Knowing that the time was near, my husband had purchased a comprehensive plan from Hanes- Lineberry months in advance. It was the best thing he might have done. Planning a service from a distance is a challenge. However, everyone we dealt with at Hanes-Lineberry was kind, and professional. Brian watched over each and every detail, leading up to the service. The vendors they use were fantastic. I was in touch with their florist, Blossoms by Stroud, and Tracy put together the most beautiful arrangements. The caterer they use and that we had contracted for the reception supper, Above and Beyond, really was...best bbq pork and mac and cheese I've ever had, not to mention the incredible desserts. Al Lineberry, Mike Sears and Neil Whitacre were all exceedingly gracious. I have mentioned Brian already but he deserves a second mention as it was his heart and his efficiency that helped us pull everything together. Every aspect of the service and reception was lovely, just what we had hoped for. It honored Mom in the best possible way. We were so pleased.Thank you to everyone at Hanes Lineberry for facilitating each and every detail.

Let's start with the beginning of this whole process of my loved one's cremation: They were called…read moreto come pick up the body and were told the body was upstairs inside the house. They show up, and come inside and act like they didn't know the body was up a set of stairs. Anyway, they then say they didn't bring any gloves. You didn't bring any gloves to move a body? Really? We had some disposable gloves and had to give our own gloves to them because they were not prepared. Next they look at the body and say "They're heavier than we thought, we're going to need back up." My mom's boyfriend was present at the house along with myself and a few other family members, so the men took it upon themselves to ask him to help them move the body downstairs. Even if he didn't know our loved one, which he did, what makes it okay to ask a member of the household to help you move the body? He is not an employee, nor does he have any affiliation with Peoples Funeral Services Inc., but you gladly accepted his free labor for YOUR job. In the following days after this traumatic day, this place seemed to only emphasize their lack of knowledge, preparation, and time management skills. We had a set time of 9:00 A.M. to meet and discuss payment. We showed up at 8:50 A.M., and no one was there until about 9:15 A.M. Standing outside of the main door, waiting to be let in well past the set meeting time. Inside of the meeting, they did not know how to operate their card machine to take money off of my card. We were sitting in the room while a woman called the manufacturer of the machine trying to get it to work correctly, and we had to leave and come back because it was taking so long. After this, we find out they gave out information about the time of death of our loved one to someone who called and asked about it. Isn't this a violation of privacy? Why would you give out information like that to just whoever? Everyone that was in that meeting room were the only people who knew, and two of them specifically signed the forms provided information for the death certificate. Moving on, we wait to be contacted on when we can pick up the ashes and it gets pushed back from Friday(3/3/2020), to the following weekend, and then to Monday(3/6/2020). We pick up the ashes Monday around 2:30-3:00 P.M., mind you we had to keep calling and asking if they had arrived they said "They just came" when we called to ask on Monday. We are there, the ashes are brought out, my mom signs some paperwork. What we noticed was a woman brought the box with ashes out, and asked for them back, and switched the box for the correct one. It's almost a crude joke at this point about how unprofessional this establishment is. This type of process is already difficult, and given the circumstances of how it worked out with this place it was a literal travesty of how this is supposed to go, and exhausting for my family to deal with. Do not bring your loved ones here.

There is a large veterans memorial area in the right rear of the cemetery, and there are yearly ceremonies on Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and others. Currently, the veterans area is part of the Wreaths Across America program, and the area is quite beautiful - I have posted several pictures taken of the area. Wreaths Across America's mission statement: Our mission, Remember, Honor, Teach, is carried out in part by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies a specified Saturday in December at Arlington, as well as veterans' cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states, ceremonies at sea, and 24 national cemeteries on foreign soil. Individuals can join the program by sponsoring a wreath or by volunteering to help place the wreaths - worth looking into, and worth taking time to visit this area at Forest Lawn. We have walked at this cemetery almost daily for nearly 25 years, and having been feeding a beautiful, gray feral cat there for over 16 years. Her name is Bootsie - say hello if you see her - talk loud, she's a little hard of hearing now.
