Their mistake cost me over $1,500 by improperly installing a starter! The simplest of jobs…read more My starter failed so I had it towed on a flatbed to the shop. Instead of pushing it in to save time and inconvenience they opted to try and start it knowing full well it was dropped off with a flatbed and a bad starter. They got it to start drove it in took out the bad starter put on the new one and then it was a brick. Travis calls me and says there's something more wrong with your van. I was a little impressed that Travis was honest with the fact that they had started a car with a bad starter. I figured that maybe finished off the electronics in the car. That's why I had it towed. I didn't want to risk frying the whole thing for a shorted starter. Travis says the computer must be bad. So I spend the money get a replacement unit deliver it to them they put it in. I get a call it's still a brick. At this point I'm getting the drift that these aren't skilled mechanics So I opted to have the thing towed to a mechanic I know and trust So I'm out the money for the towing and the replacement computer and the hours Travis and friends spent not being able to figure out their own mistake. I'm also out an additional two hours of labor for a skilled mechanic to fix what QPL broke. I have it delivered to a skilled mechanic. He has it running in less than 2 hours.. The starter had 2 ground wires. They put the new starter in and put one of the gound wires on the SOLENOID positive bolt. Meaning the solenoid was a dead short to ground. Every time the van was thinking about sending voltagel to start the car it was reading a dead short on the solenoid making a brick putting the computer into protection mode, AKA brick. I called Travis back today advised him the reason the car wouldn't run due to an error his technician made. I asked if he would accept any liability for the damage. Very quickly he answered no. He went on to argue and say that that's impossible that it was wired incorrectly. He said they put a direct current to the primary wire on starter and the starter worked. Yes, the problem wasn't with the starter the problem was with the solenoid wiring done by your technicians. I could provide photos but Travis said it's my problem. At the end of the day when things go sideways as they often do with mechanical problems this shop takes no responsibility for the damage that their own employees cause to your property. I'm a medical transport driver and this mess has cost me dearly. Van's down for 2+ weeks over a starter install? 2 Bolts and 4 wires..... The black wires don't get along with the red on THE SAME BOLT! That would embarrass me if I claimed to be a professional. Run away!
