Johnny was amazing to work with. From the very beginning, he was interested in making sure he understood what we wanted, from capturing the feel of the day to specific shots. Because we relocated early on in our wedding planning process, we weren't able to meet with Johnny in person before the big day, which could have been super scary, but we exchanged a few phone calls and I was impressed with the quality of work in the portfolios on his website. He put us at ease and was always easily reachable by phone and email. Our family and friends barely noticed him zipping around, day of, and of all the things I remember from my ceremony, Johnny was invisible (in the best way possible). When we got the photos back, I couldn't believe the shots he captured! How did he do all that without being in the way? No idea. Even in the photos friends posted to social media, he's nowhere to be found. The man is a magician and his photographs are beautiful. I only wish we lived closer so that he could take all of our family photographs in the future (we relocated to Florida), and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. Easy to work with, amazing photographs, went above and beyond--even going as far as taking some photos after the reception that, being overwhelmed, I had forgotten to mention earlier. Back when my husband and I were in the drawing-board stages of planning our wedding, I told him that, while there were plenty of places to be financially conservative, having good photos was not negotiable. Kevin found Johnny Wolf through internet searches, and I was smitten with his work almost immediately. After we met with him to discuss his work and our wedding, I remarked to Kevin how quickly and seamlessly he put us at ease, and how that was one of the marks of a great photographer. Johnny was very receptive to what we had to say about our vision, what we liked and disliked about wedding photography in general, and he quickly drew up a proposal that catered to both our priorities and our budget. A few months later, we had an engagement shoot, and we were thrilled with the finished product. Anyone looking at his work will quickly learn that he is a hugely gifted photographer, obviously deserving of the famous Yelp five stars, and that's a given. We're so glad we hired Johnny Wolf for our wedding and post-wedding shoot. I found him on Yelp and checked out his website and fell in love with his photos. I have to say, I'm not particularly photogenic but our photos came out absolutely wonderful. I've also always been camera-shy but felt really comfortable around a camera for the first time with Johnny. I felt like he gave just the right amount of direction and for the other half of the time we barely noticed he was there, which was nice. He captured all of the great, impromptu, and important moments that I'd hoped he'd capture and he captured them beautifully. I would recommend him solely on the amazing photos he took but I also have to say, Johnny is just a really nice human being. He was always professional. He was involved with the planning of our shoot before the wedding. He arrived early. He put up with some annoying logistical details on our wedding day and was gracious about it. As my fiance said, "It was the least stressful part of my day." I couldn't agree more. When we decided to do an engagement shoot, we had a certain vision in mind. After looking around and checking in with some photographers, we were worried that the scope of our vision was perhaps too large. But then we talked to Johnny and he seemed to offer the flexibility to do what we wanted. Little did we know how much his flexibility would come in to play. Between the time that we set a date to work with Johnny and the date we actually did the shoot, we dealt with weeks worth of weather-related rescheduling. I wish I could give Johnny Wolf a million stars - even then, it would not be enough! 6 months into the wedding planning process, my fiancé (now, husband) and I decided to elope. I'm from Los Angeles, he's from St. Paul, so New York was neutral territory for us. Even though we weren't having a traditional ceremony and reception, we both knew that we didn't want to skimp on the photography. With that being said, we were still working with a tight budget and knew that it wasn't going to be easy to find a stellar photographer (especially from across the country). After scouring the usual wedding websites (WeddingWire, The Knot, Wedding Chicks, etc), I decided to give good ol' Craigslist a try (fingers crossed!). It must have been my lucky day. Sure, I had to sift through a lot of ads for subpar photographers (and believe me, there were a lot!), but when I finally stumbled upon Johnny's glorious posting/website, the Heavens opened and angels sang. Within hours of my inquiry, Johnny responded to my email. Professional and friendly, to boot! I couldn't wait to meet him! The day of the wedding, Johnny showed up 10 minutes early. Unfortunately, it took an additional 20 minutes to do my hair and makeup, and we had to keep Johnny waiting out in the hotel lobby (small New York hotels - no room for an additional body). No worries, though - Johnny was all smiles. Within a half hour, we were all on our way to the Manhattan Court House, and by the end of the day, we were laughing like old friends. Not only did we get AMAZING photographs, but we left New York with wonderful memories; memories captured by, and shared with, Johnny. I really can't thank him enough for being there for us, as we celebrated the happiest day of our lives. Johnny is truly awesome! We're really, really, really picky -- especially since one of us (me, the bride) -- has had experience as a wedding photographer. In our search for a wedding photographer of our own it was important to us that we hire someone who was just as committed to capturing the real and whole story of our wedding, as we were in creating it. We wanted to be sure it was preserved just the way it was going to be told. Needless to say, after Johnny drove all the way out to meet us in Long Island and I pestered him with in-depth questions and requests that only the most demanding of brides (and photographers) would ask, he patiently and graciously rose to the occasion, answered all of our questions, and ultimately made us feel confident that he was the right choice. In fact, we voluntarily decided to pay him more than he was charging because we felt that he was well worth the value! And on our wedding day Johnny came through! He was on time, calming, and just the right blend of subtly vigilant but proactive. Both Johnny and his second shooter, Jeremy, were easy to work with, blended in seamlessly, and managed to capture countless details ... from our 10 twirling flower girls and difficult family group shots, to the backsides of our custom M&Ms. By the end of the evening it felt more like they were wedding guests who happened to be pro photographers and not the other way around. Johnny really went the extra mile. He never seemed to watch the clock and stayed later than he agreed to because he didn't want to miss ANYTHING. A true pro! Ultimately, it never seemed like Johnny was just doing a job -- to us, he was passionate and genuinely enjoyed what he was doing. He was happy to be there! But of course the end results speak for themselves. Just a month after our wedding the DVDs arrived. We found ourselves giggly, exuberant, and seriously teary-eyed remembering just how special our wedding day was. As a wedding photographer myself, I consider this the true mark of success. When we first got engaged, I told my husband the photography is my priority. As soon as We got engaged I began doing my research looking for the right photographer with the most creative eye and with a professional, humble and sincere personality. We interviewed many photographers that were too generic for me as we'll as arrogant. We were referred to Johnny by my co worker that were hired by her daughters friend. Our photos were taken in DUMBO, Brooklyn, on that September day the park had a festival and was so packed. Can't tell you enough on how talented Johnny is! I actually found him on craigslist and booked him on the spot (1 yr in advance). Felt so at ease from the moment I met him. I knew he'd captured "The Moments". He was so accomodating with all the changes that occured with the planning. Great with follow ups. Day 1 of our event, he got caught in traffic so he was delayed, however, he called immediately to inform us. Luckily we were waiting on the rain to let up so he arrived as I was ready to walk the plank...oops meant to say aisle - LOL. We travelled from England to NYC to get married in January 2013. We didn't want the big fuss of a white wedding, but it was really important to us to have amazing photography that truly captured the emotion of our day to share with family back home. With Johnny, that's exactly what we got. Johnny was a true professional but he was friendly and relaxed - in fact, it felt more like spending the day with a (very talented) mate. We had a couple of our own ideas for shots, which he researched in advance and approached with real enthusiasm. His experience also meant that he had plenty of his own ideas for some breath-taking images. The freezing cold weather didn't put him off either (although in hindsight I might have worn more than a cardigan!). To be honest, it was a genuine pleasure to share our wedding day with him. At no point did we feel uncomfortable or rushed - quite the opposite. Johnny doesn't charge you by the hour like so many other NYC photographers we looked at, which I think is a massive plus because the day FLIES by and it meant we didn't feel like we had to compromise on deciding between locations because we had plenty of time. Johnny really brought our nerves, tears, laughter and elation to life through his work. Our family and friends were blown away when we showed them the images - and so were we. Like lots of young couples we were on a tight budget, but Johnny was affordable and incredible value. I am so happy to have picked Johnny as my engagement photographer when I proposed to my girlfriend in New York a couple of weeks ago. I had never been to NYC and didn't really know where to start. After looking at overpriced photographers on the web, I was impressed with Johnny's posting on craigslist and decided to go with him. It was very easy to organize our plans and he even went out of his way to meet me in central park while my girlfriend was changing so we could plan everything out. He captured the proposal moment perfectly and then took some pictures of us around the park. The photos turned out wonderful, way better than I could have hoped. The next weekend I was crunched for time to print some of the photos out for a gift for my fiance's birthday when Walgreens gave me some trouble and needed a release form.
