I let them know up front that my situation had changed, I possibly only had one dental insurance now, not two. Suddenly after mentioning carrying only a single insurance plan, all bets were off. My appointment was no longer available. I now needed to verify my plan before the appointment and they would put me back on the "emergency" list before they would see me. Now, I totally understand the importance of payment for services rendered, however, they didn't even give me the courtesy of an estimate. I am so disappointed and saddened to see that businesses are practicing this way. What kind of care is this? Basically, they do not want you to go to Steel City Dental unless you have a 100% guarantee the fees are going to be paid by your insurance and the ONLY insurances that pay that are FirstHealth Colorado for children and Medicare with supplements. The office staff is friendly and you can tell they enjoy working there. I haven't had any procedures done yet but I trust Dr. Philson. He tells you what he's thinking and takes the time to show you what he's looking at. He is personable and puts you at ease right away. I was a bit stressed about finding a new dentist but I'm so glad I ended up with Dr. Philson. And he's young, so he won't retire on me!

However, when I went back before Christmas of 2023, the man that I saw dropped his hands threw his head back and loudly announced my diagnosis to the entire room while stomping away. I was shocked at the diagnosis and was left with a receptionist who was filling in, beside the dental chair that day who tried to tell me I needed teeth worked on that I had already had worked on the previous week! I was humiliated, left in a panic attack, and couldn't make myself go back.

They billed my insurance for a $1,000 procedure that never happened, he almost put fillings on the wrong side, & the fillings he did put in left my face crooked. I thought something happened with the nerves in my face because it was crooked but I just had the fillings redone by Ragulsky yesterday & my face is back to normal. I accepted that my face changed, I was scared, & it made me sad to not recognize myself but it turns out I just had horrible dental work. I can't even describe how I feel right now. I'm so thankful I found another dentist cause Garbiso went to crap. Business owners get Medicaid acceptance and lose their focus, it becomes about quantity & not quality. I think he needs to be drug tested too, there are a lot of things that are "off" about him & the way his office is run.
