With all the gun stores in the area we have lots of options and Johnson's is never the right one. Staff can be rude and nothing more than salesman. The gun prices are almost double other local gun shops. Save yourself the trouble and find another shop to spend your money at. read more

They have a decent selection of firearms for the region. Mainly used trade-ins of various conditions with some in poor condition. Prices are quite high across the board. What I find to be particularly disconcerting is the blatant price gouging on ammo. When I questioned the exorbitant price of 9mm, I was met with a deflective response in which it was 'someone else's fault'. I would have pressed further and given the benefit to clarify, however he quickly contradicted himself and it seemed evident he was not being honest. I do understand simple economics, but when a greater than 300% increase is applied to a retail price, the customer is clearly being taken advantage of. When this happens in the firearms industry it is very sad. read more

I called looking to get a Marlin 1894 in 357mag. The woman I talked to on phone said they didn't have one but had a Henry rifle in 357 mag. This was holiday weekend couldn't get to store till few days later. Went to store at prearranged time, was told rifle was sold. Ok it happens, but was shocked at abruptly told it was sold. Didn't ask if they could get me another I was given the bums rush out the door. Called Bob's Army Navy in Clearfield. Got exactly what I wanted good price. For the rude behavior by staff at Johnsons. Will never buy or send anybody to them ever! Don't know why there in business don't seem very customer oriented! read more

The only reason I'm giving this place ANY stars is because they have a nice selection of guns. Now that the good part is out of the way... I have never in my entire LIFE received service worse than Johnson's! They treat you like a parasite rather than a customer. I have never seen a single worker there smile at a customer. One day I went there and asked to hold one of the handguns, he then asked if I was 21 or older. I was 20 at the time but for gods sake I just wanted to hold it! He told me that I wasn't allowed to hold it due to my age! Really? I have been to dozens of guns stores in my life and NEVER has someone treated me so child-like. My father and I went to look at firearms one day and the staff was rude beyond comprehension. I just brushed it off since they had the gun my dad wanted. When I called a few days later asking if they still had it in stock for my dad to buy they told me they had it, and that they would hold it for me. I thought, wow must be a different worker. NOPE! My dad got there and asked for it and they said that they didn't have it and sold it 3 days prior, he then told them I asked to put it on hold. Not only did he deny ever holding it, but he told my dad if I EVER called about a gun ever again, that I would have to be present at the store at the time of purchase. So not only did he LIE to a customer, he denied my father service!!! The only way I would ever even CONSIDER shopping here again is if I got a direct apology from the staff in regards to their disgraceful behavior. read more

I have been dealing with Johnson's Gun Depot for many years and have purchased/sold/traded close to 2 dozen firearms with them in that time. I'm on a first-name basis with the entire staff and all of my experiences with them have been highly positive. They also have perhaps the largest selection of new and used guns in the area. If I'm looking for a hard-to-find gun, they'll generally have it in stock. They are also pretty fair when it comes to trade-in values. On the negative side, they typically sell new guns at, or near, "list" price and are therefore more expensive than most other area shops. read more

I would run from this place. The staff was ok. The woman in the back (I don't know if she is the owner or related to the owner) does not know how to treat customers. She was totally unprofessional. I took some possible trades in. She come back with what I thought was a low offer with no explanation of why that was what the guns were worth so I declined. I got home and realized she did not put the original price tag back in the box (I always keep original packaging and price tag). I called and left message that I wanted it back. No call back the next morning so I went back to store to see if she still had tag. She did. I asked why she kept the tag she replied "because it was in the box". That was it - no apology, no nothing, just a smug look on her face. She has the customer service skills of a rock. I you like being treated poorly go to Johnson's. I had a similar experience as already previous reviews. I took two guns in and they were drastically under valued. When I asked how they arrived at the price the older woman there got mad and basically told me to get out. I did and won't go back. They do have a pretty good selection albeit very over priced read more

I have had some good help here a few times, but after my last visit I will go elsewhere and try to get anybody else I know to do so too. After doing research for a bit I wanted to get the new xds 9mm that just came out. I knew for a fact it would be hard to get but I knew it was out and when I want something I make sure to do my research. When I went there and asked about it I was basically laughed and and when I said I saw guys online shooting them and bragging about what I great gun it was. Then he proceeded to tell me I was wrong.
