best dentistry with exceptional service. He is committed to using the latest technologies and continuing in the most recent dental advancements. June of 2022, Dr. David Murphy became a partner in the dental practice alongside Dr. Lamar Johnston, offically making our new name Johnston & Murphy Dental Care. The name may have changed but everything stays the same. Our mission remains firmly grounded- to provide the best dentistry with exceptional service to all.

Meet the Business Owner: J. Lamar J.

Dr. Johnston has provided the highest quality dental care since 1983. He obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from LSU Dental School. He recently completed rigorous training in a 12-month Comprehensive Implant Residency Program. Placing and restoring implants has become one of his most refined skills and a favorite service to offer patients. He enjoys playing golf, running, reading, and spending time with his family that includes his wife, Tami, son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jerry & Eva Johnston and daughter and son-in-law, Holly Taylor & Stephen Bailey! Dr. Murphy graduated May 2020 from LSU School of Dentistry with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Shortly afterwards, he and wife Sidney, a RDH, joined the team. He is extensively trained in Sedation Dentistry and is always eager to provide patients with an excellent and unique experience. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, cooking, and working with his dogs, Benelli & Remi!
