If it were possible to give a zero star,, We had johns for years great service!! when Cards bought them out it has been such a joke of a company.. whoever is running this business needs some serious customer skills,, the girl in the office is a horrible person in general, zero communication time and again, and so rude,, drivers leave trash bins without emptying, who does this? says they will send someone back, she doesn't!! One star for a reason.....because zero stars is not allowed. When purchasing from John's Refuse was okay for a few months because John's drivers were still providing the drivers/service temporarily. When Cards took over the outside pickup, service went to crap. Had to call in numerous times (weeks) for non-pickup of trash, or limbs even though limbs cut to their measurements and tied per their requirement. When call in (numerous times/different occurrences) promises to send driver back out NEVER occurred. Got to the point that haulers didn't pick up the trash at all! Further call ins resulted in same unbelievably terrible 'non-service'. Finally called in for last time with a month still paid for and told the young lady we were ending our service at that month's end due to their drivers' disregard for picking up our trash. The receptionist made an apology replying she understood and would note the account (must have gotten quite a few call ins besides ours over the months). Answering quickly that she understood spoke volumes. Apparently they also have difficulty with communication even within their own office seeing how we got another bill for service (this time with a late fee) in the mail today. John's has been bought by CARD refuse and recycling. They now have several problems. First is that payment checks are being stolen between sending and arriving at the accounting department. This caused us to go three months in arears without knowing about it because my checks went out auto-pay from the bank. The second is that there are (at least) two people working in the business office. One is a very nice and patient lady who helped me sort out the missing payment problem. The other is...a not nice and not patient lady who screams at you as if you are the problem and HOW DARE YOU INTERRUPT HER DAY. Someone needs a good talking to from the boss, and it's not the first lady. read more

Charging clients who's houses are under water a $100 fee if their trash bins got swept away in the flood.

The lady in the office is crazy. No customer service skills and told me I would have to dump my trash in the truck myself. Crazy!!!

I have been a customer of Johns Refuse for over 6 years but will soon be canceling my service. After coming through my neighborhood at 9:30 a.m. or later every Friday for the past 6 1/2 years, I routinely set my trash out at 8:00-8:30 a.m. as I leave for work. Today I walk out at 8:15 a.m., and they had already come. When I call the office and politely ask if they could swing back by to pick up my trash, I am lectured, interrupted and overall spoken to so rudely by the lady answering the phone. Instead of saying yes, we will be happy to help you out or how can we make this right, she proceeded to tell me how they could not interrupt their day to come back by and that I should read their printed material, that they don't have the manpower, and on and on and on. I actually did try setting my trash out early on several occasions and dogs or other animals got into it, or the wind blew it over and I had a mess to clean up because they didn't come until late morning, so I gauged when to set it out by when they always come. It's not my fault that they came by probably almost 1 1/2 to 2 hours earlier than they ever have. My home is on their way back to Chelsea. It would take them 5 minutes to stop by. What poor customer service. Rude, inconsiderate, hateful. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone after the way I was treated on the phone today after being a loyal customer for 6 1/2 years.
