I'm a traveling event planner, and for an event in NYC, I'm so glad to have found Johnny! We brought him in for attendee headshots, and he and his team were a breeze to work with. The headshot station was the most popular part of the event. Johnny's attention to detail and flexibility were impressive. He connected naturally with guests, had great posing tips, and creating a relaxed atmosphere! Everyone felt at ease, and it showed in the photos. His quick communication and knowledge of the venue were very helpful in the planning, and Johnny handled last-minute adjustments effortlessly. Every attendee and staff member loved their polished photos. I'm happy that Johnny also travels, so I'll definitely be looking to work with him outside of New York in the future. Highly recommend Johnny's team for ALL event photography needs! read more

I saw Johnnys website online, contacted him and he was able to work within my budget. I knew from the second we spoke he wast the guy for me. I love his photos (being a photographer myself I am very picky) and he understood what my husband and I were looking for. He is a sweet guy, and really captured our whole theme and ideas of what we wanted. He was a huge part of our wedding, not only was he our photographer, he acted as our maitre d, wedding planner and therapist. (My caterer sucked) His demeanor is calm, cool and collective. He is super talented and extremely nice. I love this guy! read more

Johnny was amazing to work with. From the very beginning, he was interested in making sure he understood what we wanted, from capturing the feel of the day to specific shots. Because we relocated early on in our wedding planning process, we weren't able to meet with Johnny in person before the big day, which could have been super scary, but we exchanged a few phone calls and I was impressed with the quality of work in the portfolios on his website. He put us at ease and was always easily reachable by phone and email. Our family and friends barely noticed him zipping around, day of, and of all the things I remember from my ceremony, Johnny was invisible (in the best way possible). When we got the photos back, I couldn't believe the shots he captured! How did he do all that without being in the way? No idea. Even in the photos friends posted to social media, he's nowhere to be found. The man is a magician and his photographs are beautiful. I only wish we lived closer so that he could take all of our family photographs in the future (we relocated to Florida), and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. Easy to work with, amazing photographs, went above and beyond--even going as far as taking some photos after the reception that, being overwhelmed, I had forgotten to mention earlier. We are so excited to have, literally, a thousand photographs documenting our day that we can proudly hang in our home, collect into albums for our parents, and share with our friends. The positive response from everyone who has seen the photos has been overwhelming. We are so grateful to Johnny for all his hard work in planning, taking, and editing our photographs. read more

Back when my husband and I were in the drawing-board stages of planning our wedding, I told him that, while there were plenty of places to be financially conservative, having good photos was not negotiable. Kevin found Johnny Wolf through internet searches, and I was smitten with his work almost immediately. After we met with him to discuss his work and our wedding, I remarked to Kevin how quickly and seamlessly he put us at ease, and how that was one of the marks of a great photographer. Johnny was very receptive to what we had to say about our vision, what we liked and disliked about wedding photography in general, and he quickly drew up a proposal that catered to both our priorities and our budget. A few months later, we had an engagement shoot, and we were thrilled with the finished product. Anyone looking at his work will quickly learn that he is a hugely gifted photographer, obviously deserving of the famous Yelp five stars, and that's a given. I am personally choosing to give Johnny five stars because of all the other stuff--his kindness, humor, positive attitude, and his uncanny ability to be your calm in the storm. There is only so much planning two people can do to prepare for their wedding day, and a few small things went awry on mine (as they inevitably will for you, too). Johnny was flexible, made very helpful suggestions, got a wonderful variety of photos, but never made us feel rushed. Johnny is a real gem, and I have no hesitations recommending him wholeheartedly. read more

We're so glad we hired Johnny Wolf for our wedding and post-wedding shoot. I found him on Yelp and checked out his website and fell in love with his photos. I have to say, I'm not particularly photogenic but our photos came out absolutely wonderful. I've also always been camera-shy but felt really comfortable around a camera for the first time with Johnny. I felt like he gave just the right amount of direction and for the other half of the time we barely noticed he was there, which was nice. He captured all of the great, impromptu, and important moments that I'd hoped he'd capture and he captured them beautifully. I would recommend him solely on the amazing photos he took but I also have to say, Johnny is just a really nice human being. He was always professional. He was involved with the planning of our shoot before the wedding. He arrived early. He put up with some annoying logistical details on our wedding day and was gracious about it. For the post-wedding shoot, we must have changed the date 10 times because the weather wasn't cooperating and Johnny was very accommodating and nice. I would hire him again in a moment. I'm so glad we found him and I would recommend him highly to anyone! read more

My husband and I couldn't have been more delighted to have Johnny photograph our wedding. We are pretty awakward when it comes to having a lens pointed at us but Johnny made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. The pictures came out fantastic! I really can't say enough great things so here is a list of awesome facts that I feel are good to know: 1- Johnny is personable. His pictures reflect the effort he puts into getting to know his clients. 2- Johnny is funny. When a photographer is bascially with you the entire day, having good humor is important. 3- Johnny is thoughtful. You can see it in the quality of his photos, his responses to you in emails, and his overall person!! Thank you Johnny for capturing our wedding day and giving us memories we can cherish for a lifetime! read more

As my fiance said, "It was the least stressful part of my day." I couldn't agree more. When we decided to do an engagement shoot, we had a certain vision in mind. After looking around and checking in with some photographers, we were worried that the scope of our vision was perhaps too large. But then we talked to Johnny and he seemed to offer the flexibility to do what we wanted. Little did we know how much his flexibility would come in to play. Between the time that we set a date to work with Johnny and the date we actually did the shoot, we dealt with weeks worth of weather-related rescheduling. He was endlessly patient with us and assured us that he only wanted to make sure we got the right day. Once that day finally came, he lived up to the impression that he gave over email/text. We had not done any sort of professional photography before, but he was adept at getting us to relax and be natural. He was instructive and encouraging, but most of all, simply easy to be around. In addition to his generally calm demeanor, he never made us feel rushed. While he certainly had his suggestions, he made sure to get all the shots that we wanted. And it was that flexibility and patience that made for the overall pleasant experience. read more

We cannot say enough great things about Johnny. He was hands down our favorite vendor. You really don't think about how much time you will spend with your wedding photographer on the day of your wedding....probably more then with anyone else and Johnny is such a pleasure to be with. I was so jittery on the morning of our wedding and Johnny was so calming and soothing - I loved having him with me all day. His flexibility is incredible and it was such a wonderful experience to work with someone who is as passionate about photography as we are. We were so lucky to have found him. We only met with 3 photographers after sorting through about 250+ online - Johnny was the first photographer that we met with and although we wanted to meet all 3 vendors we knew he was our guy. His work is amazing and speaks for itself. His low-light photography is just beautiful. He captured so many wonderful moments on the day of our wedding in a style that is very traditional yet feels fresh and unique. I just needed that one great shot and he has made it hard to pick just one - so many wonderful photos! He's excited about what he does and it shows in his work. I also can't tell you how many of our guests commented on how lovely he and his second shooter were. They were professional and polite, but still got the shots that they needed, which can be very challenging when there are bodies in the way! As I told Johnny at our last meeting, I am easy to please and very hard to impress and I am truly impressed! Thank you Johnny! read more

I wish I could give Johnny Wolf a million stars - even then, it would not be enough! 6 months into the wedding planning process, my fiancé (now, husband) and I decided to elope. I'm from Los Angeles, he's from St. Paul, so New York was neutral territory for us. Even though we weren't having a traditional ceremony and reception, we both knew that we didn't want to skimp on the photography. With that being said, we were still working with a tight budget and knew that it wasn't going to be easy to find a stellar photographer (especially from across the country). After scouring the usual wedding websites (WeddingWire, The Knot, Wedding Chicks, etc), I decided to give good ol' Craigslist a try (fingers crossed!). It must have been my lucky day. Sure, I had to sift through a lot of ads for subpar photographers (and believe me, there were a lot!), but when I finally stumbled upon Johnny's glorious posting/website, the Heavens opened and angels sang. Within hours of my inquiry, Johnny responded to my email. Professional and friendly, to boot! I couldn't wait to meet him! The day of the wedding, Johnny showed up 10 minutes early. Unfortunately, it took an additional 20 minutes to do my hair and makeup, and we had to keep Johnny waiting out in the hotel lobby (small New York hotels - no room for an additional body). No worries, though - Johnny was all smiles. Within a half hour, we were all on our way to the Manhattan Court House, and by the end of the day, we were laughing like old friends. Not only did we get AMAZING photographs, but we left New York with wonderful memories; memories captured by, and shared with, Johnny. I really can't thank him enough for being there for us, as we celebrated the happiest day of our lives. I really wish I could convince each and every New York bride to book Johnny for her wedding (or, at the very least, for their engagement photos). And it's not because I'm completely enamored with Johnny...it's because I firmly believe that every bride deserves to look beautiful on her wedding day, and Johnny has a knack for capturing and preserving that beauty (even in the silly, candid shots) :) read more

Johnny is truly awesome! We're really, really, really picky -- especially since one of us (me, the bride) -- has had experience as a wedding photographer. In our search for a wedding photographer of our own it was important to us that we hire someone who was just as committed to capturing the real and whole story of our wedding, as we were in creating it. We wanted to be sure it was preserved just the way it was going to be told. Needless to say, after Johnny drove all the way out to meet us in Long Island and I pestered him with in-depth questions and requests that only the most demanding of brides (and photographers) would ask, he patiently and graciously rose to the occasion, answered all of our questions, and ultimately made us feel confident that he was the right choice. In fact, we voluntarily decided to pay him more than he was charging because we felt that he was well worth the value! And on our wedding day Johnny came through! He was on time, calming, and just the right blend of subtly vigilant but proactive. Both Johnny and his second shooter, Jeremy, were easy to work with, blended in seamlessly, and managed to capture countless details ... from our 10 twirling flower girls and difficult family group shots, to the backsides of our custom M&Ms. By the end of the evening it felt more like they were wedding guests who happened to be pro photographers and not the other way around. Johnny really went the extra mile. He never seemed to watch the clock and stayed later than he agreed to because he didn't want to miss ANYTHING. A true pro! Ultimately, it never seemed like Johnny was just doing a job -- to us, he was passionate and genuinely enjoyed what he was doing. He was happy to be there! But of course the end results speak for themselves. Just a month after our wedding the DVDs arrived. We found ourselves giggly, exuberant, and seriously teary-eyed remembering just how special our wedding day was. As a wedding photographer myself, I consider this the true mark of success. The photos made us cry. Need I say more? Johnny, thank you from the bottom of our hearts! read more

When we first got engaged, I told my husband the photography is my priority. As soon as We got engaged I began doing my research looking for the right photographer with the most creative eye and with a professional, humble and sincere personality. We interviewed many photographers that were too generic for me as we'll as arrogant. We were referred to Johnny by my co worker that were hired by her daughters friend. I went home checked his work out and emailed him. Johnny responded right away with information and we met up. As soon as we met up and spoke my at the time, my fiancé wanted to book him right away! He kept in touch during the year and was open to suggestions and would give us his professional input. We initially wanted a 200+ wedding so we weren't sure we'd be able to squeeze an engagement shoot but Johnny was understanding of our limited budget and we decided to make some cuts and book the engagement shoot in Redhook Brooklyn, and we're glad we did because the photos came out beautiful ! On the day of the wedding, Johnny was so organized and productive! Everyone commented how professional and sweet Johnny was. Our photos were taken in DUMBO, Brooklyn, on that September day the park had a festival and was so packed. We were worried we wouldn't be able to take pics but he took advantage of the time since we had about a three hour gap before the reception and assured us we'll be ok. The session ended up being so much fun and a once in a lifetime experience ! After the wedding was were my husband and I realized we hired the best photographer ever. We got to see our photos on thanksgiving day -- just in time for the holidays since our family would get together and then we received our cd in a beautiful package right before Christmas ! Thanks to Johnny we had an amazing first holiday season. And not to mention all the compliments on the photos all my guests were so anxious to see more photos! We are so happy we choose Johnny for our wedding. His work ethic and product is very needed in this industry! read more

I can't say enough AMAZING things about Johnny. From the moment we contacted him until the last shot he took at our wedding, he was just so easy to work with. He had done both our engagement and wedding photos, and both came out just beautiful. As people who don't usually take photographs, we were worried that we would look awkward in our pictures. But he had put our mind at ease and made it a comfortable and fun experience. Our guests also complimented at his professionalism and how easy it was for him to find a great shot. He is definitely someone you would love to have capture your most unforgettable moments. Thanks Johnny! read more

Can't tell you enough on how talented Johnny is! I actually found him on craigslist and booked him on the spot (1 yr in advance). Felt so at ease from the moment I met him. I knew he'd captured "The Moments". He was so accomodating with all the changes that occured with the planning. Great with follow ups. Day 1 of our event, he got caught in traffic so he was delayed, however, he called immediately to inform us. Luckily we were waiting on the rain to let up so he arrived as I was ready to walk the plank...oops meant to say aisle - LOL. He graciously offered to say a while longer than scheduled to make up for the time. As crazy as things were, he was so patient. On day 2, I felt like I was whisking him away for one thing or another. He was awesome about it...just smiled. His pictures were so beautiful. Told exactly the story you'd want to tell. There were so many great photos that I had such a hard time choosing the one's I wanted for my album. He's so reasonably priced and he gives you a cd of your photos so that you can do your photos and books on your own. Highly recommend him! read more

We were absolutely thrilled with Johnny as our wedding photographer. He was definitely one of our favorite vendors, not only because his work is fantastic, but because he was an absolute pleasure to work with. A family member recommended Johnny when we first got engaged. We knew that we wanted him as our photographer from the first meeting. Johnny is kind, honest, and very talented! Throughout our planning process Johnny was always available to answer any questions so I knew that we chose someone reliable. On the day of the wedding Johnny was there in the morning to take pictures of me getting ready and he was still there past 1 a.m. when the reception ended. I was amazed at his hard work throughout the day and how friendly and accomodating he was to all of our friends and family. The entire day I felt 100% confident that Johnny was getting all the pictures I wanted and when we received the pictures I was not disappointed. He captured every special moment of the day and was able to take pictures of each person that I had on the list that I gave to him only a week before. We are so happy with our pictures and could not have asked for a better photographer. I would recommend Johnny to anyone!!! read more

Three words to describe Johnny and his services: amazing, amazing, amazing. He was by far my favorite vendor at my wedding. He is so warm, friendly, professional, and passionate about what he does. We travelled from England to NYC to get married in January 2013. We didn't want the big fuss of a white wedding, but it was really important to us to have amazing photography that truly captured the emotion of our day to share with family back home. With Johnny, that's exactly what we got. Johnny was a true professional but he was friendly and relaxed - in fact, it felt more like spending the day with a (very talented) mate. We had a couple of our own ideas for shots, which he researched in advance and approached with real enthusiasm. His experience also meant that he had plenty of his own ideas for some breath-taking images. The freezing cold weather didn't put him off either (although in hindsight I might have worn more than a cardigan!). To be honest, it was a genuine pleasure to share our wedding day with him. At no point did we feel uncomfortable or rushed - quite the opposite. Johnny doesn't charge you by the hour like so many other NYC photographers we looked at, which I think is a massive plus because the day FLIES by and it meant we didn't feel like we had to compromise on deciding between locations because we had plenty of time. Johnny really brought our nerves, tears, laughter and elation to life through his work. Our family and friends were blown away when we showed them the images - and so were we. Like lots of young couples we were on a tight budget, but Johnny was affordable and incredible value. He's also just a really lovely, affable guy with an incredible talent and an eye for detail which I think you would struggle to find with anyone else. We ended up with HUNDREDS of stunning photographs (I still can't look through them without feeling teary all over again!) which are a now a beautiful reminder of our day which we will treasure forever. Hiring Johnny was the best money we've ever spent - and we'd recommend him in a heartbeat. read more

I'm so happy we chose Johnny as our wedding photographer. We couldn't have asked for a nicer or more talented person to capture the best moments of our big day. Johnny made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera and he was extremely organized from the beginning, helping us plot out the day's activities and scouting for amazing backgrounds ahead of time. Johnny puts 110 percent into his shoots. He also is very accommodating--he was happy to drive out to Long Island for our engagement shots--and creative--no dull photos here. On top of it all, Johnny is an all-around great guy who we were glad to have take part in our wedding. read more

I am so happy to have picked Johnny as my engagement photographer when I proposed to my girlfriend in New York a couple of weeks ago. I had never been to NYC and didn't really know where to start. After looking at overpriced photographers on the web, I was impressed with Johnny's posting on craigslist and decided to go with him. It was very easy to organize our plans and he even went out of his way to meet me in central park while my girlfriend was changing so we could plan everything out. He captured the proposal moment perfectly and then took some pictures of us around the park. The photos turned out wonderful, way better than I could have hoped. The next weekend I was crunched for time to print some of the photos out for a gift for my fiance's birthday when Walgreens gave me some trouble and needed a release form. Johnny was able to email me a release within 30 minutes. I highly recommend Johnny if you are looking for a professional yet laid back photographer that is very reasonably priced. read more
